Internet famous pet fox Juniper has a dog best friend, named Moose. An Australian Shephard mix, both Juniper and Moose eat and sleep together. Juniper’s Instagram account documents his daily journals, shenanigans and bond between his teddy bear AKA Moose.

European Netflix Review: Kill Your Darlings

This biopic tells the stories of beat poets Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac, and their involvement with Lucien Carr. This film is embossed by the ideals of the beat poets it portrays. From their use of drugs to alternative sexual practices, this film draws no blinds over the lives of these soon to be famous authors. Nor does it loudly explain everything about them to us. Ginsberg’s homosexuality is not loudly declared, nor is it ever declared. The film has us discover that for ourselves (but if you’ve ever heard of Howl then it was no surprise). The characterization of Lu is similarly portrayed, his self hatred and doubt buried until the very end, when everything comes out.

This story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. As a writer myself, I love seeing the stories of writers come to life on the screen. I’ve read some of Kerouac’s stories, but now I want to read more of the beat generation’s works. Hearing them read aloud and watching them speak the fantastic lines they wrote in a drug educed haze makes me wonder if true creativity can only be tapped through absolute depravity. 

Of course, none of these characters should be called heroes. The film is rampant with drug paraphernalia, the future poets dosing themselves with everything from smelling salts to a probably fictional german drug which causes the user to twitch and masturbate themselves into submission, typing away on a computer during moments of calm.

Clearly from the last sentence, this film is nsfw. Including but not limited to a gay sex scene with Daniel Radcliffe getting pounded by an attractive blond man in a hotel room. Two words: happy trail.

All in all a fantastic film. Don’t watch it with your parents, but settle in with your lover or friend over a bottle of scotch and a joint and enjoy the experience.
