Vaati, unimpressed, shot an equally-nasty glare at Tidus. "I'm not doing this to be a hero. I don't believe in that whole altruistic, good-for-the-sake-of-good nonsense Harry Potter preaches about in his books and interviews. I'm doing this because that book is a threat to this school, and therefore by extension is a threat to me. This is me saving my own ass, not being a hero. Besides, one day I'll be greater than you, and that long-dead Dark Wizard's words will be useless to you then."
"Yeah yeah...I've heard it all before...oh wait, no I haven't. The thing is, I just don't care. You're not saving yourself, or the school, because there is nothing to save! I'm not planning on attacking the school or it's students, I'm reading a book. It's like you have some problem with that or something, maybe it's jealousy that you're in such a lower house?"
Tidus continued to look down at him, tapping his foot, waiting for the little boy to respond with some witty comeback that doesn't make a difference, other that to just boast the ego too big for the pale boy's body.
Vaati had spent over a week and a half searching for any information he could find regarding “Walpurgis”, and at first...

Vaati clicked his tongue. "There really is no other reason you would read such a thing. Having that book goes beyond simple curiosity. Lord Stupid-Name had a way with words that brought a lot of people over to his side when he was alive. And almost ALL of them were Slytherins. You may not think so now, but that book WILL work its magic on you over time. Get rid of it, or I'll find someone to MAKE you get rid of it."
Tidus slammed his hands on the table, almost breaking it. He pushed his chair back against the desk and let out a sigh. He grabbed his book and began to walk past Vaati, muttering before he spoke up.
"Stop trying to be a hero. There will be no one to save you if you encounter a villain. You'll just get yourself hurt, or killed. You'll have no proof anyway, so go ahead and tell. You'll just waste both of our time."
Tidus gave Vaati a glare that could crack a mirror. Tidus made it apparent that Vaati has gone too far. The question was, how deep has Vaati gone? What kind of trouble did he get himself into in trying to find out Tidus?...
Vaati had spent over a week and a half searching for any information he could find regarding “Walpurgis”, and at first his searches proved futile. The teachers responded with shock that he had known the...

Vaati's eyes narrowed. "I think you know exactly what I'm talking about. That book you're carrying... I think I can guess its title. Secrets of the Knights of Walpurgis. Am I correct?"
Vaati smirked triumphantly. "As I recall, that book is illegal to own, and its very existence is outlawed. Why, then, do you have it? Unless you're thinking of continuing that simpleton of a Dark Lord's petty scheme... And the way you defended his rather retarded name, whatever the hell it is... Do you fancy yourself his disciple or some nonsense like that? Lord Baldilocks is dead, Tidus, and history made it clear his actions and motivations were in the wrong. Do yourself a favor and put that book where it belongs: at the bottom of a Muggle landfill."
Tidus rolled his eyes and stood up. He messed with his clock a bit before cracking a smile at Vaati, a rather unsettling smile. He rubbing the back of his head and laughed a bit, maybe Vaati was wrong? Maybe this is how Tidus dealt with his problems? Maybe he was just crazy! Tidus locked eyes with Vaati.
"Okay, so you know the name of my book...but that doesn't mean anything. You don't know why or how I got this book, and you don't know what I'm doing with it. Just because I'm reading a book on the starting of...him...doesn't mean I want to be the next dark lord, or anything!"
Vaati had spent over a week and a half searching for any information he could find regarding “Walpurgis”, and at first his searches proved futile. The teachers responded with shock that he had known the name and would not explain anything. However, after searching...

Vaati's icy glare could have frozen Death Mountain. "I know what that book is about, Tidus."
Vaati smirked at Tidus's shocked reaction. "So, I was half-right about that being Lord Moldytit's diary. It's actually a record of his time before forming the Death Eaters. The Knights of Walpurgis. So, planning to follow in Voldymold's footsteps, are you?"
"If you're going to say his name, SAY IT RIGHT! JEEZ!!"
Tidus took a few deep breaths to compose himself, rubbing his head to act like he's confused on the subject. He wasn't sure if Vaati really knew about the book, maybe he's just taking a shot in the dark to see if it's true? It didn't matter because the shot didn't miss, and now Tidus was stuck in another situation.
"Now...I have no idea what you're on about and I'd like it if you'd spend your time for yourself, or honestly, on someone else other than me. I'm busy. I don't have time to play the guessing game with you."

