thinking about the production history of elizabeth taylor and richard burton and on one hand some of the shows they’re most famous for doing together seem like awful things to do to each other on screen but at the same time. maybe doing a show where your lover hurts you is only something you can do and survive with someone you love very much. you can only snip at and deride someone off of a script when you know none of it’s going to be true. because at that point in time, what you know is that you love each other. and that’s what’s true.
