Matthew showed a deep care for others even as a young child. Whereas most children refused to share when they didn't have to, he was very generous and gave things selflessly whenever he could.

Practically all music in his culture was improvised, which is why he adapts so well to modern Jazz music.

Bets and gambling were also a thing Matthew was often exposed to. However, it has changed since Matthew saw it and so he finds himself with a minor gambling addiction anyway, even though he saw it ruin people's lives.

Matthew's community was under a form of Tribal government in his childhood. This is why he resents modern forms of government and wishes Humans didn't need so much order.