Vaati had spent over a week and a half searching for any information he could find regarding “Walpurgis”, and at first his searches proved futile. The teachers responded with shock that he had known the name and would not explain anything. However, after searching through the Restricted section of the library after nightfall, Vaati found what he was looking for; a book about infamous dark wizards, including Voldemort.
It was then that Vaati’s suspicions were confirmed: Walpurgis was a knightly order organized by Voldemort before he became well-known: basically the precursors to the Death Eaters. Tidus was indeed following in the footsteps of the late Dark Wizard, and he was doing it right inside Hogwarts!
There was no way he could let this go. He couldn’t go to a teacher yet; not without proof of Tidus’s wrongdoings. But he was going to get his proof today. Vaati eventually found Tidus deep within the Restricted section of the library, this time in a different spot. As if that would have thrown off Vaati.
Vaati folded his arms and stared at the Slytherin. “Tidus, we need to talk.”
Tidus quickly closed his book and looked at Vaati. Once again, he had found him, but this time in the restricted section of the library. Tidus smiled at him, nodding to Vaati. He had; if you could call it friendly; friendly feelings toward Vaati, so he wasn't as hostile as before. Though, it didn't make the fact that he was once again interrupted less annoying. He stayed seated, one of his hands resting on the cover of his book. Even though he had encountered Vaati before in the same situation, it still made Tidus nervous.
"Vaati...what are you doing here!? This is the restricted section...you know that, right? What could you possibly need this time to make you stalk me all the way to the restricted section?"

Vaati smirked. "Very well. As you wish. I have other things to do anyway, so I'll be off."
The Hufflepuff first-year began to walk away, but stopped for a moment and glanced back towards Tidus. "I look forward to our next... meeting."
With that, the Hufflepuff left. Though he had left Tidus calmly and smoothly, his mind raced at what had transpired. He had seen the letters on the book's cover change, but not before he had already caught a glimpse of it, catching the words "Secrets" and "Walpurgis".
Tidus had been acting very suspicious about that book, almost as if it was dangerous, beyond being merely a tome of forbidden knowledge. Whoever, or whatever, Walpurgis was, Vaati wanted to find out.
A thought ran through his mind as he left the library. Could this Tidus person be thinking of following in that Dark Lord What's-His-Name's footsteps?
The thought was troubling, to say the least. Though Voldemort paled in comparison to some of the evil wizards and demon kings native to Vaati's world, a Dark Wizard was something far beyond the caliber of a first-year magic student.
And now that he had drawn Tidus's attention, a part of Vaati began to fear that he may have inadvertently gotten himself caught up in something big. Something dangerous. Something possibly even deadly.
Tidus watched him walk away. Thinking about Vaati and what he knew. He had a feeling that he saw the book, which wasn't good. It wouldn't be hard to find out what the book was associated with.
He thought that it was enough reading for now, taking the book and leaving the library, heading back to his dorm room to rest and think on what he should do next. When he got to his room, his mind quickly wandered off of the subject of the book and onto when there will be an official game of Quidditch. He had been training hard since the start of the year and was eager to get out there and play for his house.
He put the book away in his bag, but soon took it out. He didn't think it was safe to keep it around so he silently spoke to the book and set it on the ground. The book turned into a bunch of small snakes, the snakes dispersing into random directions around the dorm, and castle. When he needed the book again, he would call the snakes back to him to reform, but for now, this was the safest way, since that sneaky Hufflepuff, Vaati was on the prowl.

