thank you <3
I just wanna love who you really are
I’d like to think Sakura’s first birthday on their travels might have gone something like this:
It hasn’t been too long since they’ve started their travels—maybe a few months or so. The day before, they’d arrived in some moderately sized village whose name isn’t important to remember, and decided to stay there for a while; to take rest, stock up, explore, and help around.
Sakura wakes in the morning a little later than usual, which surprises her, since she remembers asking Sasuke to wake her up when he wanted to leave to buy some food. She gets out of bed, changes into day clothes, and makes her way to the kitchen only to find Sasuke there, setting up breakfast on the table, apparently just done cooking.
“Sasuke-kun,” Sakura greets, a bit startled. “Good morning.”
Sasuke only nods. “Morning. I made breakfast.”
Though not exactly a rare occurrence, this still makes her smile—because she’s quite sure she knows the reasoning behind this.
“So you did.” She pauses, and smiles wider, an edge of teasing to it. “And you let me sleep in, too. Didn’t I ask you to wake me?”
Taking a seat at the table, Sasuke merely shrugs like it is nothing, but the way he avoids her gaze makes her think maybe he’s a bit embarrassed.
“There wasn’t much that we needed to buy, so I figured I might just go alone.”
Sakura simply hums at this, but there’s that knowing look in her eyes, and she thinks Sasuke sees it when he fleetingly glances at her. But, she says nothing, only murmurs an affectionate thanks and sits to eat her own breakfast (one she remembers telling Sasuke she quite favored, not too long ago).
But his particular behavior doesn’t end there. They head off in town afterwards, and he accompanies her every step of the way, even when she heads out to shop for herself. At some point, she tries to tell him that he doesn’t need to feel like he needs to stay, that he can go to the stores he likes instead of tailing behind her into ones she knows he’s not interested in. But Sasuke stays, and he never complains, prompting another knowing smile to her lips. He even pays for her lunch when they head out to eat, later.
Then, he takes her to the Hanami festival. At this point, Sakura doesn’t question him anymore; she knows with certainty why he’s acting so especially nice. They stay there for hours, visiting food stands and trying out game platforms (well—Sakura did), watching the pretty pink trees blooming in full; and though it is crowded, with girls trying to pester him after his good looks, Sasuke never scowls, never looks surly. It ends up making one of the very best birthdays of her life.
When they retreat from the festival, they take the long way back to the inn. Sakura has an armful of prizes she’s won for herself, and in her free hand, she holds a stick of syrup coated dango (which he paid for, again), chewing on it thoughtfully. She’s happier than she’s been in a long while, and in the moment, she thinks it can’t really get better than this.
But Sasuke proves her wrong as they stop by a small wooden bridge overlooking a river surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees, pretty pink petals fluttering in the wind, as he says, “I do have a gift for you, you know.”
Sakura’s green, green eyes turn towards him and widen, and she swallows her bite of food with a blooming blush. “You do?”
Sasuke nods almost imperceptibly, and she thinks she sees him swallow, but she can’t be too sure.
She opens her mouth to ask what he’s gotten her, before he suddenly leans down and presses his mouth to hers with achingly gentle pressure, lone hand gripping her shoulder to anchor her in place.
He pulls away before she can fully realize what’s happened, but doesn’t put much space back between them, the ghost of a smile tugging at his lips. His eyes soften when she reaches to touch her lips with her free hand (which has dropped the dango she’d been holding, she now realizes).
The tug of his lips becomes more insistent, and he taps her forehead with two fingers—the gesture heavy with affection. “Happy birthday, Sakura,” he says.

“S-Sasuke-kun! You made me drop my dango!”
“…I’ll get you a new one.”

A/N: So basically I was writing a whole thing about this headcanon (started it shortly before i even posted the headcanon) but then @sasusake also had to grow inspired and write her own little thing about it and it was so PERFECT that I couldn’t write that part over. I wanted to just write my own little thing to relate to her own. AND HERE WE ARE. So the first scene is entirely me, but that second one is entirely @sasusake. :’) HAPPY HOLIDAYs GUYS.

It wasn’t something he ever thought he would care about.
New Years. The time of cheer and celebration, of well-wishes and new starts, where families long grown apart came together to love and cherish one another in the spirit of a new beginning.
