tbh I see this mistake a lot, but I did not expect to see it in a book of Jewish fiction?? how do you get that many Jewish authors and Jewish editors and still have mistakes like this?

finished my the pomegranate gate reread in preparation for book three to come out! I had forgotten SO much, I'm really glad I reread it. I'll wait another month probably before rereading the republic of salt.
sooooo excited for book three
I'm rereading The Pomegranate Gate but no longer have any social media apps on my phone so not will add some of my not-exactly-live-tumbled thoughts here. Very possible these will also reveal how much I have forgotten about the books and thus why I am rereading them before book three is released so soon!
the old woman's first conversation with Naftali feels like it has so much going on. why is she in front of his ransacked house â was she looking for the book? and is that why she's sticks with him?
"I don't exactly look like I swallowed a diamond, do I?" this makes me think she has literally swallowed a diamond
she asks a lot more questions about what happened to Toba than makes sense for her to ask. just sayin
âHe was like the knife that wounds, and like the wound.â â Paradises Lost, Ursula K Le Guin
itâs all mysterious until you actually speak Hebrew and then itâs just exactly what the words mean
that was also the most insane (derogatory) yichud omg
ok that was the absolute most INSANE meet-cute/first date that I have read in my life. leora and jake are matching each other's crazy in a never-before-seen way. the rest of this book had better be them being complete lunatics together, because I am getting out the popcorn. this is wild
I just think itâs funny when a sci fi book has someone mumbling a bit of the mournerâs kaddish and the other character uses their context module to see what it is and the context module says âhebrewâ
like number one â a better context module would let you know more than just the language. but really mostly the context module should not be saying itâs hebrew when itâs actually aramaic
Justice without compassion isn't justice, it's an abattoir. - Amos Oz, A Tale of Love and Darkness
I know it's hard to figure out how to make sure everyone knows This Character Is Definitely Jewish but no one has ever started a sentence with "So, nu, anyway." Just pick two!!!
why would you take two characters who spent the entire first book being insufferable and morally questionable then devote book two to making them Totally Understandable and doing Nothing Wrong Ever. why. why!!!!
also when did they learn to communicate like theyâve spent the last book in therapy AND NOT IN PRISON OR ON THE RUN, WHICH IS WHERE THEY ACTUALLY WERE.
most importantly: whyyyyyyyyy
okay I have finished the republic of salt and I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!!!!!!
ok so I take it zayiti is supposed to be Italian, is that right? So are all these cities actually countries that are loosely represented by the fruit itâs named after? When they get to anab are they going to be speaking French??
ok I know I find a lot of parallels to the story of the pardes but the three person expedition through the gate trying to find aravoth is also CLEARLY that. Iâm so here for it
the idea of a synesthesia-inspired weapon is cool. but it also fundamentally misunderstands synesthesia
xiala is about to fuck their day up get em girl!!!!
What are your fears? Rachel considered asking, but she already knew the answer: being alone.