Vaati shrugged. "I was bored. I wander when I'm bored. I just happened to encounter you while perusing the library. I'm no stalker, I assure you."
Vaati supposed he should be flattered that this older Slytherin had taken a liking to him. He had been half-expecting Tidus to punch his lights out anyway. "I am curious, though," Vaati continued, leaning nonchalantly against one of the heavy bookshelves. "Why are you being so secretive about that book? Is it that Lord Moldywart character's diary or something?"
Tidus kept smiling, his eye twitching from what Vaati had said. His smile quickly turned into a frown and then a glare, Tidus clutching the book even harder than before.
"You're not allowed to talk about that sort of stuff in the school, so don't. You don't know what kind of trouble you'll get yourself into."
The text on the cover of the book turned into some sort of serpent writing, to stop Vaati from reading it any further.
"And stop trying to snoop into my personal business. You'll just end up regretting it in the end. You're not even in the same house as me, so watch your step. I would hate for things to become sour between us."

Vaati unfolded his arms and held out his hand. "My name's Vaati. What's yours?"
Tidus shook his hand, smiling down at him.Vaati had a fairly firm grip for someone his size. He let go of his hand, not really saying much to Vaati, he looked around a bit, still holding his secret book in his other hand as he looked back at Vaati.
"My name is Tidus. I'm a 7th year Slytherin, it's nice to actually meet a first year that interests me...especially from a lower house. So, tell me. Why did you decide to follow me and watch me? Is there something you wanted from me, or are you just a natural stalker?"

Vaati's eye twitched. So this guy was a bully. Yep, stereotypical Slytherin. No matter; Vaati had dealt with enough bullies to know exactly what set them off. Besides, he was in a place where the staff was actually competent. If he was beaten senseless, he would just take it to the teachers. Vaati didn't care in the slightest about the stigma surrounding the concept of "snitches". It was nothing more than attempting to shame someone for doing the right thing.
"Well, that's wonderful to hear," Vaati remarked. "But here's the thing. Unlike the bludgers, I'm smarter than you. I am also fairly certain you're bluffing. If you lay a hand on me, I'll make sure everyone in the castle hears about it. You'll only be digging yourself and your house deeper into your graves. I'd rather not do that, as I am becoming friends with a member of your house, but I will not hesitate if you push me."
Tidus snickered, and then burst out laughing. He wiped the tears from his eyes from laughing so hard. Was he laughing to mock Vaati? Or was it because he said something funny? Regardless, he was still laughing, he stopped himself and looked around, nobody had noticed so he smiled at Vaati.
"I like that! You sure have the attitude and wits of a Slytherin...why were you put into Hufflepuff? Seems like wasted talent to me, let's hope the 'Hufflepuff way' doesn't ruin you."
He smiled at him, not really upset anymore since he got a good laugh, impressed that this first year could handle himself, even if it was a threat to call the teachers over, it will still better than nothing, or getting your butt kicked.
Tidus quickly left his room, grasping a book in his arms. He was in a hurry, and seemed nervous. In fact, every time somebody looked, or even glanced at him, he would speed up to get out of their line of sight.

Vaati raised an unimpressed eyebrow. Here was one of the more typical members of the Slytherin house. This guy wasn't nearly as friendly as Cirno. "Someone's feeling confrontational," Vaati observed. "If you don't want me to go running off to tell anyone about your activities, I suggest you adopt a more civil tone with me, Slytherin."
A part of Vaati feared he would regret those words, but he was not about to show it. The Hufflepuff first-year crossed his arms and awaited the Slytherin's response.
He stood up, glaring down at the small boy. He didn't actually think Vaati would talk back, but that just set Tidus off. He hated it when other students talked back to him, especially other students from lower houses. He leaned on the table out of annoyance, closing his eyes for a few seconds and sighing, looking back at Vaati with a overconfident smirk.
"I knock bludgers around that are heavier than you. I won't think twice about getting a bit of practice on you."
Since Tidus was a beater for Quidditch, his physical strength was apparent. He continued to glare down at the boy, waiting for him to say something else, hoping he would just back off so he could get back to the book.
Tidus quickly left his room, grasping a book in his arms. He was in a hurry, and seemed nervous. In fact, every time somebody looked, or even glanced at him, he would speed up to get out of their line of sight.

