You hated going to mechanic shops. The men always made you feel stupid and tried to rip you off.
Well ever since you moved to a different state, you had no choice but to do so. There was no more of the ‘dad, fix my car’ or ‘dad, get my car fixed’ luxury for you.
You were good for the simple stuff like topping up your motor oil, antifreeze and window wiper fluid but anything more complex you had no idea about and could not fix yourself.
Naturally, just before the Christmas holidays, your car started making a weird noise. It usually picked the worst possible time to act up. This time was no different.
The only way you could make the drive to your parents like this would be if you had a death wish, so pushing through the dread, you looked up a new mechanic shop that hasn’t left you with PTSD yet and got on your very much not merry way.
You pulled into the parking lot and stared down the logo of the shop. THOR’S AUTO it said in big bold blue letters. Praying that the mechanics would be nice, you took a deep breath, left your car and walked into the place.
The bell chimed as you entered. Right away you noticed there was no one tending admin. “Hello?” You called at the counter. Tapping your foot nervously, you waited for someone to show up. But nobody did.
Just as you considered leaving, the sound of voices drew you to the open side door that led to the garage. You peeked in.
“Brother, I told you to stop speeding.” A disgruntled male voice grumbled from the side of a shiny black car.
“I do not speed. I drive at an adequate speed for what the circumstances call for.” The other man, standing a few feet from the mechanic, replied, sulkingly. “Perhaps the brakes you put in were faulty.”
“The brakes were not faulty.” The mechanic's face was hidden by the car lifted up in the air so you could not see his expression, if the stern words were paired with one. You only saw the bottom half of his body, covered by blue overalls. The other man's back was turned to you so all you could see of him was his black suit and raven hair falling in curls along his neck. Neither was facing you, so neither noticed you loitering.
“A year, a sole year they lasted! I changed your brakes last December!” The mechanic complained. “Do not tell me you don’t speed. Either that or you tailgate other drivers which is worse.”
The man in the black suit scoffed. A brief silence fell between them which you used as your opening. You cleared your throat.
“Excuse me, sorry,” you said softly. The man in the suit turned to you with a curious expression. “I was wondering if I could get some help?” You asked hopefully.
The man turned to the mechanic. “Brother–” He started.
“Loki, I will not hear the excuses and lies about how you do not speed!” The mechanic protested grumpily. “You treat this car like shit. You’re lucky, you have money to blow on it.”
“That’s not–You oaf! I’m trying to tell you that you have a customer.” Loki – if you heard that correctly – replied.
The mechanic stuck his head out from behind the car to get a look at you.
You were met with a blonde haired, bearded man whose blue eyes showed nothing but confusion. “I don’t have a 10 o’clock.” The mechanic said. “Do I?” He looked to Loki for help.
“Don’t you accept walk-ins?” Loki’s eyebrows knitted together.
“Oh, yes! I do!” He exclaimed happily. “Hi!” He greeted you with a wide grin, waving the ring spanner in his hand in what you assumed was trying to be a friendly wave but his hand was occupied, therefore the whole thing just looked uneasy. “Welcome to Thor’s Auto, I’m Thor!”
Loki facepalmed witnessing the exchange.
You waved back awkwardly. “I’m sorry to just barge in here, there was no one at the front,” you explained.
“Is Peter not tending the desk?” Thor frowned.
“The kid probably took his lunch break.” Loki sighed. “I’ll go help her.”
“Oh, would you?” Thor asked gratefully. “I’ll finish up in a minute here.”
“Yes, yes…” Loki waved his hand, dismissively. “I still remember a thing or two.”
Loki walked to the front with you and stepped behind the desk. “What’s the issue, miss?” He asked after clicking the mouse a few times.
“My car’s making a weird noise.” You played with your fingers nervously, trying not to stare at him too much. Mechanic shops already made you jittery but now the person helping you was drop dead gorgeous… which did not help, at all.
Loki hummed in acknowledgement as he typed away on the keyboard. “When’s the last time it’s had an oil change?” He asked.
“Oh, like three months ago? But I topped it up last week cause the light was on.” You replied hastily.
“Good girl.” He purred, looking at the screen. Your heart leapt in your chest and your eyes widened but he just continued like nothing happened. “And have you been doing that a lot?” His low voice rolled over your spine.
“Sorry, what do you mean?” You stammered, already preparing yourself to be made to feel stupid. You certainly felt like your brain was turning to mush.
