I cannot be trusted in craft stores as is, and Michael's had so much good shit on sale today..... Drum bones and flowers from my wildflower garden. I've been trying to figure out with most of the drum I have for the better part of a decade, and a lot of the longer, skinnier bones fit so well into these vials! So happy!!

The colors will fade from these as they dry. I only made 4 (the self control that took...) so I could see how different flowers from the garden hold up. If they dry nicely, they'll be for sale. If I hate them, I'll dump the flowers out in the garden (in the hopes that they'll reseed) and try something different. I've considered suspending them in mineral oil, so the color and shape can be preserved better, but that's more money that I'd have to spend. So we're sticking with this for now and hoping for the best.

I also have a ton of pressed flowers in a book currently, so I'm probably gonna toss them bad boys in resin or something. I'm having a lot of fun with resin these days. Just gotta figure out how to avoid bubbles....

Remember how in Yellowfang's Secret they had a plot point about a cat who was forced to have a litter she didn't want and every time she tried to get some support or sympathy from others she was met with complete dismissal because 'what kind of woman doesn't want to be a mother'? I do.

Really experimental piece, I've never done any sort of collage thing like this! Lizardstripe, the border swirls, and the 'cherubs' drawn by me, all the cutout pieces come from Mother's Day/baby shower cards or free-to-use PNG tumblr blogs. Black and white text is a direct quote from her in YS.

ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds

I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study

after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines

et voila

and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
