I'm currently trying to start a fic for a ship that started out as 'haha wouldn't they be a cute couple' and quickly became 'holy shit they would actually be incredibly cute and work so well together'

You know who I haven't thought about in a while?

I've been sitting on this for over a year because I have been hoping they wouldn't, but screw it

I'm think Jack's valentine card was from Brezziana and they're going to try and push them together as a couple maybe

While I know that incestuous ships are an annoyingly commonplace happenstance in any fandom, I am not personally an incest shipper and if this is true, I will likely be burying Jacklust/Wanderrose and leaving it alone for the rest of my life.

I'm heartbroken as I will likely have to abandon the ideas/plots/stories I have been working on the past 18 months and at this point I don't know if I even want to write for this fandom again.

The only reason I'm not outright abandoning the fandom is the friends/fans/fellow writers I found on here are infinitely more inspiring than the shitstorm around the canon and I'm not sure I'm ready to give them up.

I've watched that new dance with Leda, Jack and the Traveler and I am very heartbroken

If Jack and Wanderlust are brothers and Ubisoft's attitude the last 2 freaking years has not been to discourage shipping explaining that it's inappropriate and instead ridiculing people without explaining why they're in the wrong, I don't know I've just lost a lot of respect for Just Dance as a whole

i am actually genuinely worried for the release of the new game because of the heavy hinting of the reveal of jack and wanderlust as half brothers. Pair it with the repeated barely-drip feeding of lore, general lofty attitude of the game makers when it comes to revealing canon, and the disgusting attitude towards the fans theyve purposefully kept in the dark over a possibly incestuous ship over the last two years while laughing at and making fun of them - i dont know how i will handle that

So I may have managed to do a 2 part very mini fic thing for the Night Children AU

It's very basic but it definitely bridges the gap to the next major part of the story

So I have been spending the last two months prepping for and then starting to move

Got a little while to go before it's over but I've not forgotten this blog or my Night Children AU so this is a bit of a check in to say hi

I've now seen Darkest Hour and I have my thoughts under this read more for anyone interested

While I can appreciate the amount of effort that went into writing and recording new song from scratch to sync up with an already completed map that got leaked months ago, and I can certainly acknowledge the clarity it offers on Night Swan/Leda Nox's origin, I still prefer the original.

Again I can admire the amount of effort that went in to this but I can't ignore the fingerprints of Sweet Dreams (are made of this) by the Eurythmics that are all over the map. They went to great lengths to recreate various parts of the original music video including the singer appearing in the background for the vocalisations, and even the final reveal is how the original music video ends. And while Leda's outfit does have some stark difference from Annie Lennox's iconic suit and orange hair, the style does align in a way that I've never thought to be merely coincidental

Annie Lennox's hair is short, it looks freshly shorn and is a vibrant orange that is a stark contrast to the black and white of her suit, as well as the clothes and muted tones of the rest of the music video. Similarly she wears a very formal suit, which Lennox said was on purpose to show she was 'as strong as any man' -> a sentiment I can definitely see Leda sharing during her descent. Leda's hair while not shorn is a stark contrast to what we see in Murder on the Dancefloor, and a vibrant all over pink that is hard to ignore where before it was merely a streak.

Then there's the song itself, written after a fight with her husband, Lennox has spoken out about how when she wrote the song she was feeling listless, and depressed as though she'd never achieve her dreams, even crediting the lyrics as referring to struggling to achieve your goals as everyone around you is caught up in their own 'sweet dreams' and will do what it takes to achieve them, even if it's at the cost of other's sake, or allowing yourself to be taken advantage of - which i honestly think may have been JD's original intent with the song but it was a bit too subtle so they wrote a new song to make it a little more noticeable.

Again I like the clarity and less interpretive nature of Darkest Hour but honestly I think the map, which again is heavily influenced by Sweet Dreams (are made of this), suffers for it.

I remember being in the merlin (bbc) fandom during the last series and the large number of people who wrote fics having full blown conversations with their charactera

I have seen 1 of the 2 dances for night swan prequel

Working on my novel and had an angsty AU idea

Jack is actually a victim of night swan's who had his entire identity completely rewritten into Jack Rose and 1 (or more) of the just dancers knew him before and have to come to terms with the fact that he is Jack now and who he was is never coming back and Jack has to learn the truth of all that his "mother" is and all she took from him

Anyone who wants to give this a crack, you have my blessing

Bonus points for Jack having been dating any of the just dancers in his old life (1 or more)

Bonus bonus points if theres this angsty argument where Jack fights to be accepted as who he is now no matter how much anyone (including him) wants him to be who he was

If you haven’t read it already or caught up on it, I highly recommend LibraLelia’s series The Tainted City and Mirrored Walls, a wip sequel! Really well written, with a focus on Jack as a rebellion leader, and really great pacing and characters and a budding Wanderrose. Halfratsalready has a series called Lose Yourself, and Surreal1sm’s Maybe Loving You Is Dangerous is such a unique take on an AU. Both focus a lot of Wanderrose and write it really well!
