as an autistic person, einsamkeit will always be so autism coded to me. so heres an analysis as to why

take into account that a lot of this will involve my experiences as an autistic individual, as well as the fact that this analysis goes off of the english translated lyrics, meaning they may not be completely accurate.

the very first lyrics are “Though I look like i’m lecturing, i’m actually just talking”. this immediately strikes me as autistic. going off of my own experiences, i tend to say things or speak in a way that sound or sounds rude. i don’t actually mean to do so, and this is a very common symptom of autism.

next, “At times my face may look grim, but i’m actually just cold”. autistic people (like myself) have trouble controlling facial expressions. because of this, we tend to come off as sad, angry, or, as stated, grim.

the chorus and prechorus are “I don’t understand loneliness (x3), I want to be found”. in canon, germany has difficulty making friends. i read this as him misunderstanding social cues and not understanding as to why people find him scary or rude because of it. he doesn’t get why he is lonely.

during the outro, he says “You may think i’m frightening, but only because i’m straining to laugh”. another symptom of autism i personally have—not understanding or misunderstanding jokes or comedy.

thats mostly it, but i feel like germany is overall such an autistic character. even if he isn’t canonically so, you can definitely pick it up

My headcanons for Germany's dogs. Blackie's a shepherd, Berlitz is a hovawart, and (what I assume has to be) Aster is a great dane. On account of the fact that they're all drawn like muppets and the height Berlitz is at depends on the frame he has to fit into, this is obviously just what I like to believe.

Hovawarts are supposedly very sociable dogs, though also receptive to people's demeanour and quick to become assertive if they sense the opportunity, which is to say that Gilbert ranks below Berlitz in the pack hierarchy.

That up there is the only picture I think exists of what I assume to be Aster, from a card game of all things. At first I thought there were only two dogs, but it's canonically three. Aster is named after a type of flower!