A time that did not belong to a teenage, orphaned boy brimming with rage, consumed by the darkness of his past and set out on the path of revenge.
Sasuke had never cared about the holidays. Even when Team Seven had made themselves a second family, for the brief moment he’d allowed them to be, the time of New Years had never quite brought him any meaning. They’d only reminded him of a past he could never have again, one that always had his throat tightening up: his mother’s gentle smile flashing through Sakura’s soft, sun-bright grin as she handed him his end-of-year present, Itachi’s kind chuckle resonating within Naruto’s bright laughter as he stuck their homemade shimekazari to the entrance of their sensei’s household, the touch of his father’s hand fused with Kakashi’s as he ruffled his hair while they watched the first sunrise of a new period.
This was the first year since the massacre of his clan where the season had ever brought him a sense of peace.
“Oof,” Sakura exclaimed, as she moved to sit at his side. Her hand cupped the positively gorgeous swell of her belly, and she smiled, rubbing softly. “She sure is getting heavier to carry these days,” she said, throwing him a teasing glance.
The sight of those crinkling eyes almost had him smiling, too. The pregnancy really made her glow, today, he couldn’t help but to think. His wife was so beautiful like this.
“You all right?” he asked, shifting his lone hand over her own to cradle the weight of their child. He felt his eyes soften as his wife giggled and leaned against his bad shoulder, the prettiest grin to her lips.
“Oh, I’m perfect. Everything’s absolutely perfect.”
His mouth tugged at the corner a little, thumb caressing the skin of her hand. Chest warm, he leaned over and pressed a kiss to her hair. “Hm. Good,” he murmured, contented with himself.
(this was the life he never imagined he could have, filled with so much bliss and hope and love—something that seemed so unattainable, once.)
Thin fingers reached to intertwine with his own, still pressing lovingly to her rounded stomach, and he sighed, long and quiet. His eyes slipped closed with the serenity of the moment.
“It’s almost midnight,” Sakura murmured, then, her smile transparent in her voice. He let his eyes flutter open once more just to see it. “The fireworks will start soon, won’t they? Maybe we should start heading out there.”
Humming, Sasuke merely nodded, before letting his gaze fall to her ankles, observing how puffy they were. “Can you walk there by yourself?” he asked, honest in his query. After all, they had walked quite the distance today.
His wife, however, seemed quite surprised instead, brows shooting up high. Then, as she noticed where his eyes were set, she burst into laughter. “I’m fine, I swear! Anata, if you worry about me now, I wonder how intolerable you’ll be when we’ll be trying to last for the first sunrise.”
Sasuke made a small huff in response, lips quirking lightly again, before moving his hand swiftly to tap two fingers to her forehead. “Just trying to make sure my wife is comfortable, that’s all,” he said, his tone bordering on playful.
Sakura only smiled wider at that, green eyes gleaming so devotedly at him. It made his heart skip a beat, sometimes, when he saw how deeply this woman really loved him.
(—and how happy he made her.)
“Come on,” he mumbled, letting his fingers fall away softly. Pushing himself to his feet, he turned to face her once more, and extended a hand. “Let’s get going.”
Shaking her head at him, his wife simply grinned and accepted his offered help, allowing him pull her safely to her feet as she cupped the swell of her stomach and patted it gently, breathing out another soft exclamation at the weight. Sasuke found himself smiling faintly at the sight, reaching for the thick blanket he’d kept near the makeshift bench for precisely this moment, throwing it over his bad shoulder as he touched his hand to Sakura’s back and started their trek towards the sloped hill overlooking the small village.
“Hey, Sasuke-kun,” his wife called as they finally settled on the grass, wrapped in a wholesome warmth and watching the town scintillating with life.
“Hm?”
“When the fireworks are done,” she started, smiling softly—but never looking away from the gleaming lights, “we’ll be heading out to that temple we saw coming in, right? To offer our prayers and wishes for the new year?”
His features softened. He moved to press his lips to her hair lingeringly. “If you’re not too tired…” he murmured.
She turned at him then, and smiled near blindingly, her green, green eyes a thousand times more lovely than the twinkling view below them.
(gods, he hoped their child would end up with eyes as beautiful as hers.)
“Of course I’m not too tired. We took a nap this afternoon just to keep up with the tradition like everyone else, remember?”
