Usagi is a reverse Mary Sue.

Naoko put every single one of her worst traits, expanded to the worst 2am could tell her they were, into this poor character, and then wrote about her succeeding anyway. Wrote about the friends who would love her anyway. Wrote about the man who would love her because of it. Wrote about growing in spite of it.

Take that energy with you, kids. If Usagi can make it, so can you. And if you can’t believe in yourself, write yourself into a character and believe in them instead.
