Chapter 1: The prisoner
It was a late summer evening on the district of Adalia. Most of the shops were closed and many of the folk had gone to their home. It was quiet as usual.
A figure flew past the closed doors, it was a young man running. He'd swiftly look behind him every so often. He was being chased.
"Stop right there you criminal!" yelled one of the pursuers with a robotic voice. It was a Mercury unit, a security android.
Two more units were running alongside it.
The young man leapt on nearby crates and hopped on the roof.
"Bet you can't catch me now!" he snickered, sticking his tongue at the androids.
He jumped from roof to roof, as quick as the breeze. His gleeful escapade was soon interrupted by two floating, spherical drones.
Iris units.
"Retrieve the stolen goods or face the consequences." ordonned the drone.
"Like hell I will!" he shouted.
The thief jumped from the roof into a backyard. His lungs were aching, he couldn't give up now. He needed that food basket, he wouldn't give it away so easily.
He had run so far there were no more houses to be seen. He had reached a grove. From afar, he noticed a fence with a panel that read in large red letters:
NO TRESSPASSING.
He swiftly climbed up the fence and entered an old building. He leaned against the wall to catch his breath. His heart was tumping so hard he could feel it in his throat. He waited. There was not a single sound.
He got up clumsily, he was struck by curiosity upon entering this place. This building must have been hundreds, no, thousands of years old. The architecture dated from before the The Wrath.
His hand caressed the walls as he progressed deeper into the building. He squinted, he could see, very faintly, a purple light emanating from the end of a corridor.
Catious, he grabbed a rusty bar on the ground and approached it tiptoe. He peeked into the light and his jaw dropped in amazement.
There was a large room, devoid of any furniture, its walls were smooth and pitch black, as if they were new. There was not a single crack ruining the smooth, reflective surface. But that was not what surprised him the most.
In the center of the room, there was someone, their limbs wrapped by chains. As he walked closer, he could see it was a young woman with long ebony hair, her skin was as pale as the moon. The only clothing she wore was a black leotard and long boots of the same colour. Her head was hanging forward, as if she was asleep. Her chest was still moving, indicating she was still alive. He reached out his hand hesitantly, afraid to awaken her. To his surprise, she didn't react when he pressed his palm against her head.
He then observed the chains that were keeping the woman captive. They had strange glyphs of different colours engraved in them. The chains binding her left arm were blue, the ones on the right arm pink and the ones wrapping her legs a bright orange.
The moment he touched the chains, he yelped in pain, as if his body was traversed by electricity. They were clearly equipped with a seal that made them unable to be removed with bare hands. He scanned the room and noticed that there were strange, colourful glowing orbs at the base of each chain. He had no idea who exactly this woman was, but he couldn't bear the sight of seeing someondy in such a state. He took a napkin from his pocket and placed a stone inside. He then swirled it around the air, aiming for each orbs and hured the projectile, shattering the orbs. As the orbs bursted, the chains lost their energy and went limp, freeing the captive. The young woman collapsed on the floor, still unconscious.
The young man hurried to pick her up, making sure she wasn't injured. He parted the strands of hair that were on her face and was taken away by her beauty. She looked so sublime, so surreal.
"Don't worry, you're safe now. I'll take care of you now." Upon lifting her up, he noticed something on her chest. Right on the sternum, was engraved a purple tatoo, it looked like a full moon.
He shook his head and headed for the exit. It was late and he had to come back home, and of all things, he found some random girl in an ancient room.
Every old chapter has been deleted. Time to post the new version of the first chapter.
Currently thinking of re-writing all of the chapters I’ve published. I feel like they need improvement.
