You were silently reading a book back at the bench placed in the school hallways. You weren't much of a talker unless you're the first person who is spoken to.
Every lunch and after class, you'll always find yourself in that specific spot, one can call it your hangout place, to read books you've taken a liking of. Of course, you do have friends but the need to recharge your social battery always happens once you're done interacting with them.
The book you're reading wasn't particularly a horror one. It's more mystery focused if you do say so yourself, but the cover can be misleading at times.
Hearing a sudden deep voice near you, you looked up and saw a familiar purple eyes staring right back at your e/c ones.
Oh, it was your silent classmates, Yuki.
You seemed to always notice him silently listening at the back of the class, he wasn't talkative much and you haven't really saw him hang out with other people other than that coral pink haired guy, the little tsundere one, and Moniko (He's pretty famous and basically almost everyone knows who he is.).
You closed your book, slipping a finger inside as a bookmark to the current page you're reading.
"Uh... is there anything I can help you with?"
"W-would you like to join t-the-" he stopped, his cheeks turning red as he turned his head away for a bit.
You gave him a confused glance. "Join the what?"
"The literature club... We've been searching for new members and I-uh-always see you here reading a book..."
Well that was surprising.
"Uh, sure! When's the club meeting?"
His eyes lightened up and you couldn't help but smile. "There's actually one now. I'm on my way to the clubroom."
"Oh, then I'll go with you. Just give me a second." You took out a purple tea designed bookmark from your pocket and slipped it in the page you were reading. You stood up and turned to him. "Let's go!"
The two of you walked towards the clubroom in silence, then you noticed him fidgeting with the book in his hand.
"Hey, is that the book Portrait of Markov?" you asked.
His eyes widened, and a small smile formed on his lips. "Yes, it is! Have you read it?"
You shook your head. "Not yet, but I do have a copy of the book. I'm planning to read it after this," you stated, pointing at the book you were reading earlier.
"Would you mind giving me a quick description of the story?" You asked.
His eyes sparkled. "Oh, it would be my pleasure to do so!" He said with confidence on his voice.
"it's about this girl in high school who moves in with her long-lost sister... But as soon as she does so, her life gets really strange. She gets targeted by these people who escaped from a human experiment prison... And while her life is in danger, she needs to desperately choose who to trust. No matter what she does, she ends up destroying most of her relationships and her life starts to fall apart." He explained with passion in his voice.
"Woah! That sounds like a really good one. I'm excited to get started on it!"
Yuki's eyes widened, his smile dissapearing. "O-oh, I think I've said too much..."
You chuckled and shook your head. "You'll be surprised on how talkative I can get once I talk about my favorite book so I completely understand how you're feeling. It's normal, don't worry."
He stared back at you. "It is?"
You nodded. "It's only normal to be excited when talking about something you're passionate on."
He smiled once again, his cheeks turning a dark shade of red. "O-oh..."
"Hey, why don't you join me read that book in the club?" You suggested.
"I-I would love to-" he stopped. "I-I mean... I'd like that."
You gave him a comforting smile as you both stopped in front of the clubroom doors. The door then suddenly opened by a coral pink haired boy.
"Yuki!" He cheered with a huge grin on his face, then his eyes widened as he stared at you. He then turned his head back to the room. "Guys, Yuki brought a new member!"
"L-let's go..." whispered Yuki as he grabbed your hands, his cheeks turning a darker shade of red before pulling you inside the clubroom.
You chuckled and gave him a comforting smile. "Let's go."
