A skydiving instructor in Texas, David Hartsock, was making his last jump for the day. His student was Shirley Dygert, a 54-year-old wife and grandmother who was jumping for the first time. When everything went wrong, Hartsock determined that there was no way they could both survive the fall, and there was only one way for either of them to survive.

We love this video's manipulation of size and usage of dramatization. We also like how this video's soundtrack keeps pace with the character's actions.

We like Alt-J's "Breezeblocks" because of its usage of slow motion and reverse-time effects that tell a more compelling story than a classically structured narrative could.

We like RedBull's usage of go-pro footage.

dead hearts: The Wedding of Victoria and Jason Evigan
We like this video because it uses experimental montages and uncomfortable scene splicing to covey a unique message in addition to the fact that it explores the stories of these two individuals, which is what we aim to do in our film.

Free Aloha
We chose this short movie because of it's experimental use of color.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. -Friedrich Nietzsche

We love how this video was done in the sense that it stresses the importance of music choice and the usage of multiple split screens makes for an interesting message that could not have been made possible with a singular shot.
We admire Riding Giants for its usage of archival footage and structuralist theory implementation. It also approaches the matter of extreme sports in a very entertaining and thoughtful way. #inspiration
Beware of Mr. Baker demonstrates the types of cohesive animation that we aim to use in our experimental documentary. He also uses a unique style of scene splicing, using multiple cameras that we would also like to use in order to emphasize the point of our scene. #inspiration
Holy Cow Lisa
We loved this! (Thanks Lily!)
Things we'd like to draw from:
-interview style
-animations
-use of new media (ie. cell phone texts)
-candid nature of the short film
