(Of course I haven't forgotten about my favorite man. It's just that life has been odd lately and surely writing has been hiding away in the innermost corners of my head I prepare to go back to school etc. Anyway, let's have a late birthday celebration for my one and only)

"Isn't there anyone in here that can soothe my aching heart??!" He sighs and smiles slightly when the sound of your voice echoes down the dark and dampened chambers of the Hassaikai lower base. He already know what's coming next so there's no point in arguining or putting you off (not that he truly wanted to anyway). Chisaki silently closed his notebook and laptop, slides his papers to the outermost corner of the desk, and waits patiently. Surely enough, here you come into the room bringing your loudest celebratory exclamations along with you. Quietly Hari comes in shortly behind, holding an arm full of bags and boxes. Chisaki looks at your arms and noticed the cold plastic container housing a small pink cake with strawberries adorning the top of it.
"Angel-" He begins to protest but you quickly shush him. "Kai I held up my end of the bargain and let you work most of the morning away but now it's lunch time and I'm ready to help you celebrate this special day!" You excitedly speak before placing the cake onto the desk's empty spot. Hari chuckled and placed the packages on the couches of the office. "Sorry boss man. I tried to distract her/him/them a little while longer while we were at the stores but it just didn't work out that way. Better luck next year though, eh?" Chisaki rolled his eyes at the man and quickly turned his attention back to you. His smile now dampening into a small frown. "There really isna't anything as special about me as you think. Since the day I was born, I've brought nothing meaningful to this life and those around me. Even my goals haven't been met just yet. I haven't repayed the old man and I haven't been a great partner to you lately either. I don't know why you insist on always treating me and this day like it's one of the most important there is or ever will be. Angel I'm not-"
Once again you find yourself silencing him, this time with a tug on his mask and a kiss to his soft lips. Hari smirks and turns around. "Just what the hell kind of celebration are you throwing anyway, Y/N? Should I be giving you two a little space instead?" He teases you. You pull away from the kiss and scoff. "Aren't you supposed to be getting the next room ready? The others will be wrapping up their tasks soon and I don't have anymore patience left Chrono. I want cake N O W." You tell him with a smile. He shrugs and laughs while walking away.
"Yeah yeah, I'm on it boss."
Once he's out of the room, you turn your attention back to Chisaki. "You're not a waste of time nor space Chisaki and I wish you'd stop saying those things about yourself every year. You mean a lot to me and even more so to Pops and the organiation as a whole. You heard him say it himself yesterday remember? About how proud he was that you were starting to do things honnorably now?"
"Was that before or after he began to ask us about grandkids? If you haven't noticed, the old man is going senile these days." Kai scoffed and you laughed. "Aside from that, you're doing a great job Kai and I'm so proud of you too. All I want this year is for you to have a good brithday and to actually celebrate and be happy. Is there anywhere you want to go today to take your mind off things?" You barely finished your sentence when he'd pulled you onto his lap in a sitting position. You scanned his face for anything hinting at the 'less than appropriate' but there was nothing there...yet. In place of the usual bored expression, he instead looked at you with loving eyes. A familair warmth crept back into your chest, settling into it's usual spot and making you feel like you were the only two people in the room or maybe even on the PLANET at this moment.
"I just want to be with you."
"Consider your wish granted birthday boy. Now less chatter and more cake. It's an ice cream cake and I'd hate to risk it melting." You stood from his lap and grabbed his hand. He nodded with a soft smile, covering his face back up with his usual black mask. "Or risk Rappa having eaten half the damn thing up like last year." You chuckle and nod in aggrement. "Wouldn't be the first time and certainly won't be the last!"
