You Learn Something New Everyday...

This is the first story I did as a Independent Video Journalist. This is a new adventure for me. I decided to independently do my stories because I've been out of school for 4 years and needed some new journalism material.

I haven't landed a job at a commercial television station, so I wasn't in an environment where I could chase after stories on a daily basis. So I decided to create my own experience by independently doing my own stories.

Back in March, I had the pleasure to cover Black Girls Code's first workshop in Memphis. I was planning on shooting everything on my own, but my husband wanted to support me. I gave him a quick crash course on how to shoot interviews and he was a great help. I wrote and edited the story. I shot the b-roll and my husband shot the interviews.