“Oh, apologies, I wasn’t clear enough with my question. Have you been doing that multiple times a month?” Loki quirked an eyebrow.
A sense of relief washed over you when he didn't treat you like most mechanics in the past have. You paused thinking it over. It has felt like your oil got used up pretty fast lately.
“Oh yeah… I guess I have been.” You nodded.
Loki smiled softly. “There’s our issue then. A leak. The good news is my brother’s way more competent at repairing cars than he is with social interaction.” Loki assured with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. You couldn’t help but let out a little laugh at his joke. Loki gave a satisfied smile in return.
“You're a family business?” You gathered the courage to ask.
“It used to be, yes. Odin & Son's Auto it was called. Then Thor decided it needed to be named after him.” Loki snickered.
“And that bothers you?”
“I don’t mind. It was my father who insisted I learn the basics of car repairing, I, however, despised it. My favorite part was this.” He gestured to the desk. “Since it didn’t leave my hands greasy. Truthfully, this whole thing was always their thing…” Loki paused, contemplating how much more he should say on the matter.
“Okay, maybe I find it a little cliché that Thor called it after himself.” Loki admitted then the bell chimed, interrupting his tangent and the response on the tip of your tongue.
“Mr. Loki, I am SO sorry! Nobody was in, so I thought I could run to the sandwich shop real fast to get my lunch!” A teen boy rushed behind the desk, all out of breath, waving around a footlong sandwich.
“And then Mrs.Wanda wanted to know if you were back for good and if you still wanted to ‘get with’ Miss Sigyn and I could barely eat in peace cause she was asking so many questions about you–” The boy did quotation marks with his fingers.
“You tell that woman to mind her business.” Loki interrupted, scowling. “And for the love of god, breathe, Peter. Everything's fine.” His expression softened.
“It is? I mean yeah, okay, Mr.Loki…”
Loki nodded. Suddenly it was like a lightbulb went off in Peter's mind and he started talking again.
“Oh! But then, Mr. Loki, THEN she told me she'd make me another sandwich FREE OF CHARGE if I give you her phone number. And at first, I was conflicted because I know how you feel about Mrs.Wanda and she's married anyway! Which like ew? That's not okay, you have a husband Mrs.Wanda, act like it! But then I was like I CAN'T pass up a free sandwich! Either way, I only saw the car parked out front now so I ran back as fast as I could.”
“Peter…” Loki opened and closed his mouth. “Wait. You returned with a sandwich which means…” Loki said accusingly, narrowing his eyes.
“I took the deal?” Peter smiled sheepishly, holding out a card with a number to Loki who sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“She just won't let up. Why can’t she be interested in Thor instead?” Loki grumbled. “Please, put that in the bin, Peter. And stop using that mad woman for free sandwiches, don't you think that's a bit evil?” He scolded Thor’s intern.
Peter gasped. “She offered!” He exclaimed, pouting.
“Go see if Thor needs help, please. We can discuss this further later.” Loki urged him while you stood there still dumbfounded at the conversation that had just occurred.
“What’s the word, brother?” Thor walked into the front room, wiping his hands with a rag.
“Speak of the devil. A leak, dear brother, from what I heard.” Loki answered.
“Oof… Depending on what kind of leak, it might need to stay in until tomorrow. Is that okay? Do you have somewhere to be right now?” Thor looked at you worried.
“Oh, that’s okay, I’ll walk… I just need it done by Thursday so I can make the drive home.” You smiled.
“Thursday’s doable.” Thor nodded. You smiled and handed him your keys, gladly avoiding parking your car into their garage yourself.
“Peter, you need to tell me before you go out.” Thor reminded, clasping Peter’s shoulder as they headed outside to get your car.
“I'm sorry, Mr.Thor. You’ll never guess what happened at the sandwich shop though! So Mrs.Wanda was working…”
The front door shut behind the pair.
“Your number then.” Loki spoke up, interrupting the sudden silence that settled through the room.
“My number…?” You blinked.
“So we can call you when your car’s ready,” Loki could barely hold back his amused smile. You felt embarrassment creep up your neck.
Of course, that’s what he meant. Idiot.
“Right… The car, yes…”
You listed off the digits of your number, ready to escape this situation and how you’ve made a fool of yourself.
“Perfect.” Loki concluded. “Now, are you sure you don't have anywhere to be? Because I'm free until my meeting at 2 pm and I'm more than happy to play taxi.” He smirked at you.