“Right,” he said, smiling faintly once more. “We’ll head there after the fireworks, then.”
As if on cue, the sound of one taking off tore through the air, capturing their attentions; with wonderment, their gazes shifted towards the dark sky, catching the path of a shimmering trail, before it disappeared for a split moment and exploded in glittery embers, making Sakura gasp. She leaned against him in her delight, one hand drifting lovingly over her pregnant belly, while the other sought out his own. Sasuke couldn’t help but to sigh at this, lacing their fingers together as the show of colorful sparkling bursts continued, commemorating the start of something new.
.
.
The sunrise slowly greets them, in beautiful shades of orange and pink that spill across the sky, awakening the world to a new year. What residual warmth it lends to the chilly air reminds Sasuke that, in just a few months, he’ll get to feel the breath of his child for the first time. This year, his clan will begin anew. He wonders, fondly, if the child’s hair will be as pink as its mother’s; as pink as the light that breaks through the scattered white clouds; as pink as the lips smiling sweetly at him.
“What are you thinking about, Sasuke-kun?”
He looks down at her belly, visible just beneath her cloak, and imagines their child to be warm and safe – and happy? He hopes so. Sakura makes him feel happy, and warm, and safe.
(She keeps him safe from his demons. Safe from himself.)
“I’m grateful,” he says. He rests his hand on her belly and watches her eyes wrinkle with joy and her cheeks blossom. She glows – more than the rising sun, more than the bursting sky, she glows with life – and he counts his blessings one by one; the image forever branded into his memory.
“Hmm… You’re taking a picture.” Sakura holds one hand up to his face, runs it across his chin. Her thumb traces the edge of his lips just as he leans in for a kiss, two smiles becoming one. Their child flutters against his palm; flutters inside his chest, inside his very soul, this product of their love and ode to his salvation.
He promises, before the sun and the mountains and the temples, before the sky and the trees and the clouds; he promises he’ll always protect them, and cherish the feelings connected in their hearts.
i’ll wait. rated T.

it’s like the most PERFECt song for traveling-but-still-healing-sasusaku?????
It happens more often than she likes to admit--dreaming about their past. Ever since the war, she’s lost count of how many nights she’s woken up to her heart pounding and her skin slicked with sweat, green eyes struck open wide with fear.
In all these months, Sakura has found that it is easy to forgive the one you love, but so very hard to forget about the bad things that they have done; the memories haunt her still, having yet to recover from the feeling of Sasuke’s fingers around her throat, of his chidori lunging for her brain, of his hand shredding her heart to pieces.
She is still trying to heal, after all this time.
And all while he sleeps right next to her.
“Sakura?” she hears, breaking her from trance with a gasp. The touch that follows seconds after has her recoiling on pure instinct, gaze snatching to the warm body sitting up as well.
Her mouth parts as she meets the sight of mismatched eyes stilled on her with clear concern, lips pulled into a frown. It makes her swallow.
“S-Sorry,” she utters, breath a bit choppy. Shakily, she reaches to tuck back a lock of hair. “I didn’t mean to wake you...”
note: as a celebration of the end of the anime i am temporarily back!
when he returns, she is waiting for him. and he knows, so he goes to see her first.
his hair is longer and his shoulders broader and his voice deeper. she blushes when he sits next to her on the bench, with the familiar croak of crickets surrounding them. she looks up at the stars and remembers the nights they accompanied her while she cried over him. she briefly wonders if he looked at the same stars, but does not expect that he thought of her at all.
“i’m home,” he says quietly.
she smiles and greets him with a cheery “welcome home!” as she had always done in the past.
he looks at her and smirks, because even after everything she was still the same. and if he could acknowledge naruto, it was about time he looked at sakura. she always looked genuinely happy he was here, and it made his heart warm.
“what do you want to do first?” she asks, kicking her legs and leaning back.
he keeps his stare on her but she doesn’t seem to notice even though all she used to do was look at him although it has been long since she felt him next to her. even though it is late at night and she should be sleeping, she looks content to be here with him.
“this,” he finally replies.
