Hand Embroidered Ornaments
Bloom in glorious hues.
'Turquoise Skies' by Moy Macay | Textile Artistry
Award winning artist Moy Mackay was born in Edinburgh in 1966. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1990 and has since lived and worked in the beautiful Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders.
Using merino fleece fibres and stitch in place of brush and paint she creates ‘felted paintings’ of startling vibrancy and depth where she combines aspects of the traditional craft of felt-making with painting in a magical way. It is a fascinating, absorbing process which requires a fine balance between spontaneity and control, an element she particularly enjoys. Moy's passion is for colour and her work asserts this with luminous vitality. By using fibres in such a painterly way she has developed a unique coupling of a traditional craft within a fine art application, creating a very personal and innovative approach to visual expression. She is regarded as the leading authority of this art form and has had three books published to date, selling 40,000 copies worldwide. She regularly travels the world to teach along with offering online courses, workshops and retreats from her studio.

Manish Arora SS '15 Couture - Embroidered, Beaded & Embellished
Manish Arora's Spring Summer 2015 is a storyteller's paradise in its presentation !! .... Iridescent colour and the Hindu symbols of the Bindi (forehead dot), Maang Sindoor (coloured hair parting) and Naath (circular nosepin) has always been his signature elements ..... a homage to his motherland that he consciously uses in almost all his shows .... Perhaps no other Indian designer enjoys a global following on par with Manish .... from Tokyo to Italy to New York .... he has built a formidable cult while staying unapologetically Indian in spirit !!
Embroidered & Embellished Boho Jacket

“Is this just fantasy?” Embroidery by Julie Sarloutte
Great portrait embroidery of Freddie Mercury, singer for Queen
Denim Octopus Jacket by the Fair of Masters
The jacket is made in a single copy according to its sketch, completely hand embroidered and decorated. Long and time-consuming work, each tiny bead is sewn step by step. The eyes of the octopus are decorated with red zircons and the membranes on the tentacles are embroidered with black/graphite zircons and red.

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson
Love this sweet little touch.
Hand embroidered portrait by Alix Souissi, Norway
In our move to Norway, and all that entailed, I started stitching to quiet my mind from all the uncertainty that lay ahead. Now what started as my therapy had turned into my passion! Having spent the last 12 years before that as a geophysicist being all about seismic data and rocks, it was also amazing to rediscover my creative side again 💜 We feel so so lucky to have ended up in this amazing part of the world despite all the craziness getting here.
Embroidered Realism - The Art of Ruth Miller
Shown above is "The Impossible Dream is the Gateway to Self-Love" - hand embroidered wool on fabric.
Mississippi Gulf Coast artist Ruth Miller creates large narrative portraits & domestic scenes in vibrant hues. Looking from a distance, the finely detailed work is stunning in its vitality, resembling a painted portrait. Yet every tendril, each atom of brushstroke-like detail, was hand-stitched—sewn using Paternayan wool yarn against a steady backing fabric to complete the grand embroidered tapestry