“Oh. I– Uhm…” You'd already made a fool of yourself once, once more was nothing. “Coffee shop, maybe?” You suggested.
“Absolutely. Let's go. I'll take you out for coffee. And later we can check with Thor about the progress on your car.”

"I honestly don't know why I was expecting this idea to be straightforward."
Mobius had to be honest; this was entirely his fault. When Loki had told him he'd handle the costumes for the two of them, he should have suspected something brewed in Loki's mind right then and there. But Loki seemed agreeable and even enthused, and Mobius just didn't see all the potential ways Loki could be… Loki about this at the time.
Mobius suggests he and Loki do a couple's costume for a Tony Stark Halloween party. Loki takes the idea and runs with it.

Asgard is a beautiful planet with bright skies, gorgeous stars, and good people. The golden castle stands high in the middle of the planet, surrounded by a mass of people. Yet you’re the loneliest you’ve ever been. This is your new home, and you have to accept the fact that you’re not going back to your home planet.
You’re the Princess of Alfheim, and your planet has been at war with Asgard for centuries. Normally, your planet is a paradise, but some old treaty was broken between the two worlds, and now you’re paying for it. In order to renew the peace treaty, you were forced to marry Loki as a way to bring both worlds together.
Now you’re stuck on Asgard with a husband who you’re sure doesn’t love you. Thor, Frigga, and Odin are here to keep you busy, but you tend to keep to yourself. Maybe that’s why you and Loki work so well together. You’d rather spend time in the library than be out socializing.
You miss your friends and family, but you want to make this work. If you’re going to be here, then you may as well make the best of it. It’s not that Loki is mean, but he does dismiss you a lot. It’s like he doesn’t want you to be in his way for anything.
It makes for a very lonely life.
You’ve been here for about a year, but you’ve yet to explore the castle in its entirety.
The hallways are empty and dark, but the windows allow natural light to shine through. You pause by one of the open windows and admire the golden city below. Maybe it might do you some good to get out and explore the markets. If you’re going to be ruling this planet eventually, then you want to know the people who live on it.
The ballroom door opens, and a few of the female staff walk out. They are whispering to each other, but the halls are so empty that their voices travel.
“I hear this ball tonight is going to be better than the ones before it. Prince Loki and Princess Y/N will be the main event.”
Great. More attention on you. Asgard is known for its lavish parties. They invite almost everyone in the Nine Relams to the party, but only a few of them attend. It might be the only time you’ll get to see your family and friends.
This ball can be very exciting or a nightmare, and you’re going to do everything in your power to make it exciting.
You turn and walk towards your and Loki’s shared room. He doesn’t sleep much here. If you do see him here, he is either getting dressed or using the bathroom. Much like you expect, he’s not in the room. However, there is something on the freshly made bed.
“Loki, are you in here?” you ask, even though you know he’s not.
You walk closer to the small black object and grin. It’s Loki’s credit card. It’s loaded with more credits than you know what to do with. It’s not because he’s a Prince, and his father gives him an allowance. It’s because Loki participates in mischief across the galaxy. He’s grown his credit limit to something much higher than a Prince should have.
A note lies underneath the card, and you pick it up to read it.
DARLING
USE THIS CARD TO GET YOURSELF SOMETHING NICE FOR THE BALL. THERE IS NO LIMIT.
LOKI
A grin spreads across your face. Who are you to deny your husband’s demands?
“Say less,” you mutter to yourself.
Money has never been a goal of yours. It’s either you have it or don’t. When you were back on your home planet, you’d help out the citizens of Alfheim by holding fundraisers and putting together events for people. You were and are a respectful Princess of Alfheim. You want to do the same thing here, even if it means using your husband’s money to do something good.
The only friend you have on Asgard, Rachel, is all too eager to join you shopping. You didn’t even have to get two words out before she was agreeing to go with you. She doesn’t come from money, so she takes every opportunity to live a luxury life even if it’s for a few hours. She’s one of the best people you’ve ever known, so you’re going to spoil her today.
The first store you two visit doesn’t have much, but the second store does. It’s a store with tons of custom-made dresses, mostly for Princesses. If Rachel is going with you to the ball, she’ll need to dress the part.
“So, how’s life in the castle?” Rachel asks.
The female sales associate is grabbing some dresses she thinks might look good while you and Rachel are sitting on the couch in the dressing room. When the store found out the Princess of Asgard was coming into her store, she shut it down to cater to your needs only. You don’t like it, but you’re grateful for the peace.
