Already Broken|| Sirius and Marlene
Marlene had gone out looking for Sirius. Again. It seemed that it had been ages since they⦠kissed. An it was something that Marlene still couldnāt get over. Finally. She thought about the word she had breathed in between the close contact. Because even if she didnāt fully realize it before, she loved Sirius. And she was always completely jealous of all the other girls she had watched him get with. But now it was her turn. She was going to make sure of it.Ā
If only she could find him. Of course, Sirius being such a free spirit (at least thatās what Marlene told herself) he still wasnāt showing up to classes and could never seem to hear her in the corridors when she called after him. But today she got lucky and managed toĀ sneak up on find him out by the Black Lake. āSirius!ā she called out, smiling and fixing her hair. Again, Sirius, totally oblivious, began to gather his stuff and walk away, āSirius you silly boy!ā she picked up speed, almost galloping after him until she realize sheād never catch up. So naturally she turned to magic, using the spell that he was so well known for. Levicorpus. Like a hook had grabbed his feet, the Gryffindor was hoisted into the air. Marlene marched up to the suddenly upside down boy, completely oblivious to any struggle he made to get out of the position. āYou and I both know we need to talk.ā her eyes sparkled as she put a hand on his upside-down face.
Sirius had been spending the past few days hating himself even more so than usual--he'd loathed himself enough for ruining Remus the way he had (he wanted to ruin him with kisses, ruin him for everyone else, ruin him with night where they stole touches with hands on soft skin with rough scars, ruin Remus as thoroughly as he had ruined Sirius), and then he went and kissed Marlene. The girl was one of the best friends he had, and of course he went and cocked that up because he couldn't keep his hands to himself. He'd been avoiding her, worrying he'd given her the wrong idea, and hoping just not speaking to her would do the trick.
Marlene, though, was a persistent creature, and of course she caught him eventually. He wasn't expecting, though, for her to hang him in the air by the ankles, and his eyes went wide as she approached him. "I could talk to you much better right side up," he managed, trying to play it cool. He was startled by the sudden jerking of his legs over his head; he'd been worried at first that there were a band of Slytherins seeking revenge. He'd been on his own so much lately he was a (seemingly) easy target. Seemingly, of course, because after the first time he'd been hexed in the hallway, he'd made the aggressors regret that choice so much he'd not been touched again. "You could, um, let me down. And we'd talk," he suggested, trying to avoid her eyes.

How did we travel to Spanish food?
Never mind, mate.
Fine, but weāre not done here.
I'm pretty done.
How did we travel to Spanish food?
Never mind, mate.
Iām a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a burrito.
Burrito?
...Never mind, Longbottom.
Have you ever considered that youāre not as bad as you seem to believe you are?!?
Have you considered that Iām much better at faking it than you think?
Are you?
Faking everything, I mean?
Because youāve been like this since I met you, Sirius Black.
I'm a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a burrito.
My God,ā he gasped, āyouāre fun to kiss.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tender Is The Night (via theorthodoxheretic)
I know the night is not the same as the day: that all things are different, that the things of the night cannot be explained in the day, because they do not then exist, and the night can be a dreadful time for lonely people once their loneliness has started.

Youāre not selfish, or stupid, or hurtful. Iāve seen you defend your mates to the point of having your arse kicked. Youāre at the top of our class without even trying. Yeah, you can be hurtful, but never to the people you love out of spite. We all make mistakes, Black. Most of us just man up and try to fix it.
Thereās only so many times Iām willing to make mistakes over him. He doesnāt need that.
Ugh. Iāve remade the āwait until heās more rational and let him decideā thing time and time again., and you STILL WONT LISTEN
Because it's stupid. He doesn'tĀ haveĀ a rational for me. The idiot always sees the best of me.

There is no better. There is no worse. We are ALL JUST PEOPLE. And once again LET.
HIM.
DECIDE.
When his reasoning isnāt masked by the pain let him decide.
Don't be an idiot. All animals are equal but some are more equal than others and all that. All just people does not negate the fact that I, entirely objectively, am selfish and stupid and hurtful, and he is not.
