there’s a sigh at the vision of all this. “ what the fuck is going on now? ” the mage says. there’s too much going on right now for something this weird. after all, tensions are high between the kingdoms. there are talks about nilfgaard — things she doesn’t want to think about. it’ll surely become harder to do whatever she wants if a war breaks out. “ did you have a rough night in one of the taverns? ” she asks. “ you’re in vengerberg. 1207. ”
“120 -- 1207 ? like the time ? what’s the year ?” eyes move back towards the tiny shop next to them. ( funny how it’s gotten smaller since they started traveling. ) fingers touch softly against the wood. “oh, baby girl -- what have you gotten me into ?” a soft sigh slips past their lips, before they turn back towards the woman. “right. okay -- well, me and my [ … ] mobile library, seem to have gotten a bit turned around. aiming for 1702, lovely lady i was interested in meeting. anyway, listen -- vengerberg ; village, town, country, or planet ?” feet step slightly forward with their words, as they slowly make their way closer to the stranger. ( avery knows they should be more careful -- but if the doctor can do it. ) feet stop a few paces from her, as eyes glance towards the digital watch resting on their wrist -- finding the correct date and time there. “interesting ! -- also, drinking, i don’t do that. i might have done it. before, but i don’t anymore. at least i don’t think i do.” eyes glance back up towards the woman, a small smile appearing on their lips. “what’s your name ?”

hands carefully hold the stack of books, as they make their way through the shelves. ( it’s like it’s getting smaller in here -- forcing them out and into somewhere new. ) hands quickly replace the books balancing on their palms, before avery moves away from the shelf. they move quietly as they round the corner. stumbling slightly as they stop themselves from bumping into the man. ( he’d been in a few times -- he always looked so sad. ) feet step carefully around him. avery works quietly for a moment, shoving the books carefully back into their spots, before eyes move to land on him. “are you finding everything okay ?”

( they can’t. they have no home. ) slowly, they lift the mug to their lips, taking a long sip off the probably too hot tea. they hear the soft shift of sand and gravel behind them. they don’t even have to look -- they know it’s vara. ( never far behind. ) they can’t help the small smile that forms against the lip of their mug, before they’re lowering it. “i think i’ve been here too long. my kind -- i don’t think we’re supposed to stay in one place.” eyes move off the stars, and down to their mug, where they watch their own fingers move against the porcelain. ( it was their mother’s favorite. ) a soft sigh slips past their lips, as they make room for the other next to them. “i’m just not sure i want to be [ … ] alone, again.”

wide eyes stare at him from across the console. it’s not their fault they’re new at this ! eyes move from him down to the buttons. fingers press wildly against them, listening to the low groaning of the machine. “shut up ! shut up ! i am doing it right !” words pour past lips, as avery grips against the low bar on the console. eyes move back up to brock -- eyebrows furrowing deeply together. “hold on to something !”

He is making his usual patrol, and he pulls his Bantha to a halt as he and his brethren come across a building that most certainly was not there at sunrise. The Chief signals for the others to wait, but prepare, as he dismounts the Bantha and creeps towards the building. He grips his gaderffii tightly, but upon feeling the unique energy emanating from the building, his grip loosens slightly. The perplexed sensation he has doesn’t last long, however, as a single individual emerges from the structure. They are unarmed, and they appear to be quite dazed. The Chief takes a few cautious steps back, but throws an arm up to the others, telling them to wait. He drives his gaderffii into the sand.
❛ Urrak. ❜ He calls out to the stranger, who appears to not know where they are. They are radiating the same energy as the building. [ Don’t move. ] The Chief cannot take any chances, and he signs a ‘stop’ motion to them ; then, he points a single finger to the center of his palm. ❛ Urk-ah? ❜ [ Are you alone? ]
they can still feel the dried tears coating through the dirt layering their face. they’re not even sure where they’re going -- just that they had to leave. ( they had to get far away. ) despite the argument that had passed their lips, they still found themselves standing helplessly in their parents’ tardis -- listening as the whirls started on their own accord. they had screamed, and begged for it to stop -- for it to take them home. ( better to die standing than run away scared. ) the machine didn’t listen. instead, it has raced through the time vortex and landed -- then, proceeded to shut down.
they’d stumbled through the dark console room, fresh tears pooling within their eyes with every step. they can still hear the frantic voice of their father, waking them in the middle of the night, forcing the cloak over their head and forcing them inside the vehicle. they’d begged and pleaded for him not to close the door -- but he did. ( he did. ) shaky hand reaches for the door handle, twisting it slowly, before they’re shoving the doors open. brown eyes take in their environment. they notice the sand first, eyes watching as the wind softly blows some through the parted doors. ( it’ll take decades before they find it all. ) slowly, their eyes move up. one foot starts to move when they hear the other’s words : don’t move. panic slowly seeps into their veins, as fresh tears begin to pool within their eyes. are you alone ? a sob breaks past their lips, and they feel the ground knock against their knees. ( they’ve never been more alone. )
