“Okay,” your bestie said as she looked at you through the video chat, “I need all of the deets now.”
You grinned cheekily as you washed your dishes. “About what specifically?” You asked.
As if you didn’t know.
“Don’t play with me!” She scolded. “I want to know how date number two went! It was last night, right?”
“It was,” you said, grinning as you didn’t elaborate.
“Y/N I swear to god-”
You laughed. “Fine, fine, I’ll tell you.” You set aside another dish into your dish rack and moved on to rinsing the sink and wiping off the counters. “So, we decided to play some video games together. He showed me around Genshin and I showed him some Lethal Company.”
“That sounds fun!” Your friend commented and you nodded.
“Yeah it was. We were on fairly even playing grounds, too. He got to watch me flounder around in Genshin before showing off his favorite characters and their skins,” you said. “And then I got to giggle and also scream as we played Lethal together and he encountered one of the springy guys.”
“Oh my god,” she laughed. “He turned and ran away didn’t he?”
You laughed, too. “He did! I didn’t even have time to tell him what to do.”
“I wish you could’ve recorded his reaction. I bet it was gold.”
“That would’ve been great,” you agreed. “But, um, our date was actually interrupted.”
Your bestie’s face lit up. “Spill.”
“So it was between rounds of Lethal…”
Chris groaned as the ship pulled away, announcing the death of both “employees” and thenceforth failure of your current run. You giggled.
“How many different enemy types are there?” he whined.
“Like, so many,” you replied, smiling still. “I know most of them, but not perfectly by any means. If we really want to get into the nitty gritty of it, we can start scanning any enemies we find and read their data entries.”
Chris, who’d previously covered his face with his hands in frustration, slowly lowered them to glare at you playfully. “Wouldn’t that mean getting close enough to them to scan them?”
You just beamed and shrugged. “Maybe. But honestly, the worst guys are on the harder planets… or sometimes in the mines or mansion, if we roll those on another planet. I feel like you haven’t even seen some of the worst guys yet.”
Chris narrowed his eyes at you. “... like what?”
“Well, like the worms or the dogs or the tree giants you can find outside of the facilities,” you answered. “I always think I’m safe when I’m out the doors but nooooo.”
He snorts. “Okay, so I’m never safe. Got it.”
“Exactly,” you laughed. “Now you’re getting it. This is why the tools are helpful. Like if someone stays on the ship and we have walkie talkies, I can see enemies on the map and help you navigate around them… kinda.” You lit up as you remembered something else. “Oh! And the teleporter! Great for getting out of tricky situations, or at least retrieving the body.”
Chris laughed at that. “Thank you for thinking about my corpse.”
“It saves us money!” You protested, making him laugh again.
Just then, you saw a sliver of light appear on the wall behind Chris. Chris didn’t notice at first, but he perked up, eyes widening slightly as a new voice came in through the call.
“Hyung, I see you online on Steam,” a familiar, deep voice whined. “Why are you ignoring me-”
Chris glanced at you, but turned to face the visitor as a blonde head popped into frame. Felix hadn’t looked at Chris’s phone yet, where you guys had been video chatting, and instead looked at the computer.
“Wait- your activity wasn’t lying? Why are you playing Lethal? I’ve been trying to get you to play for like a month!” Felix protested. “You can’t even really play this alone. Are you just playing with randos?”
Chris was smirking. “No, I’m not playing with randos.”
“Then who-” Felix started before he finally spotted you. “Oh.”
You pressed your lips together to hold in a laugh and waved at him. “Hello.”
Felix’s eyes widened. He looked between you and Chris as a smile slowly spread across his face.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” he said teasingly, leaning in front of Chris, who was lightly protesting. “I don’t think we’ve met before. My name is Felix.”
“Nice to meet you,” you replied, still beaming. “My name is Y/N.”
Felix shoved his way further in front of the camera, with Chris laughing in the background. “I swore I knew most of hyung’s friends, but I’d remember seeing you if I had. How’d you guys meet?”
“Felix,” Chris protested, trying to shove him out of the way.
“Ah, we met through a friend,” you replied, giggling a bit at their antics. Felix was currently trying to shove Chris away with one hand, while still maintaining eye contact with you.
“Oh, like a friend set you up?” He pried, raising an eyebrow playfully.
You glanced at Chris, unsure how much he wanted to share, but you’d never been the best at bluffing. “Something like that.”
Just then, you saw Chris try to lunge for the phone, but Felix had clearly been anticipating that. He snatched it up and started laughing as the background blurred behind him. You heard Chris shout something in the background, but Felix didn’t pause.
“Did you just kidnap me?” You asked, laughing as Felix looked around, trying to figure out where to go now that he’d stolen Chris’s phone.
Felix glanced down at you for a moment, beaming. “Maybe.” He glanced back up, eyes widening as he yelped and dodged to the side.
“Give me the phone back!” Chris shouted as Felix took off running again.
