Make Friends You Can Call By Their Nicknames, Even When You're an Old Fart [Open]
Little what? Asssassin? Messiah? Neo? Compliments to his humble self could wait, the only thing that Thing on the plate elicited from Kira was a slightly upturned nose and a bit of a stirring in the belly. His will was waaaaaaaaay stronger than his human limitations okay, and he didn’t have to go meditate in his underwear under a waterfall to achieve it or run around with a little boy band, okay?!
Tigger Sensei got a brief look over the top of the mag for his troubles. “Yeah, How to Tighten a Screw for Dummies, how to practice Buddhism for dummies, how to poach an egg, blah blah….if you want to reach nirvana I don’t think it’d help you much more than those shitty tabloids, actually. Gotta live it.” Amusement shimmered in Kira’s eyes at the obvious brush off of his comments…how to rile up this guy, it might take a bit but it might be fun and not disastrous to tax payers right? Right?
Jesus, did he really need his reading glasses to take a tally ho of his name and note it for the honor roll/shit list for later? Maybe ‘tetsu should get some bionic eyes or something, then, to make it all faster…or wait older folks complain about fast acting shit more, right? Nevermind, Kira could be patient when it suited him.
To show just how unconcerned he was at the older mans’ approach Kira kicked it back; literally plopping his feet onto the surface of the counter and scattering various craploads of crap around, settling his mag onto his lap for better angle-age. As he listened to Kotetsu’s words something might have given away the look on his face at the big reveal of the big papa bear, but as soon as it flickered across his face it was gone just as quickly as contempt filled his voice. “You don’t even know? Tch, some papa bear.”
Oh wait, he was still talking. Hmmm, so he was a teacher (well authority figure) back at that shithole school and not some random nagging old fart- wait a second…Something sounded familiar enough to make him pause.
“That name…huh, whatever. You haven’t seen me around because I’m not sloppy enough to get caught unlike the rest of these amateurs. You’re welcome. I’ve saved you some boring office time and paperwork.” The steady gaze into Kotetsu’s face was a polite way of saying so fucking what, old timer? You ain’t got nothing on me.
Well the food here was pretty cheap for some ski lodge, if only a certain Shinsengumi dog was here to praise Kotetsu's choice in condiments. Don't knock it till you try it.
...But did people really need manuals on how to tighten screws? The Buddhism thing sounded a bit more useful, and poaching eggs...Kaede had expressed in the past that she wished her dad would cook something that wasn't fried rice. Maybe if he picked up that book—
No. He was here to buy HER something, not indulge in things for his own gain...though that book really would be to help her out in the end. A roundabout gift like that wouldn't impress his only child, though. Inward debate, goooo! Kira had some convincing employee skills afterall, deep down inside somewhere. Gooey center.
And just like that, now facing the underside of the delinquent's feet, his heightened opinion flopped. Wasn't he aware that in some cultures that was considered highly offensive?! Not that..Kotetsu really knew which culture that originated from or if that was something he thought up in his sleep (shit happens when you pass out with the news on) but he was too busy trifling over his daughter's age anyway. "I just told you..!"
That was one way of admitting you were up to no good. Kotetsu wasn't surprised, but he wasn't about to turn the store into a counselor's office. "If I didn't want to help you kids out, I wouldn't have signed up for the job. It might sound boring to you, but helping people is important to me." Straight out of an episode of Sesame Street, Kotetsu was.
And that look? Over his head. He figured that was just the way Kira looked. Good, good.