“hm?” she looks at him.
and then she really looks at him and realizes the depth of his stare and the strength of his presence and she suddenly gets the breath sucked out of her. she does not ask what he found in his travels, but she knows that there is a comfort that he now has when he is around her.
her red cheeks intensify but she knows that it is right and so she takes his hand in hers and tries to still her beating heart. as they sit on the stone bench that led to outside gates, they remember the life they had ans the life that awaits them.

A/N: for @southsidestory, because it’s this girl’s birthday today!! I had to write a little something, as always. This piece was pretty hell to write, and I’m not fond of how it came out, especially with some parts still very awkward and ugh, but I decided to post it anyway! we don’t have a lot of fics depicting their relationship right after they’re married, and I wanted to try one. someday im gonna try again, cause really there’s so much i wanted to put in there that i just wasn’t able to, and maybe when i try again i’ll be able to.
nonetheless, enjoy the-morning-after-our-wedding!sasusaku :)
She never believed other women when they spoke about how different their relationship was the morning after.
Giddy and more in love than ever—well, that made sense. But how different could a relationship really get? They were still the same people, the same couple. Sakura couldn’t see how a marriage would change anything in their dynamics beyond now being husband and wife.
Yet now, as she stood at the frame of their rented lodge’s tiny kitchen, timidly watching her new husband cook breakfast and feeling the unfamiliar weight of her wedding ring hanging from a chain around her neck, Sakura felt like she was finally beginning to understand them.
(she hadn’t felt this shy ever since the time they shared their first kiss.)
Blushing lightly, Sakura tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and clasped her hands to her lap. Taking her courage in hand, she greeted almost too softly, “Good morning, Sasuke-kun.”
Sasuke stiffened, and she felt her stomach warm, a smile tugging to her mouth as the tip of his ears reddened. Her smile only grew kinder when he turned, holding himself a bit awkwardly, gaze flickering to her necklace holding a golden band. It made her heart skip a beat.
“…Morning,” he murmured. His fingers reached to thumb his own ring, and her eyes softened.
A short, somewhat uneasy silence settled; they both stared at each other, evidently unsure of what to do now, the weight of their status seemingly changing everything.
Then, Sasuke’s mouth parted. “Are you…” He trailed out, and paused for a moment, a taint of red dusting his cheeks. “…How are you feeling?”
It didn’t take a genius to figure out what exactly he was referring to, and she couldn’t help but to blush at this.
“Ah, I’m… a little sore,” she admitted, thinking back to their previous night where they had intimately joined for the first time after they had retreated from the small temple as husband and wife. “But um, I’m good. Really good.”
He nodded, but said nothing more, moving to rub his hand at the back of his burning neck.
Sakura couldn’t help but to smile at the sight, small and sweet. “This is… a bit weird, isn’t it?” she said.
A faint smile tugged at her husband’s mouth. “A bit.”
She felt her belly flop. Tentatively, Sakura padded towards him, and gently took his lone hand in both of her own, running her fingers over his rough palm. Looking up at him, she smiled brightly. “Hey, Sasuke-kun,” she said, gaze twinkling, “You’re going to burn breakfast.”
Eyes widening slightly, Sasuke let a curse slip from his mouth and shifted to the stove again, inspecting the food he’d just about forgotten, sending a light laugh tumbling out of her mouth.
She watched him for a long moment, eyes soft and smile tender. It almost didn’t feel real, to be with him like this. Although they’d been together for almost two years now, it seemed as though she hadn’t realized before now what exactly the future reserved for her. Sasuke was her husband, and she was his wife, and that meant they would spend the rest of their lives together, have children together–maybe even grow old together.
(if they were lucky enough to live past the life expectancy of the average shinobi.)
Heart rushing with incredible warmth, Sakura instinctively moved to wrap her arms around the love of her life, exhaling a deep, contented sigh against his shoulder blades when made a sound and grew taunt, evidently taken aback.
“Sasuke-kun,” she whispered, nuzzling the back of his shirt. “Sasuke-kun, we’re married.”
His shoulders eased, relaxing against her loving embrace, and she smiled.
“…Yeah,” he replied, his voice nothing but a fond murmur. “Yeah, we are.”
She hugged him tighter. “It’s so unreal isn’t it? I always wanted you back, Sasuke-kun, but I never thought we’d get married. I never thought you would end up loving me back in the end.” Closing her eyes, she let a small, tender smile pull to her lips. “And now here we are and… and it feels like something straight out of a fairytale.”
