I almost picked Pierre de Fermat as my favourite mathematician, but he was beaten by a narrow margin.
In my opinion, the relative merits of Newton and Leibniz are truly infinitesimal.
Fibonacci is as good as the previous two combined.
Yes, alright, so what - shoot me - I think Galois is the greatest of all time!
Personally, I think Euclid is unparalleled.
I still can't decide how good Gƶdel isā¦
Banach and Tarski are my three favorite mathematicians.

unfortunate that the classic indigo girls song Closer to Fine is rather anti-intellectual lyrically :( note that arguably the most superficially anti-intellectual parts are not necessarily anti-intellectual intrinsically, but only become so when read in context with the alternatives the song presents...like, part of this is fine. this could be fine. it's nearly there! it evokes the complex and intrinsically unfulfillable nature of answer-seeking but doesn't follow through on relating that in all its nuance to intellectual approaches. i could make the rest of it fine! or at least closer to fine.
this post is not a setup for that joke, i just really love the song! and I wish i could fully reconcile the lyrics with my politics and being a mathematician. i could fix her

Yesterday I was anointing the goats that forestall the end of the world with sacred oil when I realised that I mixed up the sacred oil with ordinary canola oil. Perhaps someone should check that the increase of entropy in the cosmos hasn't sped up or anything because of that mixup. I did apply the actual sacred oil later in the day so I hope it is all good.
So, I checked, but I found something weird. Usually when an anointment is missed, there's a small blip, then back to normal. Honestly, no big deal even if you miss a whole day.
But there wasn't any blip at all yesterday. And even weirder, there's an *ongoing* blip that started earlier today.
You said you mixed up the canola oil with the sacred oil. Did you, by any chance, also use the sacred oil in place of the canola oil? Say, when frying something for breakfast?
That would explain the lack of a blip yesterday. You accidentally anointed yourself, and are now, in effect, the sacred goat. Once you self-anoint, re-anointing the goats doesn't do anything. (This is the real reason for the giant-ass anointing gloves, btw. It's not just arcane fashion!)
As such, it looks like you missed anointing yourself today. That's what will have started the ongoing blip.
It's fine seeing as we caught it so early! Just be sure to anoint yourself as soon as possible today, and every day for the rest of your hallowed life.
(P.S. the goats should be just ordinary goats cosmologically, now. Their dreadful bleats will stop being able to redden the moonlight in 4-6 months, but goats that have learned to bleat dreadfully tend not to go back to normal bleats; as far as anyone can tell, they just like the way it sounds.)
That might be the case!
Are we sure it is not possible to transfer this anointed status back to the goats? I really don't want to have to oil myself up every day.....
Also, if I am going to have to listen to those dreadful bleats henceforth anyways it would be nice if they served a purpose.....
Though does this mean my cute catgirl noises will start to redden the moonlight?
So, as I understand it, seals of negentropy are transferred upon death (given the sudden cessation of homeostasis, etc.) or upon sacrificial self-anointment. The food you ate with breakfast (or, more precisely, your digestion and metabolism of it) probably counted as the sacrifice and sealed the deal.
But also, notice how several goats possessed a single distributed seal that transferred to you, and accordingly all of them are now mundane. To transfer it back to them (while remaining alive), youād have to get all of the goats to sacrificially self-anoint at once (which is a rather difficult coordination problem!).
You could also get someone else to guard your seal (i.e. anoint you), then transfer it to themselves voluntarily by sacrificially anointing themselves. This is pretty tricky, thoughāmost people donāt want this task, and you could only really trust other vetted priestesses (who already have a seal to guard), lest someone who actually wants to immanentize the end of the world take on your seal, and then immediately stop anointing.
(This has happened. The Order then has to find and assassinate this person to relieve them of their seal and guard it again. Terrible for everyone involved. Except the assassin, who the Order has to pay handsomely, I guess.)
Or maybe you could try to create a death-like process, in terms of its entropic effects, and that could transfer the sealā¦? Actually, scratch that, thatās completely unofficial speculation, and entropic research should never be conducted without approval from the Order (and Iād lose my crest if I were to suggest it!)ā¦
Once the goats are completely mundane, you can sell themā¦but please make sure you do your due diligence, some people buy dreadful-bleating goats for novelty purposes and donāt treat them very well :(
Deaf goatherds tend to be pretty reputable, though, and have a legitimate reason to buy them: dreadful-bleating goats tend to like each otherās dreadful bleats as well as their own, and so will stay together more easily!
On whether your catgirl noises will start to redden the moonlight nowā¦this is actually one of the most popular questions we see from self-anointed priestesses, for some reason.
The answer is yes. :3

btw, a lean kernel soundness bug was discovered last night (and fixed within an hour and a half, but still)
on the one hand, rough. on the other hand, one step closer to an actually sound kernel for lean's type theory!
personally I have never trusted any software ever so this is not a shock or cause for concern to me tbh, and is already baked into my use of lean :) If only the universe would let us prove that the typechecking algorithm never proves false... though even without that, we can definitely formally prove at least the facts that the kernel code faithfully implements the typechecking rules, which afaik is not done yet (but people are working on it)
