I/me/myself 2018 demo is SO specifically transfem to me and it’s so hard to explain

These lyrics are so transfem to me, wishing you could be smaller and more conventionally feminine, the acknowledgement (in my eyes) of how identifying as trans (especially being a girl) makes you more likely to be assaulted, and specifically using the term girls

This is in comparison to the full released version, which reads far more to me as a rejection of gender itself, using pronouns only referring to the self instead of gender and saying theyre all “equally invalid”

They give off such different vibes despite being the same song that intended the same message

trans women specifically are so hated that getting mistaken for a trans woman is dangerous. thank god all of us can clear up that we aren't trans women to defuse that tension a little bit, thank god we can all fall back on not being trans women when it comes to legal matters. imagine if you couldn't do that. sure would suck if there was a type of person who couldn't do that. glad none of us are like that though.
