A ruthless superstition I have is that I must begin a new book right after I finish the last one. Doesn’t matter if the first words are written in my thoughts, or on colored sticky notes. Or if I get to publish it 2 years later. I have a legit fear of not having a work in progress. You can say it’s both my blessing and my curse. Because I see stories hidden beneath layers of something as simple as my routine English breakfast that I have at 1pm. The crispness of bread toast, vegetables dangling out of the edges like spiders, sunny side up eggs that make me feel like considering the idea of freezing my eggs, the dripping cheese, the circumference of the sausages and the silly things it makes me think about and how I tell myself to title my next book “Body Count” I tell you, whatever I call it, this new book will make me run out of eggs. ~For breakfast and other shenanigans! #tiencepay #novelist #writer #africanwriters
