A 10" by 10" fingerpainting of a portion of the milky way. The more I worked on this one, the more I struggled.
A failed ambush in infrared.
While different than what I typically post, I thought I'd share. Sometimes I throw planning out the window and draw very flat dragons in pen as a way to wind down. I was watching a tv show about freshwater fish when I did this one.
I'm still around! Just been busy with school and moving. That being said, here's another little 10"x10"acrylic finger painting. Scientific accuracy was not the goal here.
I started doing 10"x10"acrylic finger paintings as a way to practice being less of a perfectionist about my space art. The painting here is my second one, in which a planetary body passes in front of a blue star.
Here's a fictional seadragon nebula inspired by the real Dark Doodad Nebula.
I started doing 10"x10"acrylic finger paintings as a way to practice being less of a perfectionist about my space art. The painting here is my first one, in which I left realism behind for a Klimt vibe.
Insects gathering around a streetlight.
Space tadpoles with elodea in the background.
just wanna say as an amateur astronomer and space artist, your space art is some of the coolest and most creative astronomical art i have ever seen. The way you blend human-readable elements into the format of a fictional astrophoto or space art in such a way that it looks like it could almost be real and just a super strong pareidolia response is absolutely genius. And it's just extremely technically competent too.
It's really inspiring stuff! Thank you for making it!
Thank you, friend! That my work can impress an astronomer is very high praise.
I've learned a lot from amateur astrophotographers and astronomers in my attempts at (fantastical) accuracy. My goal is to bring the vastness and smallness of things into a single image because it's meaningful to me in a way that's hard to explain. Anyway, I'm glad that I can give a little back.
A sketch of some space tadpoles and elodea.
Red sky at morning.
I've recently gone back to community college for a fresh degree in accounting. Needless to say, my life has been hectic, but I'll try to post more often now that I'm settled in.
I've been busy, so I completely forgot to post these last few weeks. Here's a couple of images of a planet and some alien space craft in orbit.
Some old pride art that I gender-weirded and grungified. The larger ones have a glitter sheen that's hard to capture with my cellphone.
Ring shadows across water-filled craters.
Here's a detail of some rings around a planet (forgot to post for the last few weeks).
