IT ISNâT THAT HE HASNâT been shot before â he has â but thereâs something about being shot in the chest that just pulls him to the floor like a marionette separated from its strings. his eyes close, too weak to open again. instincts to get up and fight are barely felt. he gives in to the darkness, to the void of nothing trying to envelop him.Â
SMALL MUTTERINGS BEGIN TO LEAVE his lips as activity resumes around him. shooter is gone, but someone is standing over him. light begins to seep through the darkness. warmth attempts to kindle underneath the cold heâd already begun to succumb to. eyes finally open slowly with a pained grunt. he blinks a few times, only catching brief glimpses of the other man at a time.
âWHO⌠THE HELL ARE YOU?â he barely gets the words out, hand lazily reaching for his gun thatâs too far away, blood still pooling around him. he abandons his goal, head falling tiredly onto his arm. âif youâre here to finish what⌠the other guy started⌠could you hurry it up?â a bitter laugh. âi havenât got all day here.â

Weird things happen, Junior knows this. Because what is life in SHIELD without a string of weird random things happening at all times? No, the life of a SHIELD agent is to deal with the weird, no matter how not ready for it you are. So of course, following any and all SHIELD tradition, weird things must happen to him.
And of course, time travel. Because if Coulsonâs group had their time traveling adventure, it was bound to then happen to someone else. It was always a ripple effect thing. So when it happened, Junior found himself resisting the urge to scream in irritation. No, he wasnât shocked or afraid, he was irritated. Until he heard a way too familiar voice and the light bulb turned on.
He took off running towards the voice just as he heard the sound of a shot by silencer and a thud. He didnât stop until he had tackled the shooter and knocked him out clean, securing the person to make sure there was no escape that he turned to the owner of the voice. His grandfather, lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Hurt, but alive. And talking too.
âGlad to see the shot hadnât damaged your sense of humor...â Junior said as he grabs the nearby telephone and called for help before kneeling down to his grandfather to check the wound, âIâm gonna have to take a look and stop the bleeding...â