Suddenly Felix ducked into a room and all but slammed the door shut behind him. You saw him fiddle with something before looking back at you and grinning. “Okay, we have like, five minutes max before he’s back with the spare key.”
Sure enough, you heard someone try the door and a muffled shout from the other side.
Felix flopped down onto Chris’s bed. “Now you can be honest with me without him listening. Who’s your friend? How long have you been talking? Is this a date?”
You laughed. “I feel like I’m being interrogated.”
“Nooo,” Felix whined, “I just know Chan won’t tell me. You seem nice. You’ll tell me, right?”
“I just don’t know how much Chris wants me to share yet,” you admitted softly.
Felix’s eyes softened. “Aw, you call him Chris!”
“I’ll tell you some of it,” You conceded, “because I’m sure he’d tell you guys eventually anyways.”
Felix sat up in bed, face lighting up as he leaned in closer, eagerly.
“He met my friend while he was traveling and she gave him my phone number. We’ve been talking for a couple weeks now,” you told him.
He tilted his head. “Did he know he wasn’t getting her number?”
You laughed. “Oh absolutely. My friend is dating someone already and she thought Chris seemed like my type, so she showed him a picture of me and he apparently said yes.”
“Of course he said yes,” Felix replied. “You’re very pretty.”
You blushed. “Well thank you.”
Felix looked past the phone sheepishly. “I think our time’s up.”
You heard the door open and quickly the phone background shifted. You heard Chris lightly and playfully berating Felix, who just laughed, before Chris finally was back in frame.
“I’m sorry about him,” he said, flushing a bit.
You giggled. “No, no, it’s fine. It shows how good of friends you are, and I think that’s nice.”
“Come on, can’t I play at least? If it’s only you two, you need more people!” Felix whined in the background.
Chris glared at Felix and then glanced back at you. “Don’t feel like you have to say yes to him, I know his pleading eyes are deadly-”
Said pleading eyes popped into the corner of the frame before Chris shoved him back out of view.
“- but you don’t have to give in. I promise he won’t actually be upset.”
“It would be more fun with a third person,” you started, “but we can also just switch games, too, if you want.”
Chris thought for a moment. He huffed softly. “While one of the boys bursting into the background is probably far more normal than me actually finding alone time…” He licked his lips. “I just don’t want you to think that I’m not willing to commit to alone time with you.”
Your whole face softened at that. “That’s very sweet Chris. I appreciate that a lot, but I also know how big of a part of your life the boys are.” You winked at him. “We got to play together alone for a bit, I really don’t mind if Felix joins.”
“Wait, is this a date?” Felix suddenly asked.
“It was before you showed up,” Chris replied, turning to look at the younger boy.
“No, wait, I don’t want to crash your date-”
“Sure you do,” Chris interrupted with a knowing eyebrow raise.
“Okay maybe I do, but you really don’t have to say yes if that’s the case,” he continued, moving so he could look at you through the video call.
“No, it’s all good Felix.” You smiled. “Are you any good at Lethal?”
“Better than Chris I bet!” he replied, beaming.
You laughed. “Then maybe you can help us not die this time.”
“That wasn’t my fault!” Chris whined. “You didn’t tell me about the spring guys!”
Felix grinned and did a fist pump. “Okay, hell yeah. I have to run back to my place and switch games, but it should only take like, 5 minutes max.”
And with that, he sprinted away. Chris looked after him, shaking his head fondly, and then looked back at you.
“If you end up wanting to redo our 2nd date, just say the word,” he told you seriously as he settled back into his computer chair.
You shook your head. “No way, this was still a great date. Is still a great date. Now it’s just shifting into gaming with friends.”

Author's Note: This has been sitting in my drafts for two and a half years. I had planned on adding smut to it, but it's not something I feel comfortable writing. So here it is before I change my mind.
[PART ONE]
Yoongi had a look about him whenever he looked at you, his eyes less small and heavy, a pure lovelike happiness to them. His whole heart showing through his cat-like eyes with a little smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
You pulled at his heart like no other person could. He would never let anyone else come close. He had his number one girl. No one else would ever come close to what you meant to him.
But you weren't his.
He had wanted to tell you a thousand times about how he felt, how he truly felt about you, but his worries and anxieties told him not to. He could lose you altogether. That would be worse than never admitting that he was hopelessly, undeniably, wholeheartedly in love with you.
He sat on your sofa, Milo, your ragdoll kitten, sleeping soundly on his shoulder. Yoongi had surprised you with him a few weeks after the night of your breakdown. You had found a lovely therapist who was really helping and had suggested an emotional support animal. Yoongi, being the walking filofax of everything you'd ever mentioned interested in, knew you wanted a ragdoll since you were little and thus, Yoongi's twin joined your little duo.
Milo loved you but whenever Yoongi walked in the door, you might as well be invisible to him.
You'd tease Yoongi often that it was because he preferred the connection to his own species.
Tonight, however, Yoongi needed him to be his emotional support as you left the room in yet another jaw-dropping dress you didn't like for a work dinner you'd be attending. With Jisung, a very handsome, smart guy with a very 'well to do' family.
