why does gitae look more related to shingen than gun does lol
PS- You just realized that Shingen might be a greenish flag going through a forest fire moment and that he was a actually a sweetling who could smile, SOMEONE WITH FEELINGS!!!!!-before he became this yamazaki shit and that he tried to protect gun as one of his last fatherly acts I CAN'T-
Idk who is Gitae but he should be having tons of smut by now:

I agree with you, anon but I need to know one thing...
WHO IS THAT OTHER GORGEOUS ADONIS ON THE LEFT?!?!?
all of us once we realize how of a big red flag Gitae is
I will not deny the absolute troglodyte degenerate filth that went through my mind (and remains a permanent squatter) seeing these panels. I can only hope that they also ran through PTJ's mind as well...
It will never not be funny that Jake's brother is just sitting in the corner of the room while Daniel and James Lee are yapping away about the second body, Charles Choi's death, schemes and shenanigans. Like...Daniel? Do you not notice this 6ft5 god just casually there??

LUO BINGHE HAS A "STEREOTYPICALLY MASCULINE" APPEARANCE
Rating: FANON - CONFLICTING
In fanworks, Luo Binghe is often portrayed as particularly muscular and buff, broad-shouldered, often with tanned skin and sharply-defined features-- all traits that are considered to be stereotypically masculine in the west.
All of this directly contradicts his canonical description.

LUO BINGHE HAS CURLY HAIR
Rating: FANON - UNSUPPORTED
Luo Binghe's hair texture in the novel is not described as either curly or straight. There is only one place where his hair texture is referenced at all:
Shen Qingqiu forced his eyes open and looked down, only to find a small head with a curtain of soft black hair. (7 Seas, Ch. 28)
The idea that Luo Binghe canonically has curly hair was likely cemented within western fanon because of the EN TL official art depicting his hair as curly. However, the depiction of Luo Binghe with curly hair as a headcanon originates before the Seven Seas novels were released.
There are multiple editions where the cover art depicts a wavy-haired Luo Binghe, including Burmese, Korean, Thai (though this one is only very slightly wavy, if it isn't just an atmospheric detail), revamped Taiwanese, and of course the English version, which is by far the most curly.
However, all of these releases occured in 2020/2021, which is after the depiction of Luo Binghe with curly hair was already popularized in fandom.
The most likely original source for this headcanon is the fact that Luo Binghe is commonly compared to a sheep or lamb:
Such a selfless and considerate attitude! For a moment, Shen Qingqiu could almost imagine that he was a cute and harmless little sheep grazing on the grass and playfully nudging Shen Qingqiu’s knees, bleating, “baa baa.” (CNoveluv, Ch. 33) With that considerate display of selflessness, for a moment Shen Qingqiu could almost believe that the individual before his eyes was still that bleating, grass-loving little lamb who had huddled behind his knees. (7 Seas, Ch. 6)
This is just one of many such comparisons made throughout the novel-- though the comparison is always made to describe Luo Binghe's personality rather than his appearance, it could certainly draw an association with curly/fluffy hair, and influence the way he is portrayed in fanart.
For example, this post by @/zeldacw from 2018 (a year after the first major EN fantranslation projects began) directly states that this comparison is the origin of that particular artist's headcanon and depiction. By that point in time, the depiction was not yet as sweepingly popular as it became later on, though there had been a few other depictions of curly-haired Luo Binghe by that point in time.
However, by 2019, a comment on the BCnovels translation was made which states: "Many of the fanarts of Luo Binghe that I have seen pictured him with soft curly hair. I’m quite fond of the idea actually, it gives him the innocent child-like image"
By this point in time, the depiction of Luo Binghe with curly hair has taken off enough to become common, but it is not yet assumed to be canon. It's reasonable to assume, though, that the cover artists followed off of this same trend in fandom.
Now that the official cover art of the books depicts Luo Binghe with curly hair, despite his hair texture never being directly stated in canon, the official art is taken to be a canonical depiction especially by new fans joining the fandom through these official editions, and by fanartists continuing to keep up with the trend of drawing Luo Binghe's hair as curly.
However, common fandom depictions give his hair an even curlier, fluffier, or coilier texture than the cover art does.
This has no basis in the novel's text.
One additional statement that is commonly tossed around as a source is that Luo Binghe's hair is described as fluffy. This is an incorrect statement-- nowhere in the novel, whether the official translation or fantranslations, is Luo Binghe's hair described as being "fluffy."
(many thanks to @verycharismaticdragon , @loxare , @mochhio , @nottherailtracer , @iwhateveryou , @danmeiireader for positing potential sources, and @furbygoblinxiv and @cum-villain for timeline sleuthing!)
