I know it's an unpopular opinion in my generation but I hate when shows portray rich kids as bad people for being out of touch. I see virtually no difference between blaming a rich kid for not understanding the socio-economic differences between their childhood and someone less fortunate, than blaming a poor kid for being less educated or less well-spoken than the rich kid.

It's all very "Sins of the Father"-y which is bullshit no matter how you spell it. It's one thing to call out an adult billionaire out of touch, but it's another to call out a child—one who isn't even technically wealthy, but just lives a privileged life.

And that's not to say you can't point out that privilege, certainly, but there's no need to make them out to be a bad person or belittle their woes in life. I think the most common trope is the "kid who grew up rich, but mommy/daddy was never around" and they're always being compared to the "poor kid who sometimes went to bed hungry but has a strong bond with their parent/s" and I think it's dumb that we pit them against each other.

Yes, almost starving to death is worse than mommy or daddy not hugging you, but call me crazy for thinking a problem is still a problem.

This is a wonderful point. The venom against kids in this situation only leads to pushing away people who would be much more likely to listen and learn if treated with understanding