“Lonely. I wish you were living there with me.”
“I’m always right around the corner from it.”
“Yeah, you are,” you smile.
“How is Loki?”
“Ugh,” your smile is lost, “don’t get me started. He may be drop-dead gorgeous, but he can be a real ass when he wants to. It’s like I don’t exist most of the time. I should be happy that he’s leaving me alone, but all I want is to have a conversation with him.”
“Have you tried talking to him?”
“When I can find him. He wasn’t so happy with our marriage, so he already knew he didn’t like me before I moved here. Plus, with the whole history with Alfheim, I don’t look good in his eyes.”
“Still, Thor is there, right?” Rachel might have mentioned she had a crush on the elder brother when she was drunk. She even started calling you her sister-in-law. “I’m sure it can’t be all bad.”
“Yeah, when he’s not with his Earth friends, the Avengers. He’s been spending a lot of time off-planet to tend to the Nine Realms.”
“Is he single?”
You laugh as you nod. The saleswoman comes back with loads of dresses to try on. None of them caught your sparkle. Either they were too puffy, not long enough, too long, too much sleeve, or too bulky. Rachel is having fun trying on all these dresses, and you’re having fun in what feels like months.
“What do you think?” Rachel asks.
She walks out in a floor-length dress that sparkles. She can’t ever go without her sparkles. It’s purple and blue, and it complements her dark skin tone.
“I think this is your dress. You should get it.”
Rachel knows by now not to tell you that she can’t afford it because it’s all going on Loki’s card anyway.
“I think I might. I really like the way it sparkles.”
“We should go to another store. I haven’t found anything I like yet.”
Rachel catches the saleswoman's attention, and she beckons her over. “Do you have anything else for her?”
“I might have something in the back. It’s a design we just finished. We haven’t let it go to market.”
“Can we see it?” you ask.
“Of course. I’ll be back.”
The saleswoman comes back with the most gorgeous black dress you have ever laid your eyes on.
It sparkles under the bright lights. There are no sleeves because the top of the dress curls around the neck. One part is fabric, and the other is sparkly diamonds. There is a slit that runs from the top of the neck down to the middle of the dress. A top knot curls around the end of the slit, pulling material from both sides of the dress. A line of diamonds runs underneath the left breast. The length of the dress is longer than the mannequin is tall, so the material pools on the ground. There is another slit that starts mid-thigh and runs all the way to the ground. The entire dress is backless with a zipper on the back. Material pools in a singing motion in the back to cover the zipper.
It’s fucking gorgeous.
“That. You have to get that,” Rachel gasps.
“It’s on a mannequin, Rach. It’s probably not for sale.”
“On the contrary, Princess Y/N. I assume you’re looking for dresses for the ball?”
“Yes.”
“Imagine this dress on you, and thousands of Asgardians seeing my work. What better publicity can I ask for?”
“Are you sure?”
“I’d be an honor, Princess Y/N.”
“Come on, Y/N. Imagine you wearing this and black heels. Loki won’t know what’ll hit him. He’ll be speechless.”
“I do like the sound of that,” you chuckle. “As long as you’re sure.”
“Of course,” the saleswoman grins.
“I guess we’ll take both dresses then. I’m assuming you have shoes to match?”
“I have just the thing. Why don’t you try this on, and I’ll be back with the shoes.”
The dress fits perfectly, and it brings out every curve of your body. Rachel is right. You are smoking hot in this dress. It’s a bit more expensive than you’d pay for a dress, even as a Princess, but you allow Loki to pay for everything.
“Let me know what he does when he sees you in this.”
“I will. Let me know when you arrive.”
Loki is inside the main living room area when you walk in. The dress can’t be folded, so you carry a dress bag as carefully as you can. He looks up at you when you slide him his card.
“Have fun shopping, love?”
“Very. I can’t wait for you to see what I bought.”
You take everything to the bedroom so you can get ready. First, you want to take an everything shower, and that includes shaving everything the dress shows off. About halfway through the shower, someone barges into the bathroom without knocking, and you stiffen in alarm.
“Darling, you have an hour to get ready.”
Your body relaxes when you hear Loki’s voice. It’s not that you’re shy around him. You two have had sex--hate/angry sex, but sex nonetheless. Still, you’re in the shower. “What? I’m in the shower! This couldn’t have waited?!”