Vaati had always prided himself with being silent and stealthy, a useful asset in avoiding bullies. So it was that Vaati was able to sneak up on the sandy-haired Slytherin reading a book in a secluded area of the castle library. Looking over the boy's shoulder, Vaati stole a glance at what he was reading: some bullshit about Slytherins and their influence.
"Interesting choice of reading you have there," Vaati spoke, startling the boy. "And from the way you were trying to make yourself look as inconspicuous as possible, one you should not have access to, am I not correct?"
Tidus jumped, quickly closing the book. He turned to the small, pale boy and grabbed the book, holding it close, still staying in his seat as he noticed the boy wasn't a Slytherin. Even though it was wrong to think that a Hufflepuff wouldn't, or couldn't know much about Slytherin and it's roots, it still reassured Tidus. He frowned at Vaati, his nose twitching, annoyed that this first year has caught him and was watching.
"What the hell do you want? I don't have any business with a stubby Hufflepuff like yourself, do I? Get out of here, you should know better than to sneak around and dabble in the business of a Slytherin like myself."
He looked at Vaati, observing the rather girly looking student; though Tidus wasn't low enough to insult somebody on their looks, he really had no need to.

Tidus quickly left his room, grasping a book in his arms. He was in a hurry, and seemed nervous. In fact, every time somebody looked, or even glanced at him, he would speed up to get out of their line of sight.
He would slow down and try to keep calm whenever he passed by a professor, not wanting to raise suspicion. He headed for the library, it seemed like a normal place to read a book, so why would anyone think twice about asking him what he was doing there? He entered the library, heading toward the back, trying to find a secluded area that had the fewest amount of students lurking around. He decided to sit in the history of games section, the chess section to be exact, since very few people come to look up the history of wizards chess.
He set the book he was grasping and hiding from the whole walk down here, on the table, looking around for a few moments to make sure nobody had noticed him. The tittle of the book read, ‘Secrets of The Knights of Walpurgis’.
He opened the book and began to read through it, trying to read as much as he could in the shortest amount of time, but also trying to take in the information given to him from the book, forcing him to stop and analyze the words.
“Interesting…the influence Slytherin had on the world of wizards is amazing..So much forbidden knowledge lies in this book…but it’s not forbidden if I’m not caught…so no harm done…”
He reassured himself, nodding to himself and going deeper into the book. The suspense of somebody showing up at any moment, and the interest he had in the book, took his attention away from everything else for a moment, long enough for someone to find him and confront him…
Cirno stood on her tip-toes, looking over the unaware Tidus’ shoulder. Her eyes skimmed the page, wondering why the older boy was so interested in that book. The book had way too many words for Cirno to read, and nothing seemed remotely interesting or worth the young girl’s attention. That book was obviously for idiots.
Tired of waiting, Cirno got off her tip-toes and walked next to Tidus, and began pushing him, trying to get his attention. “Hey! Idiot! I need you to reach a book for me!”
“Plus I’m wearing my green bow today, so I want to beat you up without you playing dirty!” Heads were starting to turn as people began to stare at the insolent little girl and Tidus.
Tidus jumped and quickly closed the book, staring at her. He was startled from her coming out of nowhere, but he soon calmed down once he realized it was her and there was nothing to worry about. He actually felt more annoyed than worried, being interrupted by her.
“A book? Why would you need a book in this section? You sure you weren’t just stalking me?…And enough about your bow already, just because it’s green it doesn’t mean anything.”
He sounded less amused than usual, most likely because he was interrupted at the wrong time
“The book’s in the other section, but it’s too high up! And I saw you running into the library like a moron, so I came to get you to help!” Cirno scoffed, crossing her arms. “Plus, it’s green, so it’s not my special bow. And I won’t even care if you take this one! Or flush it down a toilet!”