I've heard it said plenty of times that all Chinese people have naturally straight black hair. This is not true (I say as a wavy-haired Chinese person who gets tired of the erasure sometimes). It's not common, but it's not as rare as people think-- but wavy or curly Chinese hair behaves differently from other ethnicities'. It's relatively coarse and stiff, has a tendency to be frizzy, and (at least in my own experience) almost impossible for there to be any kind of uniformity to the curl, and takes a lot of work to style well-- many Asian people with curly hair will just straighten theirs instead.
One could argue that because Luo Binghe's hair texture is never described as curly or wavy, then there is no reason to think that it would deviate from the typical straight hair. In my opinion, this is significantly likely. Without the EN art, I would certainly not imagine Luo Binghe to have curly hair, and would assume it was straight.
There are also Chinese beauty standards to keep in mind, which overwhelmingly favor straight hair.
Of course, because it is never directly stated whether he has or doesn't have wavy or curly hair, it cannot be said that it is against canon. Furthermore, his appearance has a bit of an idol-like air to it, and some idols do have wavy or curly hair.
Therefore, it is not impossible that Luo Binghe has curly or wavy hair. However, since it would be likely that an uncommon hair texture would be described directly if it were intended to be canon, and Shen Qingqiu's narration would almost certainly have mentioned it with his tendency to gush over LBH's appearance, it is not particularly likely.
There's not really anything wrong with depicting Luo Binghe as curly-haired, and it doesn't even directly conflict with canon-- however, if he does have curly hair, he would have curly Asian hair (albeit, curly Asian hair that miraculously looks as though he had used a complicated hair routine but really he just woke up that way because he is the Protagonist™)-- so if someone isn't familiar with the hair type, it wouldn't hurt to do a little bit of research before drawing/writing about it.
However fans choose to portray it, though, it should not be assumed that Luo Binghe's hair is canonically curly.
inject this post into my veins 😭
Okay so there seems to be discourse over jinx manhwa's characters in this stupid site which seems somehow even more behind twitter. At least in twitter , even for clout, most people hate read the manhwa long enough to see and change their tune about Jaekyung by acting like they never said stupid things about him.
Here its not the case. Might as well be me to update things here, as well as I did there.
First of all, before anyone goes and says JKY is "r*pey" asshole, its debunked in the first 3 chapters of them being together already. Dan might be desperate for money, but nobody is holding a gun on his head to take this offer, not even JKY. JKY TELLS HIM TO GET OUT multiple times if this is not his scene...Dan CHOOSES NOT TO
Dan is the one who acts like he is being tricked or coerced. When Jaekyung told him if he doesn't want to do it he can go. Before, DURING and even after. Dan ghosted him for a week and Jaekyung dropped calling him after that week. On top of that...
If there is someone who is crying about having to make his own choices its Dan because he finds sexuality gross because of past SA attempt by that hospital director and most probably his upbringing under a conservative grandmother. None of which he ever told Jaekyung about.
The proof is in the pudding that after 20+ chapters. The things which used to make Dan cry in fright is what now gives him pleasure. So all his whining and crying against this was all that...a blatant misinformation by a character using biased POV! and its also not even the first time mingwa-nim wrote like this. The biased and misleading information character impart on us is even present for Jaekyung like when he said his shoulder is acting up being a lie, but his X-rays show he DOES have a broken shoulder bone there which no way doesn't act up once in a while.
So the question is..why is Dan then acting so miserable and unhappy? Clearly rough sex is not the problem. The arrangement is definitely not the problem either since he not only got money but got rid of the loan sharks who were never going to let go of his loans and interest. TLDR
He has abandonment issues because of what happened with his parents so he latched on co-dependently on his grandmother. He decided to dedicate his entire life to his grandmother and stay by her side that he NEVER made any plans which did not include her aka NO MARRIAGE, no life partner. NO NOTHING.
2. The co-dependence is so bad that he has NEVER left his grandmother's side enough . Not even for his studies, for he lacks foresight in to what could even be the market price for renting another place when he had to find another place to live. Most people his age have already lived away from their guardians by age 29 for either sake of college or even military service. He is even scared to even think about the possibility of her dying, which is a very unhealthy way to process death and mortality, anyone with any sense would tell you this much.