She heard Sasuke sigh softly. Plainly unable to find the words to reply, he simply moved his hand over her own and intertwined their fingers instead, squeezing tightly. A long silence took over, comfortable and easy.
“You know Sasuke-kun,” Sakura eventually said, synching her every breath to his own, “right now… I’m happy.” Eyes still closed, she breathed in his scent, and smiled. “So, so happy.”
She felt Sasuke pull away then, arm untangling her own to allow himself to turn around. When his gaze found her own, she felt her heart flutter at the warmth and tenderness she found there.
“Yeah,” he murmured, pulling her close. His lips brushed against her forehead. “Me too.”
this atmosphere we’ve made. rated T.
Imagine the first time Sasuke and Sakura ever shared their first long, heated kiss.
They’ve never gone to this point before–all kisses prior had always been warm, sweet. Sometimes lingering, sometimes not, but they had always been chaste gestures, never intending of something more than to share tender affection. They’ve gotten comfortable with sharing these types of kisses, and neither of them really consider much more, because they’re used to going slow, and they’ve learned to relish in the moments.
But then comes a day where things are different. They’re in a small village making their way back to the inn they’ve chosen to stay at, hands full of much needed provisions. It’s been a nice day for them, filled with gentle smiles and cheeky banter, and it’s made them feel closer than usual. But then the sky rumbles, and rain starts to fall in heavy showers, and they make a run for it.
They’re breathless when they stumble inside their rented room, and not a single part of them is dry, but they can’t find it in themselves to be remotely annoyed. No, instead, Sakura is grinning, and her green eyes are gleaming, and with her hair soaping wet like this, Sasuke thinks that somehow, she looks more gorgeous than ever.
“You look ridiculous,” she says, laughing as she reaches with her free hand to pat his flattened, soaked hair. “Maybe I should give you a haircut soon, because you look like a wet dog like this–”
He doesn’t know what possesses him to drop what he carries and push her against the wall, then, but the action is enough to have her gasp, her own bags falling from her hand. Sasuke doesn’t pay any mind to their provisions scattering across the floor–he swoops in and kisses her instead, tangling his lone hand in her rain-soaked hair.
His kiss is hot, intense, almost frenzied in its ardor; he’s never kissed her like this, has never felt so feverish, and it’s a new kind of heaven, he thinks, to be with her in this way. It’s even better, he decides, when Sakura slips her arms around his neck and drags him even closer, kissing him with the same burning passion that consumes them in this moment. He feels dizzy, feels like he’s lost control and the air around them is suddenly too stuffy, but none of that matters when Sakura is shaking against him like this, positively overwhelmed by their heated moment as she drags her fingers to the nape of his neck and kisses him even harder.
They’re both shaking when they finally break apart some few long moments later, faces flushed and breathless like never before. Sakura’s legs are like jelly, and Sasuke’s mind can’t stop spinning, but they can’t seem to be able to put any distance between them. They don’t want to.
His hand has somehow found its place at her hip, fingers slipped beneath her shirt to feel the hot skin underneath, and he can’t seem to recall how it has gotten there. He doesn’t want to move it, either, he finds.
Sakura lets out a shaky breath, slim arms tightening around his neck. “T-That, um…” She trails out when she feels his hand moves, shifts to feel a little bit more warmth, and swallows tightly. “That was…”
She can’t seem to find the words, but he doesn’t blame her. He doesn’t think there are any words fitting to describe this new experience, either.
but guys… imagine the first time sarada got sick as a baby…
papasuke is worried when she has little appetite one day, increasingly so when sarada develops a fever and starts vomiting. his panic grows, suddenly under the assumption that something very serious must be going on, and he swears he has never scrambled so fast to get to his wife.
mamakura has never seen her husband quite so disheveled and concerned, his dark eyes so very wild and anxious, clueless about what to do.
“something’s wrong with sarada,” he says, his voice just short of trembling. “she–she was fine yesterday, but now she won’t eat and she has a fever and she’s been throwing up and i dont–i dont know what wrong. i dont know what i did.”
she calms him down, takes their tiny baby from him, and calmly proceeds to give her daughter a checkup. her voice is steady as she asks for sasuke to fetch the thermometer in the bathroom, along with her med kit, but this still doesn’t seem to manage to actually quell his concerns.