“What’s the deal with that dumb book, anyways? You look like you just saw a ghost! …Well, not ghosts like the ones that float around the school grounds, but you know what I mean.” she added on, shrugging, before peering at the cover of the book. She squinted, reading it in her head.
“The Secrets of the Knights of… of…” Cirno began reading out loud, before encountering a difficult word. She brought a hand to her face and thought, before continuing.
“Wal… Wallpergas?” she tried again. “Walpurgis…? Walpurgis!! What’s a Walpurgis, Idiot?” she asked cheerily, excited by her own success. “Is that something you can eat?”
Tidus looked around to see if anyone had noticed her shouts, looking back at her and standing up, holding his book. He gave her a little glare before speaking to her.
“Alright then, where would this book be? Just tell me so I can get the book for you and you can be on your way.”
He started to walk with her, going wherever she told him to go so he could get the book and get her out of the library.
“Oh, and the green bow looks silly on you. It doesn’t match your hair at all. Not like the blue one, anyway. Besides, it’s the wrong shade of green and it doesn’t even match our house colors.”
“And this book is something a first year shouldn’t know about, If I told you…” He stopped and smiled at her.
“…I’d have to kill you~…”
Was it a joke? He really would think of killing anyone, especially a little girl in the same house as he is. Tidus liked to joke around, he had a fun personality and it make it easy for him to take things lightly and joke with them, it had to be a joke. …Right?
She took her bow off and looked at it as she walked. “It looks fine!” she argued and pouted. “Slytherin is green, and this is green! So it matches!”
Cirno stopped walking and tilted her head at Tidus as soon as he made that statement about killing her, and put on a face that practically spoke are you kidding me?. “Kill me? Hah! Like you have a chance!” she boasted, locking eyes with the scary senior as her chest puffed out. She wasn’t taking Tidus’ threat seriously at all; like he could get away with murder! In Hogwarts, too! ”You couldn’t kill me if you tried, you’re too stupid!”
She looked around at the shelves, and her face lightened up again.
“Hooray! This way!” Cirno ran over to a shelf, and pointed to a book a few feet above her head. “A Children’s Anthology of Monsters!” she yelled, jumping up and down and pointing. “That one! That one! That one!”
Tidus smiled at her, walking up to the shelf and grabbing the book, looking at it. It was a strange one, and looked rather silly if you’re going to learn about the monsters of the world. He shrugged and handed her the book anyway, not really caring what she did as long as it didn’t affect what he was doing at the moment.
“Don’t get too tough for your own good. Besides, I wouldn’t want to have to kill you anyway.”
He took a few steps back and looked around, then looked back down at Cirno.
“Well, you have your book, so I guess you can go, unless there’s anything else you need me for?…”
She snatched the book out of Tidus’ hands. “Yay!” she held the book to her chest, and returned Tidus’ smile with a laugh.
“There’s no such thing as being too tough! Or too strong! That’s something you’d wanna remember if you want to be as great as me!” she vaunted enthusiastically. “Plus, you don’t scare me! Your dumb death threats don’t mean anything! You’re too much of a scaredy-cat to try anything against me!”
She dwindled on for a moment, and looked down, and back up at Tidus. “Don’t do anything stupid, okay? I don’t want you to do suspicious things and get expelled.”
He smiled at her, listening to her until the end. He felt kind of bad, because no matter how much she would call him an idiot, or yell at him, she still cared about him. Her voice sounded sincere at the end, as well as her words. Unfortunately, he didn’t know how much trouble he would get into if this book was found out. Maybe no one really knows what it is, or maybe since the Voldemort incident was such a long time ago, it’s okay to have these kinds of things.
“So, you don’t think I’m doing anything suspicious? If that’s the case…that makes me feel better…but then again you’re just a first year…I’m not sure how much you could really know at this point.”
Cirno looked around to see if any students were nearby. After she determined the scene was clear of bystanders, she spoke in a hushed but stern voice. “Just ‘cause I’m a first year doesn’t mean I’m dumb! You’re doing something against the rules and you’re gonna get caught!”