“No.”
You wipe the water from your eyes. “Why an hour? The party doesn’t start for another five.”
“Yes, but Mother wants us while the guests are showing up.”
“Okay, I’ll be ready.”
Loki leaves, and you relax fully knowing he is gone. You shouldn’t behave this way because he’s your husband, but he’s a very intimidating man. After the shower, you do your hair and makeup for nearly an hour. The last thing you do is slide into the dress. Perfect. You can’t wait to see Loki’s face when he sees you in this.
Once fully dressed, you step out into the bedroom where Loki is. He is sitting on the small couch reading a book.
“So? What do you think?”
“You look nice,” he says without looking up.
You should have known he was going to behave this way. You scoff loudly and turn to leave when Loki finally looks at you. He does a double-take with his jaw dropped several inches. He shoves the book away from him and stands swiftly. Before you can open the door, he presses his front into your back. You can feel every inch of him through the thin fabric of your dress.
“Go change.”
Cue the record scratch. “What?”
You turn in his arms, and he walks you to the wall next to the bedroom door.
“I said, go change.”
“No, you told me it was fine. What’s wrong with this dress?”
Loki leans in close, his mouth at your ear. He barely licks the shell before nipping the cartilage. “I don’t want other men looking at my wife in this dress.”
You scoff. “What is your problem?”
“Go change.”
“No. Are you jealous?”
“Darling, I’m possessive. There’s a difference. You’re mine, and I don’t want other men to look at what’s mine.”
With a chuckle, you slide your hands down his suit and press your lips to his neck. You lick his skin over his pulse point, which you can feel racing. You kiss up his jaw and brush your lips over his.
“Guess who gets to take it off me tonight?”
You move away from him, but he wraps his hand around the front of your neck. He slams his lips against yours in a bruising kiss. There is nothing about this kiss that you control, but you don’t mind it. He slides his tongue into your mouth and licks every inch. Your knees wobble, but his body is enough to keep you from melting to the ground.
You find the willpower to pull away from him, and you run your hands down his tie. “Change your tie to your blue one. It looks better with your eyes. We leave in ten.”
With that, you turn and leave the bedroom, and you smirk when you hear his low growl.

It’s your favorite time of the year. Halloween! You love everything about it--decorating, dressing up, haunted houses, and even passing out candy to children. There is a local carnival in town for the holiday, and you’re working the haunted house as one of the scare actors. It’s just a way to make extra money while you’re on fall break.
You take the small paintbrush and dip it into the black paint. You brush over your eyelids so that there are two dark circles around your eyes. You’re going for a sunken-in skeleton look. The rest of your face is covered with white paint. It’ll look good with the black clothes you’re going to wear, which you painted with white to show your skeleton body. It’s not going to be perfect, but nothing about this night is perfect.
After putting the finishing touches on your costume, you leave your room and enter the living room. Steve and Natasha are cuddling on the couch, Sam is sitting next to them, and Bucky is standing behind the couch.
“How do I look?” you grin and show off your costume.
“Nice.”
“Very scary,” Natasha smiles.
Bucky refuses to look at you, and you frown at him. “What, are you scared or something?”
“No,” he mutters.
Big man afraid of a haunted house? Unheard of, but Bucky is. He doesn’t like to tell people this, but he gets scared easily. Maybe it’s the trauma of getting his metal arm. He doesn’t mind Halloween, he just hates haunted houses. Being stuck in the dark, in a small room, where anyone can jump out at him. No thanks. That’s when he starts swinging, and he’s scared he’ll hurt someone with his metal fist.
“Whatever. Look, you all get free tickets to the haunted house. You should come.”
“Why are you even doing this?” Sam asks. “You don’t need the money.”
“No, but it’s fun, and I love Halloween. Plus, it’s always good to have extra cash on hand.” You grab your bag and sling it over your shoulders. “Don’t wait up for me. I’m going to Loki’s place after I get off.”
“So, it’s getting serious?” Bucky asks before he can stop himself.
Sam and Steve look at each other, but they don’t say a word.
“Not really. I’m not his girlfriend. It’s casual. I’ve seen him a few times since we got together, but we’re not rushing things or putting a label on it.”
No one says a thing because they’re all thinking the same thing. Bucky is worried about you. He knows you by now. He knows the kind of girl you are. He’s seen the movies you watch and the books you read. You’re a hopeless romantic. You crave dates and cuddles and attention.
