jcs came around to my city again so of course i went, again, and im pleased to say i enjoyed it even more than the first time.

we got the understudy pilate this time and while he wasnt as funny as the main his voice was a lot better....reminded me a bit of the pilate in the drew sarich, but judas, version of jcs thats around so it was p cool.

Okay so it’s musical Sunday yall! All my favorite parts in musicals. Carl Anderson is and will always be the best thing about this.

went to see jcs live n i just want to say mexico is on the winning team w austria because they kept the jesus is cool line

AN INCREDIBLE CAIAPHAS  

the mic broke during damned for all time, one of my fave songs, lmao

a gethsemane that was like 7/10 not bad

incredible show tbh and very good acting

pilate was not a v strong voice but he was such a charismatic actor that it rly made up for it 

i wasnt expecting much bcus it was a celebrity casting but it turned out to be quite a good show! i really enjoyed it

herod was hilarious which, unexpected, bcus i consider the dude who played him kind of unlikeable 

amazing visuals tbh

jesus is cool rating: 10/10 they kept the line lmao

judas superstar outfit fabulous rating: 5/10 lacked in glitter but it WAS all red leather

overall id say a 9, 9.5 i loved it!

some things i didnt like so much tho

i dont prefer the style of jcs where like. judas fucks off for most of the 1st act you know?? while it doesnt take away fom the quality of the show i prefer when judas, jesus n mary interact a bit more, because imo it makes for a more cohesive and emotionally charged story. the mexico tour went for the judas fucks off style, sadly.

changed a few lines to make it a bit more. idk. palatable? to religion. like more jesus as god for certain instead of the jesus as a an inlfuencer lmao of the original. nothing that altered the show significantly but still.

another seale advantage is that hes short n somehow the role of jesus is funnier if  a shorter dude plays it like tis v satisfying to see a small jesus wreak havoc during the temple scene

despite its flaws, nbcs jcs absolutely outclasses like half the versions of jcs out there simply by having norm lewis as caiaphas n u nerds r just going to have to live with that

I know this is a kind of unpopular opinion among musical fans in general but I really really love Steven Seale?!?!? I know his voice is softer and not very powerful but I kinda dig that... Plus I see him as a fairly good actor too, and I think he is very passionate about his roles. Idk I just love Steven Seale and his takes on both Jesus and Der Tod (Elisabeth).

i havent seen him as death but as jesus i find him entertaining tbh. while i dont love his gethsemane its like. ok. to listen to? also he drop kicks judas n thats absolutely hilarious
