Deceit does have one cannon fear. Deceit fears the government.

I was waiting for someone to point this out but here we go. *Clears throat*

Deceit at the witnesses stand supplies a lot. He constantly brings up this.

He knows of the consequences the government has and uses strong language like “punished” and “deadly”. He focuses on the consequences mainly like execution.

Not to mention this bit.

Deceit fears what they would do to Thomas if he were to not obey their “abstract” societal standards.

Later on Deceit is talking about “the powers above” and how abstract it is. He states that in some cases people fear them.

However...

He gestures to himself when he said “fear them”.

And if that’s not enough he literally says it right here lmao.

Deceit is self preservation. He wants what’s best for Thomas. He wants what Thomas wants. What is one thing that keeps you from doing whatever you want? The government.

Do you obey the laws set by the government beacause as Deceit put it... “Feel in your heart” the laws are right? No. You fear being punished.

Deceit fears the government because of their power they have over Thomas.