“You don’t do casual, Y/N,” Bucky says nicely.
“Maybe I can this time. I’ll be okay.” Bucky isn’t too sure. “Okay, good night. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
Like all the other nights, the haunted house was super fun. It’s thrilling to scare children and teenagers. You’ve even seen a few of your own students at the haunted house. Afterwards, instead of going to Loki’s place, he rented out a hotel room in the place where he’s doing his magic act. He didn’t want to go home with you only to come back here. Not that you don’t mind. Any night with Loki is a good night.
Are you falling for him? Is this what falling for someone feels like? You like his company, and the sex is great. Maybe Bucky is right. You don’t do casual. Maybe if you bring this up to him, he’ll change his mind and want to be with you exclusively.
You love magic and want to see one of his acts, so you stayed in the hotel for the entire day until his show started. All the ladies fawn over Loki. You don’t blame them. He’s very attractive. Seeing the woman in the front row with googly eyes for him makes you a little jealous. You hate that little green monster, but you can’t help but accept it for what it is.
You like Loki. A lot. You want to be the only one he is seeing.
You look at the time and realize the haunted house starts in two hours. You have to go now if you want to make it home to change into your costume. Loki hasn’t come to the carnival to see you, but he still has tomorrow night. That’s the last night. When Loki has a minute to himself, you sneak backstage to see him.
“Loki!”
“Hey, darling.” Loki pulls you into him and kisses you possessively. Every time he kisses you like this, you fall just a little harder for him. “Did you see my show?”
“Yes. You were very good. Listen, I have to get ready for the haunted house later. You’re still coming over after, right?”
“Of course.”
“Okay.” You smile. “I’ll see you then.”
Loki kisses you again, a bit longer than last time. You want to stay here and be with him, but you have other obligations that require your attention. You pull away from him and leave before you jump his bones right there.
When you walk into your apartment, you gasp when you see what’s happening on the couch. Natasha and Steve are making out on the couch. She is wearing professional clothing, so she probably just got back from showing a house or an apartment. When they hear your gasp, they break away from each other, and you blush slightly.
“Sorry. Carry on.”
You walk into your room and start to get ready for the haunted house when Natasha walks in.
“Sorry about that.” You wave her off. She deserves to be happy. “So, how are things going with Loki?”
You’re about to answer when the front door opens. Bucky walks in with a redhead on his arm, and she is smiling at him like she adores him. She runs her hand over his clothed chest, and you narrow your eyes slightly. This level of jealousy isn’t the same as the one you experienced with Loki. Can you even call this jealousy? You have no right to feel this way. You aren’t doing anything about your feelings for Bucky, and it’s clear he won’t, either.
“Things are going great with Loki. I just got done watching one of his shows. He’s really good at magic. All the girls were fawning over him. Not that I can blame them. He’s extremely good-looking. I’m excited he’s coming over after the haunted house.”
There’s a look in Natasha’s eyes, something you can’t quite place. “Are you falling for him?”
“What? No. This is casual. It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure? I know the kind of person you are.”
“I’m fine. Seriously. Everything is okay.”
“Okay,” she trails off.
“You’re coming to the haunted house tomorrow night, right? It’s the last night.”
“I wouldn't miss it,” she smiles.
Steve pops his head in when he hears your conversation. “We already have our costumes picked out. We’re going as the Joker and Harley Quinn.”
You look at Natasha with an amused look. “You’re going to dress like her?”
Natasha looks at Steve and touches his cheek gently. “For him, yes.”
The smile is lost on your face when you hear giggling coming from Bucky’s room. The redhead. You glare at the door as if your glare can cut holes in it. “Does she have to be so loud? Jesus.”
Steve and Natasha don’t say a thing. The night goes by smoothly, and you’re back home before you know it. Loki meets you an hour after you get home, so you’re already cleaned up and ready to spend the night in.
Loki hasn’t kept his hands off you since the moment you stepped into your room. Right now, he’s kissing your neck while running his hands up and down your legs. This is a good way to wake up in the morning, but you can’t seem to get out of your own head to enjoy this the way you should.
“Wait, wait,” you whisper.
He pulls away from you. “What’s wrong?”
“I just… I need some water. I’ll be right back, okay?”
“Okay,” he nods.
You slip out of bed and put on your pink robe. You quietly leave your room at the same time Bucky leaves his room. His date must be in his room if his hair is this disheveled.