3. Whenever Dan thinks of sexuality in negative way, his mind is filled with the terror of SA that happened due the previous hospital director he worked with. However he says "sex has always been so scary" which implies he has had too much sex when he hasn't even with Jaekyung( I can count and its at best just 5 times till that time) . The fact he decided ALL of the men who have sex "perverted" because of one asshole's attempt belies influence of sex negative education in his life( its very similar to how conservative women and aunts talk here where they insist that sex in general is just an unpleasant experience and never expect anything more from it and if you do, you are a shameless sl*t/pervert)
His past abandonment issues, his codependency with his Halmoni, his trauma at hands of loan sharks and Hospital directors have all given massive issues but the most problematic is his abandonment issue. It stems from his childhood where a very young Dan was left abruptly without warning by his parents at his grandmother's care which has given him trust issues about intimacy in general. He compensates for that fear by deciding to work himself to the bone to keep his grandmaa happy. It even manifests for Jaekyung for when Jaekyung takes care of his Halmoni, he also decides he needs to basically entrench himself in Jaekyung's life by taking care of all his needs beside the Physio therapy one in gratitude. That is Dan's MO aka diminish himself for people who are nice to him in gratitude so they won't leave him.
So that definitely gives Dan impotency issues. For if he intended to stay by his Halmoni's side forever( which it seems he did) he cannot acknowledge he has sexuality at all let alone that he is gay. For if he did that would mean he would be reminding himself and Halmoni that he is a grown man, not a "little boy" who should be staying by Halmoni's side forever. Secondly, if Dan acknowledge it even this far, the bigger and more terrifying issue emerges that Dan is NOT straight. He is gay in a society which is disapproving of homie of sexuality!
Conservative guardians throwing out or cutting of relationships after coming out is a tragic cliche for a reason. I have no doubt its one of the key reasons why Dan lives in denial of liking sex and Jaekyung even as far as chapter 29
So really, One can criticize the character Jaekyung for not wanting to care for his sex partner but no one can say he is being exploitative, cruel or r*pey deliberately or is even written like that accidentally. I know fandom has a tendency to look at any baby faced, doe eyed man who is an uke as some victim who cannot be expected to understand or do anything on his own beside cry, but Dan is not a literal "baby"- He is a grown man. A grown man with loads of issues and personality problems he himself is not aware about. Just like Jaekyung is also a grown man with personality issues he himself is not aware about. That is what makes them each other's mirror and foil so they could overcome those issues TOGETHER.
This is not a story of a jerk being reformed by power of guilt and begging while the goody two shoes just...passively grumbles and cries. Those kinds of bl are out there of course, but this is one IS NOT IT.
Also would love to shout out @bebebisous33 who writes amazing essays on many manhwas including Jinx, so detailed analysis on both characters can also be found in her blog as well.
Honestly, agree. JK is toxic AF and this situation has major issues but he’s actually one of the best communicators in BL. From the start, JK is transparent about what he wants *sex for money* and *anything goes*. Dan can leave if he can’t accept that. 🤷♀️ Dan’s a grown ass man. He’s the one who chose to look deeper than what JK has explicitly said and seek out more.
Sure, JK would be the worst boyfriend, but this is not a boyfriend relationship. It’s a transaction, and Dan explicitly agreed to the terms.
Pearl Boy ended and I’m left with only one question, why was Dooshik ever in love with Jooha? He’s a toxic taker whose poor decision making, lack of character development and emotional and mental weakness has only ever gotten worse throughout the series. Sure, it can be an accurate reflection of an abuse victim but it doesn’t answer the question as to why it incites such devotion from what’s essentially a complete stranger.
Dooshik’s love feels less like a natural progression of a genuine and equal relationship and more like a forced crutch to enable Jooha to continue to be the teary eyed stereotypical abused bottom in a toxic BL.
Now don’t get me wrong, Dooshik himself also has a lot of problems. Which, funnily enough revolves around his choice of partners and willingness to stay in a toxic relationship where the other party only knows how to take. We can thank Dooshik’s abusive mother for his unhealthy perception of love and self care. She too only ever took from him to the point that she pressured him to confess to a crime committed by her boyfriend because Dooshik was underage and would get a lesser sentence. It explains why he would be so loyal in his relationships to Eunwoo and Jooha when it’s always been completely one-sided in effort.
Spoiler, even Jooha’s decision to *save* a cat in the middle of an icy lake, a cat that is light enough to run on ice and not break it, may or may not have lead to both his and Dooshik’s demise. Great job 👏
Just a reminder, Jooha’s debt could have been settled years ago if he had the intelligence to get the pearls appraised and sell them himself 🙂 Instead of, you know, relying on the man dead set on keeping him in eternal sexual servitude to be honest about their value and how much his debt is reduced by 🙃
Geumsan Lee’s artistic talents are wasted on Yunhee Woo’s trash writing. The best parts of Sadistic Beauty are the art, atmosphere and expressions which are aspects mainly controlled by the artist. It’s tragic thinking what Geumsan could do with a competent writer.
You got this.
