RAW EMOTION was swirling in the god’s eyes as he watched in apparent despair the figure of Loki, standing there alive and breathing before him. Real. There was no hiding the velocity of his heart inside his ribcage, hammering at his bones and threatening to jump out for even the immortal could tremble as a human child when it came to his brother. And specially when he had feared him dead and gone forever alongside everyone else. “You’re alive.” he finally managed to mutter, deep voice husky from his clogged throat, there was so much Thor wanted to say and yet he felt like to coherent speech would manage to come out. Instead he used the only language he knew how to use better than words. His body.

He launched at his brother and hugged him aggressively, hot-blooded. He grasped at his shoulders, a deep furrow to his eyebrows. He felt the urge to shake him from irritation but managed to contain himself, tears burning at his eyes openly. “Is this a joke to you?!”

“I’m not attempting to fool anybody.  I simply don’t see why it matters.  I’ve evaded death more times than I can remember and Midgardians are fragile at best, if I were to begin a relationship with anyone on this planet it would feel like mere moments.  What good can come of that?”

“Perhaps mere moment were worthier than lifetimes. Depending on the moment.” the god spoke gently, a bit distractedly even before smiling at his brother. “You will only understand if you ever attempt to open your heart, Loki.”

               Had the Asgardian asked her for assistance a few thousand years ago, Ishtar would have agreed without hesitation, but now the goddess would need some convincing. She was tired and had her heart broken far too many times by the realm she ruled to be too invested in its future. “I no longer hold the love I once did for this place, Thor Odinson, if it were to cease to exist, I’ll simply create a new home for myself.”

          “A home alone?” the god’s accent was thicker with emotion as he shifted his weight from one foot to another, a heavy press to his eyebrows. There was no disappointment, only the urge to call the goddess to reason. These were not toys to be thrown away, and yet he did not expect a different reaction. “Do you believe ignoring an entire race and planet will cease any disappointment? Will loneliness cure your wounds, daughter of Sin?” he demanded, his gaze locked on hers firmly yet it grew gentle. “These people need you. Save them and they will worship you in greater measures than ever before.”

        “right.” she has to break eye contact momentarily, the intensity of his words making her very own heart skip a beat. eventually, she brings her gaze back to his ocean blue hues, getting lost in their depths. “astrophysicist.” she corrects him playfully, knowing the god was still adjusting to the vehicular on earth… or midgard as he’d called it. she leans into his touch, watching him glance over her efforts. “are you going to tell me what happened?” she smiles halfheartedly, both wanting him safe with her but also wanting to know the threat has been dealt with so that he does not have to leave her again. slightly angling her head into his hand, she places a soft kiss on the calloused skin of his palm. 

His blues never leave her face as she looks away bashfully. The innocence that emanates from her in little moments such as these warm the God’s heart, allowing him to feel almost human. He grins, his gaze only growing more attentive, switching between her eyes and her smile as she corrects him. He wouldn’t expect anything else. “Of course, astrophysicist. I was aware of that.” he attempted to maintain his pride in a playful manner, and he cups her face gently, thumb gracing her cheek, the urge to just kiss her tugging at him. Instead he controlled the urge, deciding to answer her question. “He was big. Definitely big and dangerous. But this is all the blood he stole from me. A threat in one of the realms closest to Asgard. It is dealt with and that is what matters. Peace is established for now.”

         his chuckle is immediately infectious, a grin appearing on a once serious face. “do you wish to question mine?” she teases back, securing the bandage with a small clasp. fresh blood begins to show up outside the bandage, further solidifying her decision to attend to his wound. “answer very carefully.” she raises a challenging eyebrow, gently nodding so that he knows she had finished with her first aid. “I might go as far to say that i have far more resistance than the average asgardian god.” 

“I would be mad to do so. Your resistance holds no comparison to no Asgardian. Very few would attempt to protect a God at all times with only their mortal body.” he reasons teasingly. “But your resistance is still mortal and human, please allow me to worry over you further than you do over me. As long as I exist no harm such as this will land upon you. Besides, we cannot lose Earth’s most brilliant physicist.” he smiled at her, running his fingers gently through her long soft locks and paused for a moment, simply watching her before gracing his gaze over the patched wound. “Thank you.”