“is she okay?” he asks once sakura is seemingly done. he needs to know what he did wrong, because he is sure it’s his fault. he was the one alone with sarada yesterday. “did she eat something she shouldn’t have?”
sakura cups his cheek and smiles. “she’s fine, sasuke-kun, stop worrying so much. she’s just got a bit of the stomach flu, that’s all. she probably got it from boruto when we visited naruto and hinata two days ago. he was just getting over it, but it’s possible he might have still been contagious.”
relief visibly washes over his features. “so it wasn’t my fault?”
her eyes crinkled. leaning in to kiss his cheek, she said, “of course not. she’s not too sick, either–her fever’s very, very mild and she’s still pretty energetic. the only thing we have to worry about is trying to let her hold down her fluids.” she kissed his mouth, then. “but she’ll be fine. she’s okay.”
sasuke’s stiff shoulders finally relax, at that moment. it’s very scary sometimes, he thinks, to be a father.
I have this headcanon where Sasuke gets emotional after their first time. Like, it's the morning after and Sasuke has just woken up, and when he peers to his side, he sees Sakura still in her slumber, her body glowing with the faintest smile on her face. Then all of a sudden he's hit with an overwhelming wave of gratitude, thankfulness, and happiness because- at the thought of the night prior- he never thought life could be this beautiful. It's so much to process, he can't help but silently cry.
Rated T+/light M
When his eyes blink open, Sasuke feels like he’s never been so rested.
It takes a moment for him to realize where he is at first, as he looks around the darkened room and takes in the familiarity of the inn’s old walls, but the warmth to his side is something that immediately has him drawing back. He peers over, sees a mess of unruly pink hair, and feels his breath catch.
Sakura, his mind whispers. His heart skips a beat.
She looks so peaceful in her slumber, he can’t help but notice. Bare as the day she was born, innocent fingers splayed wide to his chest, and a small, blissful smile curled to her lips.
The truth of last night’s event shifts into focus, and Sasuke feels his eyes soften, his single hand reaching out to fleetingly touch her cheek.
She is happy. He’s made her happy.
Something in him swells at the thought, and he doesn’t know why his throat suddenly feels so tight.
He touches her jaw, ever so gently brushes his thumb over her lips, and remembers how it felt to be kissing her the night before. He remembers the way she cradled him between her thighs, how his heart expanded with warmth as she held him to herself, whispering earnest confessions that only had him wanting to bring them closer.
He remembers how their souls seemed to touch that night; gazes locked, and fingers intertwined as he moved above her, inside of her. How wholesome and passionate she made him feel, her name a whispered, heartfelt mantra to his lips that only she was ever meant to hear.
He remembers how she made his life seem so fucking beautiful, in that single, emotional moment of intimacy.
Dampness runs down his cheek, and Sasuke snaps from his thoughts, hand reflexively reaching to wipe at the wetness. He stiffens when he realizes he’s crying; soundless, and absent aching heart.
He’s crying because he’s happy, he realizes. Sasuke reaches out to touch her cheek again, a faint smile twitching to life as she stirs. He doesn’t bother to wipe away the silent tears that run down his cheeks once more.
“Sas’ke-kun…?” Sakura mumbles, green eyes blearily blinking open. She’s still too sleepy to notice the tears, and it almost makes him want to laugh.
He wonders how it is possible for him to be lucky, after everything he’s done. How Sakura can still be standing here at his side, completely and utterly willing to love him, to cherish him, to give him everything.
Fondness and appreciation washing over him with rattling intensity, Sasuke leans down, and brushes his mouth to her forehead, arm dragging her half-slumbering body closer.
“Morning,” he murmurs, closing his eyes.
He’s never felt so at peace.
His Time Returned Part 1
Author’s Note: I don’t believe that Sasuke spent all of his time bound and interrogated when he was back in the village. I am almost sure it was temporary. Here is what I imagined, and what I hope happened.
Sakura sat patiently outside of the interrogation building, where Ino’s father once worked, waiting for a particular face to walk out. “He will be released today,” Kakashi had assured her. “I feel he’d want to see you for some amount of comfort.” And so she sat, and so she waited, on a concrete bench that kept her from trembling with anxiousness.