As you can imagine, Yoongi hated him. He hated that he was everything he wanted for you. He wasn't a bad guy, under different circumstances, Yoongi might actually like him.
"I promise this is the last one" you shouted from your bedroom.
"You said that about the last 6." He rolled his eyes, taking a sip of his whiskey while he absentmindedly petted Milo.
"Don't roll your eyes at me, Min Yoongi."
"You can't even see me!" Yoongi protested.
"I know you!"
"Yeah, yeah." He mused, nuzzling his face into Milo as the kitten pawed at his face for attention now that he was awake.
The echo of your heels clicking along the hardwood floors drew his attention back to you and the sight that caught his eye, had he been standing, would've knocked him off his feet.
You looked a out of this world as you walked into the living room in a stunning black figure hugging dress with a intricate lace bodice, finished with a red clutch and a pair of black LV heels.
If he wasn't jealous before, he sure as hell was now.
"So?" You smile, lip pulled between your teeth as you finished your little twirl.
"Y-wow... you look beautiful, that's the dress. You'll knock them all out" His eyes drinking you in like a tall glass of wine.
A soft blush rose to your cheeks, covering your face with your clutch.
Sitting Milo down, he stood and made his way over to you, lowering your clutch. He smiled softly as his eyes met yours. "You can't wear a dress like this and be shy, y/n."
"I can when you look at me like that." Biting your lip softly as you look up at him.
"Do you have to go out with him?" The words are out of his mouth before he can stop them but he doesn't entirely regret it. Which shocks even him. He has never put his feelings before your friendship, ever. Even when it's almost killed him not too.
"Is that jealousy, Yoon?" Surely not. Of course not. What a silly question.
Until it wasn't.
"Yeah. Yeah. i think. it is." Sadness washed over every feature like a wave crashing to the shore but the look on your face made him shake himself out of it. "I mean, No. No, I.."
"You are?" You blinked up at him in shock, your heart pounding like a bass drum.
"You deserve a good night, Y/n. I'm sorry."
"Be honest with me. Come on, it's me." You try reassuring him.
"I'm afraid." He admits.
"Please"
He sighs, almost like a breath of relief that he finally has the guts to say something.
"I love you, I have done for a really long time. I wanted to prove everyone wrong, that a man and a woman can be friends and not hook up it fall in love and maybe that friendship does exist but not with us." The flood gates where open now. "I'm jealous that he is going to get to spend the night was you, looking so unbelievably prefect in every possible way, not the dress but the confidence and the glow. I'm jealous that he gets to see you every day, that he has your attention. I shouldn't be jealous because you're not mine, I'm just the idiot best friend that fell in love with you."
"Why didn't you say anything before now?"
"I wrote you a song!" Yoongi laughs at himself. "I thought you'd instantly know that it was about you, about us, but you didn't. I took it as a sign that my feelings were one-sided."
"You wrote me a song?"
"Even ARMY guessed the song was about you. Everyone, except you, knows it's about you."
"SDL?"
"No, Haegeum." He teased, in aid to kill the sting in his hurt that you even had to confirm which one it was.
"Yoongi!"
"Just tell me you don't feel the same, because this hurts and I want to leave before I ruin your night even more."
"You know, you're adorable when your jealous." You took a step forward, pulling him closer by his shirt before your hands ran over his little tummy then around his waist as you cuddled up to him.
Muscle memory has him instantly wrapping his arms around you, his lips pressing to the top of your head before he rested his head on yours. "I don't like sharing you."
"I know" You speak softly, head currently nuzzled into his neck. "I don't like sharing you either and I have to do it with millions not just the gay work friend."
"Gay?" Yoongi moved to cup your cheeks, squishing them a little as he made you look at him. "You knew this whole time and didn't think to tell me once?!" He pouted, whining dramatically.
"That was the plan, Genius." You smile innocently, batting your eyelashes at him.
"Plan?" He furrowed his brows.
"I knew SDL was about me from the moment you first played it, I know you better than anymore. I wanted you to say the words to me, I wanted to hear you say you loved me."
"You have no idea how much I love you. How much I have loved you, every part of you. That night I found you, I thought about life without you and the guilt I felt for not realising how bad it was for you sooner. I could have lost you, and it terrified me. But I know you and I couldn't let your recovery be based on my love for you. I didn't want you to get better for me, I wanted you to get better for yourself. That is why I never said anything before."
"I worked so hard to get better." You admit with tears in your eyes.
"I know you did and I'm so fucking proud of you." Yoongi told you, wiping any tears that slipped down your cheeks away.
"Kiss me" You tell him, "please."
Yoongi leans in with no second thought, heart running at a thousand miles an hour. The first press of his lips to yours is soft, careful, chaste. Melting into each other's form. It's instinctive how his lips move with yours, deepening the kiss, with so much longing and neediness from years of praying for a moment when your friendship becomes something so much more.
