Here’s the difference between using size 10 crochet thread (left) and size 80 thread (right). These were made using the exact same pattern.
Shuttle tatting is kind of unique, in that since the stitches are made directly onto the thread (and not the tool as you would in knitting), the thread size is the sole determinant of the size of the project.
It makes shuttle tatting a much cheaper craft because you don’t have to buy a ton of different size shuttles.
ahhh, that looks so good! its really interesting to see how different portions of the pattern behave at different sizes! they look good!
A trade of 20 quilt blocks to one partner, 6x6 inches finished, "white and wild". 1. You must use white and at least one print and color fo
Here are the rules/guidelines.
1. You must use white and at least one print and color for each block. Avoid using licensed/character prints unless your partner says otherwise.
3. Use whatever technique you like, be it applique, foundation paper piecing, traditional piecing, etc.
4. Stick with quilting cotton, flannel, or batiks unless your partner gives the okay for other fabrics.
5. Use your stash and scraps. Please don't risk shopping for fabrics! I want this to be a safe and enjoyable project, not something to stress about.
6. This is within the USA only due to shipping costs.
7. This event will run from April 1st to April 30th, and everything must be shipped by May 1st. Provide your partner with a tracking number (these are free at USPS) for that extra anticipation and as proof you sent the blocks.
8. Ship all 20 blocks at the same time, preferably using a box. Please place the blocks in a resealable plastic bag to prevent water damage if the package ends up getting wet.
9. Include your tumblr blog name.
10. You're welcome to make more blocks but send only 20. Feel free to make duplicates of the blocks for yourself to make more quilts or a really big quilt. This is entirely up to you.
11. Please share the blocks on Tumblr, but don't tag your partner. This needs to be a bit of a surprise. In the tags, use #SpringBlockSwap so I can track the posts, but also tag Creations-By-Chaosfay (even if I'm your partner) and mention this is for Spring Block Swap.
12. I highly recommend making the blocks all in one go, or over the course of a week. This will make it easier to get them finished and shipped off.

Finally posted another video! There are a few things about this one that I’m not quite happy with, but it does feel good to get some content out there again!
Don't mind these nicely framed and pressed pieces that I put together for my siblings for the holidays
(image descriptions:
a black 5 by 7 inch frame with 3 tiny cross stitch pieces mounted on a blue and white plaid background. The pieces are centered horizontally and arranged vertically. From top to bottom, there's a multicolored flower field, a spider on a green background with back stitched webbing, and some goldenrod growing from the ground with fluffy flower texturing from french knots. The frame is resting on a light grain wood table.
a narrow black 8 by 8 frame matted down to 5 by 5 inch with a light blue 4.5 inch needle tatted doilie centered on a dark grey backing. It has 4 rows of tatting, starting with 10 joined rings and chains with 3 picots; then second a row of chains joining to every center picot; third a row of rings and chains that form high arches with the rings centered; ending with a row of chains with 3 picots per half of the previous arch and follows the contour of the previous row. The frame is resting on a light grain wood table.
end description.)
(Image Desc: an 8 in. blue embroidery hoop with a project started. The project has "FIND THE LIGHT" stitched in curly and blocky dark pink-red letters in the top third of the piece. There are loosely stitched vertical lines in blue to count spacing with yellow lines marking the top and bottom of the piece.)
working on this lovely moth pattern from @shitpostsampler
I haven't actually touched this in a week or so because I miscounted somewhere in the bottom of the moth and have to do some more investigative work.
I'm currently adding projects I finished last month and am currently juggling. I bounce between a lot of projects and work on smaller filler projects a lot!
where this is a new blog, I'm putting up a lot of stuff I've finished or started already for my own records.

heyo it's the holiday gift for my sister. gotta love Aunt Lydia's size 10. This is like, 4 maybe 5 inches across?
the real reason I'm afraid of relearning knitting is because I do not trust my left hand to be promoted
