Update, i seem to have triggered every tranny on Tumblr with this post so instead of replying to all of you I’ll just request one thing from you: please explain to me what makes being trans so great. I will publically apologize if anyone can give me a logical, well founded, not dependent on feminism, reason as to why trans>cis. I might be a tragic, pessimistic little snowflake but i really don’t see what makes trans so magical and cute and ideal. But by all means, prove me wrong. Im waiting.

THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS

Transgenderism is a complicated syndrome. I know many people get very worked up over the issue of calling it a mental disorder and though the majority of people who are offended by this I do not agree with, I do not believe the word disorder is a perfect fit. Though gender dysphoria does cause me a lot of distress it is not an illness as it cannot be cured and it is not caused by external forces. I’d much rather think of it as a developmental syndrome similar to autism where the structures of the brain develop in such a way that the mind recognises it’s consciousness as one of the opposite sex and refuses to accept the physical contradiction of that belief. This being said, there is concrete evidence supporting this syndrome. Scans, x-rays and documented research on the differences in transgendered individuals brains that medical professionals believe to be the cause of the distress. There is no such evidence to support nonbinary individuals and I often think nonbinary individuals mistake their gender identity with gender expression. Taking a smaller dose of testosterone does not make you a boy, cutting your hair short does not make you a boy etc. I think the culture of teenagers today too often glorifies being transgender. Decorating their list of labels and titles with meaningless “aesthetic” words like flower boy or star kid. Being transgender is not a pleasant experience, I know that from first hand experience but my belief of not wishing this upon anyone else does not make me internally transphobic. I do not hate myself or other actually transgender individuals. I think people also often argue that my views are old and outdated but I’m 14 years old and I still hold these beliefs so nobody can argue that I’ve been brainwashed by the culture of my generation. And a lot of people will also say “well what does it have to do with you? let other people live their lives”. That’s the thing though. It does affect me. If I have to have teachers, students and family questioning the validity of my claims as a result of the unnecessary glorification of being LGBT and am subsequently denied treatment then it most certainly does affect me.