Inside the building, Kakashi helped the Uchiha out of his sealed mask and strait jacket. Sasuke’s single arm was sore from the wrap, and throbbed at the sudden freedom it received. He slowly opened his eyes and adjusted to the dimly lit room to see his former teacher offer his hand to help him stand. Sasuke obliged. “You’re not quite free yet, Sasuke,” Kakashi said. “You have many trial dates set up with village leaders across the country to decide your punishments, if there are to be any.” Sasuke nodded slowly, understanding the degree of his crimes may lead him down a path that he deserved. “In the meantime,” Kakashi said, leading him out of the cell, “we have made arrangements for you to wait and become acclimated once again to village life.”
Sasuke was given a new set of clothes and ten minutes to clean himself up before leaving the facility. His wound stung as he washed his skin for only the second time since he had been taken into village custody. He was allowed daily treatments for his missing arm for one hour a day, although from strangers he had never seen around the village before.
Outside, Sakura raised her head and jumped as the doors to the facility opened. Mild disappointment struck her as she found her gray-haired sensei stroll out, hands in his pockets. “Oh, Sakura,” he said. “He should be on his way out here very soon.” He turned and began walking away.
“Sensei,” Sakura called out to him, “aren’t you going to stay?”
Kakashi looked back at his former pupil and grinned beneath his mask. “I’d much prefer not to,” he admitted. “I have a lot of paperwork to get done at my office that your master left behind.” As he walked off, Kakashi raised a hand for a salutation, and Sakura was left watching him leave.
“Sakura.”
The pink-haired girl froze and spun around at the sound of the familiar voice. Sasuke walked toward her slowly, his eyes trained on hers. His hair was damp and his black shirt seemed a size too large. The Uchiha insignia could be seen on his shoulders instead of between his shoulder blades. A small duffle bag was slung across his chest. “Sasuke-kun.” She looked him up and down, checking for any signs of immediate emergencies and found none. “Good to know you’re looking well,” she smiled weakly.
“I could be worse,” he assured her, clearly not convinced by her waivering tone.
There was a pause between them before Sakura remembered her purpose for waiting for him. She gave a little gasp before reaching into her hip bag to pull out a little bronze key. “The village helped make arrangements for your living space.” Sasuke raised his eyebrows at the small offering and stared, puzzedly, at the keychain it was attached to: a small bell, one that reminded him of their first mission, with a dainty pink flower to jingle against it. Sakura followed his gaze and blushed slightly. “It’s the only keyring I could find,” she admitted.
He allowed her to place it in his hand. “Thank you,” he said simply, hoping his gratitude seeped well enough into his voice.
The two of them stood there quietly for a few moments before Sakura blurted, “Would you like me to take you there?”
Sasuke raised his eyebrows in surprise.
The pink-haired girl’s face grew a shade of red brighter than the Uchiha’s fan upon realizing how forward her question was. “I-I mean it as…as…”
“Yes.”
Sakura’s eyes brightened at hsi voice.
“If you’re able to. I’d like to know where I live, now.”
Figure I’d post this now too along with my inktober stuff! Some fan art I did for my first OTP from when I was like 8!! Since I’ve recently been rewatching it and saw today’s episode thought it was fitting to post it today! Also, a good way to fit in some digital practice ^___^

because i saw gifs and caps of the filler part of sasuke locked up in prison, looking miserable.
It was four days before she was finally allowed to see him; before the council finally caved to her arguments and pleas.
Sakura padded along the damp halls of Konoha’s underground prison, and let out a shaky breath. She picked at her nails when she finally rounded the last corner, green eyes catching sight of a shadowed form in the corner of a cell.
Sasuke.
Biting her lip, she paused in her step. Sasuke’s head lifted then, and she felt her heart quicken. Forcing a faint smile, she swiftly started making her way again, thankful Ibiki never questioned the unexpected stop.
She nearly stiffened as they came close enough for her to finally assess his state.
“Sakura,” Sasuke murmured, before any word could leave her mouth. His eyes were covered with a sealing black band, all four limbs locked in a pale full-body straitjacket, and it sent her stomach lurching sickeningly.
“Sasuke-kun,” she breathed, touching the metal bars lightly. Soon, she felt angry tears prickling at her eyes.
