Stone Ocean gotta be one of the funniest stories ever because all Jolyne had was some string and a dream as she was trying to deal with rapid fire amnesia, meteors raining down from space, size fetishists, flying dildo bugs, and like. God.
person: what is jojo even about?
me: uh……………………………………………………
Can’t forget about this one
Path to Nowhere Jojo collab had such pretty illustrations
Slutted Anasui tf out
Jolyne you were meant to get into the punk scene and lose all your life savings at raves </3
I love it when the objective power of a Jojo's stand is inversely proportional to the level of threat they are facing. Josuke and Giorno are trying to kill one (1) criminal and clean up their hometowns, so they obviously need power over life and death and time itself. Meanwhile, Jolyne is out here trying to prevent the heat death of the entire universe using 300 feet of hempen rope
Gappy using bubbles to destroy an entire subspecies of humans who are inflicting a curse upon his family through magic drug dealing

I think part of the reason I’m so attached to Stone Ocean is because there are lots of blatantly implicit queer themes intertwined in it, but it doesn’t feel like… sanitary gay rep (I mean this in the nicest way possible). Like you have a diabolically unhinged gender nonconforming asshole, a man-hating lesbian who closes off her emotions, a non-human non-binary somewhat transfem plankton hivemind, a bisexual with anger and daddy issues, and a priest who is very clearly closeted in a manner that can be interpreted in a plethora of different ways. And while very direct and upfront representation is ALWAYS important, for my specific and complex relation to gender identity and sexuality, this level of nuance and ambiguitymakes me feel very seen. It’s interpretive, but is also preaches that you don’t have to confine yourself to strict labels, and are allowed to just feel what you feel. Binary WHO???
To me, it feels like as if the characters themselves don’t even fully know the depths of their own identity, they just have general feelings, but they come to find solace in that. We as humans are very multifaceted- we have confusing and often conflicting ideologies and identities, and that’s perfectly OK, it’s what makes us special. I geel that’s something that we don’t see a lot in LGBTQ representation, that level of unsureness, not being able to comfortably box yourself into one or two, neat labels.
All of this really lines up with the major themes and messages of the part, which is to not let yourself be defined by what other people’s expectations. Everything from the erratic and odd fashion, diverse personalities and motivations, to the fact that the entire setting revolves around being trapped in an unhealthy, restrictive environment, works to achieve this in a fascinating and beautiful manner. To me, Stone Ocean is an unabashedly campy, faggy queer story about breaking free of heteronormativity and religious bigotry. For that, it will always be my favorite story.
HOLY SHIT WELCOME BACK FOOLYMES
