Financially, I can’t wait to track, track, track my spending, my savings. My main goal for 2017 is all about personal finance; I want to understand investing and slash my credit card debt down to $0. I also want to have at least 3 months in emergency savings and a travel/savings fund. I want to buy fewer things, fewer clothes. When I do buy things, I want them to be of quality or something that is necessary and beautiful. There are so many free things to do in DC that I don’t take advantage of!
Emotionally, I want to create better headspace. 2016 was a lot of FOMO, a lot of comparison to others. I found myself spiraling on Snapchat because while I was go-go-going about 80% of the time, the rare day or evening that I was alone felt like a failure. I want to spend more time in 2017 focused on personal projects and ways to feel fulfillment that doesn’t come tied up in external validation; I’d like to volunteer in my city and read more; revel in moments of solitude instead of allowing it to feel like a result of not having friends (I have amazing friends). I think less time on social media, more time writing and reading will help here. I also want to learn how to post and share things more authentically, without being in pursuit of ‘likes.’ Also consciously acknowledging that I should be okay with being alone and that’s not the same as being lonely. I’m also going to buy an alarm clock (!) and start charging my phone in the hallway to eliminate late night social media checking, liking, double tapping, swiping, etc.
Professionally, I’d like to hustle my way to a promotion by mid-year/by my 1-year mark at work. I’d also like to get in earlier and step up my game with actually taking lunch and eating with people I may not know very well. We do a weekly “lunch pairing” at work and I want to try and take advantage of that.
That’s about it! Here’s to a year of more self love and more authenticity, less spending and less comparison. And more lipstick; definitely want to wear more lipstick.
Hard to sit here and be close to you, and not kiss you.

Kiss her. Slowly, take your time, there’s no place you’d rather be. Kiss her but not like you’re waiting for something else, like your hands beneath her shirt or her skirt or tangled up in her bra straps. Nothing like that. Kiss her like you’ve forgotten any other mouth that your mouth has ever touched. Kiss her with a curious childish delight. Laugh into her mouth, inhale her sighs. Kiss her until she moans. Kiss her with her face in your hands. Or your hands in her hair. Or pulling her closer at the waist. Kiss her like you want to take her dancing. Like you want to spin her into an open arena and watch her look at you like you’re the brightest thing she’s ever seen. Kiss her like she’s the brightest thing you’ve ever seen. Take your time. Kiss her like the first and only piece of chocolate you’re ever going to taste. Kiss her until she forgets how to count. Kiss her silent. Come away, ask her what 2+2 is and listen to her say your name in answer.