“Hey. Loki is here.”
“Amelia is here, too.”
So, that’s her name. You try not to let it bother you.
“Listen, I think I might like Loki.”
Bucky’s smile falls. “I thought you said you weren't going to fall for him.”
“I know, but…” You take a deep breath and decide to just go for it. Consequences be damned. “Look, I haven’t exactly been honest with you. I do like Loki, yes, but--”
Bucky’s door opens, and Amelia pops her head out. You immediately shut up and step back. You can’t believe you were going to confess your feelings for Bucky. No, he’s into Amelia.
“Hi, you must be Amelia. I’m Y/N.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you,” she grins. “I’ve had a crush on Bucky for the longest time, and I decided last night was the time to just go for it. Now look at us.”
Before he can say anything, she pulls him down to her and kisses him. You immediately look away before you do something rash, like punch her in the face. He’s happy. You can’t take that away from him. You slip back into your room without the water only to see Loki getting dressed.
“You’re leaving?”
“Yeah, I gotta go.”
“I’ll walk you out.” You open your bedroom door and see that Bucky and Amelia are gone from the hallway. Bucky is rummaging around in the kitchen, so you can only assume that Amelia has left. You walk Loki to the front door and pause to say goodbyes. “Listen, tonight is the last night for the haunted house thing. Here’s a crazy idea. What if you came?”
“I don’t really do costumes.”
“I’m gonna dress up. I think you should dress up, too. It’ll be cool… for me.”
Loki smiles and wraps his arms around your waist. “I’ll try to make it, darling.”
He leans down and kisses you softly. He leaves minutes later, and you bite your lower lip in thought. Bucky walks out of the kitchen holding a coffee mug. One that you got him.
“What if tonight is a test?” you ask him. “If he shows up wearing a costume, then he likes me.”
“Sound logic.”
“I know, right?”
“No, Y/N, I was joking.”
That night, you’re standing outside the haunted house before it starts with Bucky by your side. He’s cute in his little striped shirt and bumble bee ears. At least he put in a little effort. You’ve been waiting for Loki for the past thirty minutes, but no sign of him.
“I think I’m going to tell Loki that I like him. Tonight.”
Bucky isn’t too sure if this is a good idea. He’s seen you look at Loki. It’s not the same as when Loki looks at you. He doesn’t want to kill your spirit, so he says nothing about it. Amelia is here as a bee, and she is holding one of the pumpkins she carved.
“Look what I carved!” It’s a heart with an A and a B in the middle of it. “Do you like it?”
“Mmhmm.”
She grins and leaves to go back to the pumpkin-carving station, and you look at Loki. “You shouldn’t get her hopes up if you don’t like her. You should tell her how you feel.”
Bucky looks at you and glances down at your lips. Your face is covered with white and black paint, but your lips still look plush and soft like pillows. He is this close to telling you how he feels when he feels you stiffen. He looks up and sees Loki walking through the crowd. He’s wearing a simple black suit, nothing special.
“There he is.” You don’t sound excited. “He’s not wearing a costume.”
“Yeah, but he came,” Bucky says in a low voice.
“You made it.”
“I’m here.”
He leans down and kisses you, and Bucky steps away from you two. He looks back over his shoulder before walking over to Amelia. Better now than never. You break away from Loki because you have to go into the haunted house, but you’ll find him afterwards. Loki sits down on a bench and takes out his phone. Bucky didn’t have a great time telling Amelia that he wasn’t interested in her, but she understood. He walks toward the haunted house when he sees Loki smiling at whatever is on his phone.
“Hey, are you looking up new ways to do a card trick?”
“No, it’s a girl.”
Bucky’s smile fades. “I thought Y/N is working.”
“No, it’s another girl. It’s a weekend thing.”
“Does Y/N know you’re texting other girls?”
“Yeah, we’re both honest with each other. We’re not looking for a relationship right now. This is just casual.”
“You’re coming over tonight.” Loki doesn’t answer. He’s too engrossed in his phone. “She’s gonna talk to you.” Bucky looks at the haunted house and hates what he knows he has to do. You deserve someone better than Loki. All he’s going to do is break your heart. “Shit. You’ve got to be kidding me. Fuck.”
Still, Bucky heads inside the haunted house. He repeats to himself that this is just a fun thing and not to punch anyone who jumps out at him. The first half of the haunted house is just full of flashing lights and spooky decorations. That, he can handle. It’s when he gets to the halfway point that the actors start jumping out and scaring him.
