The Prince And His Guard (Dwarvenwarrior & ThorinTheMajesticOne)
He still remembered the young kid. He remembered him vaguely, and the incident on the narrow street at the slum. And since that day, if someone asked him about his first kiss, he didn’t answer. He was still young that day, when he walked alone and saw a big, dirty and drunken dwarf was about to strip and beat a little boy. He saved the kid, and accidentally — he didn’t remember how — he fell to the ground and the kid fell on the top of his body. Their mouths met.
Dwalin remembered the taste. He also remembered how beautiful the kid was, with striking blue eyes and dark hair. And his skin was smooth and flawless, like a girl — actually at first Dwalin thought the kid was a girl, the kid’s skin looked flawless and perfect in his expensive clothes, and Dwalin had already realized that the kid was from noble family. The young kid was trembled badly, but his eyes looked defiant. His facial expression looked haughty. He didn’t even thank Dwalin. Then, a dwarven soldier came with his horse, and pulled the kid away, then took him on his horse. The soldier hugged that kid so tight like hugging a precious thing. Then they left.
None of them thanked him.
Oh yes, Dwalin was bruised. He told himself it was just a scratch, laughed, and went home. Balin thought Dwalin fought with another boy, as always, and gave him his lecture. That night Dwalin made promise to himself to never save that kid if he meet him again. Dwalin wasn’t expecting a gift for his heroic action, but at least a word.. And, the brat forgot to thank him. No wonder if anyone wanted to beat him.
Years gone by.
Dwalin didn’t remember the kid’s face. He just remembered the kid was beautiful and had blue eyes. And there was uncommon for dwarves to have blue eyes. Only nobles had blue eyes. He didn’t care. He didn’t want to know who the kid is. He lived his life, became a soldier. His reputation grown, and now the king wanted to meet him. Everyone said he’d move up.
So, today he prepared himself and met the king at the throne hall, only to be told that now he’d be the personal guard of the king’s grandson. Dwalin’s eyes traveled to the young prince, studying his facial expression. For a moment he admired those blue eyes, without connecting the same eyes with the kid’s eyes in his past.
Thorin didn't like the idea. He didn't know why he must getting a personal guard. He can protect himself. He was a dwarf warrior. He was good with swords and axes. His father and grandfather knew it, but they still decided for him, and he had no choice but to accept. And now here he was, sulking quietly, especially when he met the soon-to-be-his-guard's eyes. Thorin glared. How dare that dwarf staring at him like this, even didn't bow his head to the prince?! Thorin put his chin up and folded his arms over his chest, his gaze traced the guard's form.
Well, the guard was tall for a dwarf, very well muscled; even more muscular than the young prince himself, and so tanned. Thorin could saw a series of scars and tattoos decorating the guard's skin. Some of them had been faded.
There was something about the guard's eyes. For a moment Thorin felt like he had seen them before, but then he reminded himself that the guard was Balin's brother, and both had similar eyes.
His grandfather talked again, not to him, but Thorin gave him his full attention. His eyes left the guard's form, didn't remember what happened in the past, when he was a little kid... Sometimes it came back, as a dream, and when he woke up he remembered it vaguely: He was separated from his retinue, and there was a peasant dwarf threatened him, and then another dwarf was there.. and then one of his father's soldier came and saved him and brought him back to his father. And, in another night he remembered the kiss. He remembered he fell on the top of a male dwarf, gasped, and their lips met. And....
His grandfather had stopped talking, and Thorin jerked his attention back to his new guard. He didn't like him, but he must show courtesy, so he gave a light nod of greeting.