Cirno glanced at the book Tidus was holding. “You’re being really secretive about that stupid book, and you should put it back where you found it before you’re discovered and you get shipped back to the muggle world!” Cirno reached up and started grabbing for the book, trying to pry it out of Tidus’ hands.
He sighed, she was probably right, but he wasn’t going to stop…not even for her. He knew he should not of accepted the book, but it wasn’t like he could refuse, it was practically handed to him. He was proud to be a Slytherin, perhaps too proud for his own good.
“H-Hey! Hands off!”
He was thinking about what she said to him, lost in thought and unable to react quick enough to get her away from touching the book. When she went to take it, a head of a snake popped out from the cover, striking at Cirno like a defense mechanism for those who weren’t meant to have the book. Tidus pushed her back to the ground and dropped the book on the ground, the snake slithering from the cover and at her with full force. Tidus quickly grabbed his wand and dispelled the snake, burning it into ash, trembling at what had just happened.
“A-Are you okay!? C-Cirno…?”
He looked around, trying not to be too loud, but his adrenaline from what just happened was pumping through his body, making him tremble at the thought of what could happen.
Cirno yelped and hit the floor with a thud. She shakily sat up, grasping her arm. Trembling, she sobbed and peeked at her arm, seeing two bite marks from that stupid snake. Her eyes widened, and she started to hyperventilate at the thought of that snake having venom.
“O-owww…” she whimpered, trying not to be too loud.
Tidus quickly helped her up, observing the snake bites. He knew the snake had to be venomous, since it was there to protect the book. Even if the snake wasn’t venomous, he didn’t want to take any chances. He sighed at her.
“I told you…now see what you did? Who knows what is going to happen…that wasn’t any normal snake. I think you should take yourself to the nurses, tell them you were messing with a spell for snakes or something, or a snake got you in the courtyard, okay?”
He grabbed his book and looked around, wiping a tear from her cheek. She gave her a worried smile, trying to get her to calm down. He wasn’t really good at this sort of stuff, but he had to at least try.
“You feel alright? You can make it down to the nurses by yourself, right? If I bring you, it will seem suspicious, especially since it’s a snake bite…I could get in trouble, and we wouldn’t want that, right, Cirno?”
He wiped another tear from her cheek, trying to comfort her and cover his own butt at the same time.
“I-I think I can go to the hospital wing on my own…” she sniffled and glanced at the bite, grimacing. She rolled down her sleeve, not even wanting to look at her injury anymore. She was still lightly shaking, the thought of death still running through her mind. Cirno looked at Tidus, and that dumb book again, and shuddered.
She kicked the snake’s ashes. “Am I gonna get in trouble?”
He shrugged, patting her head. He really didn't know what to say...he felt sort of bad for asking her to say it was something she did, even though it was his fault for having the book. He frowned at her and let out a quick smile.
"Just tell them that you were messing with a book I had, and you didn't know it was enchanted, and...then you got bit by the snake. I'll deal with the rest, okay?"
He just planned to grab any old book he had so he could tinker with it to make it seem like it was enchanted and such, even though he has no idea how to do that sort of thing, he could at least try. That was the plan at this point, use whatever book he could get his hands on as a cover up for the book he was hiding.

Even if the snake wasn't venomous, he didn't want to take any chances. He sighed at her.
"I told you...now see what you did? Who knows what is going to happen...that wasn't any normal snake. I think you should take yourself to the nurses, tell them you were messing with a spell for snakes or something, or a snake got you in the courtyard, okay?"
He grabbed his book and looked around, wiping a tear from her cheek. She gave her a worried smile, trying to get her to calm down. He wasn't really good at this sort of stuff, but he had to at least try.
"You feel alright? You can make it down to the nurses by yourself, right? If I bring you, it will seem suspicious, especially since it's a snake bite...I could get in trouble, and we wouldn't want that, right, Cirno?"
He wiped another tear from her cheek, trying to comfort her and cover his own butt at the same time.