He yells out and nearly punches someone, but he stops himself halfway. These are just people doing their job.
“I hate this. I hate this. This is my nightmare,” he mutters to himself.
Bucky rounds the corner, and that’s when an actor jumps out in front of him and screams. He doesn’t think this time and uses his flesh hand to punch whoever it is. It’s better than using his metal arm. His eyes widen when he sees the black and white paint on the actor’s face.
“Oh no! Y/N! Shit!” He kneels down and cradles your head in his hands. “I am so sorry. Shit. Are you okay?”
This night is officially over. Three of the other actors saw what he did. Two of them hassle Bucky outside while the other comforts you.
“Y/N, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to,” Bucky says.
“It’s fine. Guys, you can let him go. I’m okay.”
It’s not fine. Your cheek throbs in pain, but you know he wouldn’t have punched you if he knew it was you. What the hell was he doing inside the haunted house if he hates them?
“Y/N!” Loki jogs over to you. “What happened?”
“It’s fine. Bucky just punched me in the face.”
“What? Come on.”
“Y/N, I’m sorry!”
Loki takes you off to the side to a bench table that’s empty. You sit on the table, and Loki kneels on the bench to get a closer look at your face.
“Well, I’m not a doctor, but I think you’re going to be okay. It doesn’t look like you’ll bruise. Maybe some swelling. Come on, let’s get out of here.”
“Wait, Loki.” He sits back down at the table. “Um… I like you.”
“I like you too, Y/N.”
“No, I… I care about you. I want to ask you out for real. So, will you go out with me?”
The look on Loki’s face tells you everything you need to hear. Tears prick at your eyes, but you refuse to let them fall. You don’t want him to see you cry.
“I can’t.” You look away from him. “I told you what I wanted, and I wasn’t lying.”
“I just thought, maybe that something might have changed for you.”
“It hasn’t. This is still how I feel.” You look down and wring your fingers together. “Do you want me to leave?” You nod without saying a word. “I’m sorry.”
When Loki is gone, you put your head down and cry. Bucky watches Loki leave, and he looks at you. His heart breaks at the sight of your tears. He wants to go to you, but he has a feeling you don’t want to see him. Or anyone, for that matter. Without finishing the rest of your shift, you head home, eager to get changed and take care of the bruise that will likely form.
Bucky walks through the front door and looks around for you. You’re not in the kitchen or living room. Your bedroom door is open, and you’re not in there, either. He hears sniffling coming from the bathroom, and he peeks his head inside to see you sitting on the tile with your back against the wall.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” you whisper.
Bucky sits next to you on the ground and looks at you. “I’m so sorry, Y/N. I didn’t mean to hit you.”
“Why were you in there, Bucky? You hate haunted houses.”
“I don’t want to add salt to the wound.”
“Please, tell me.”
Bucky looks into your eyes and sighs. “Loki was texting another girl while you were working. I wanted to warn you because I knew you liked him. When you jumped in front of me, I got scared. I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. It’s not the worst thing to happen tonight.”
“Listen, you shouldn’t let this set you back. You should still put yourself out there. You deserve to be with someone who is crazy about you… who loves you.”
You look into his blue eyes. “Yeah, like who?”
Again, he looks at your lips. All he needs to do is lean in and kiss you. It ight be the worst thing he ever did, or it might be the best thing. You glance at his lips, but the moment is ruined when the front door opens and your roommates come in. Bucky pulls away from you with a sigh, and you wipe your eyes.
“Thank you for taking care of me. Good night, Bucky.”
You get up and leave the bathroom, and Bucky stays seated on the tile. He watches you leave with a sense of longing in his eyes. He can’t keep doing this. One day, one of you will crack, and he won’t know if it’ll be a good thing or not.

If we’re writing a multi chapter fic, could it account for multiple squares on our bingo card? For example: if I have Loki/Mobius, Mafia AU, and a song for three of my squares, can I write a multi chapter fic that is set in a Mafia AU with Loki/Mobius as the main people/ship, and the song inspires one of the chapters, would all three squares be fulfilled? I know different chapters can fulfill different bingo squares, but I don’t want to just have the Mafia AU or the Loki/Mobius ship for just one chapter. Thanks!
as long as each chapter is new and not something you went back to edit. one square per chapter so you can do three squares for three chapters if you’d like as long as there is one square per fic
