He had his hangouts here and there - depending on where was safest at any given moment. Not that his life was particularly safe… But then again, Simon hadn’t really been given much choice there.

Orphan, abused by his supposed caregivers, left homeless at 18 - what else could he do other than steal to make ends meet? He wasn’t proud of what he did, but it was the only way he had a roof over his head and food in his fridge.

So here he was, having a drink and trying to pretend the crap didn’t exist. Pretend he was a regular guy for once. Living in a world where his passions drove him, rather than his hunger and fear…

It took him a moment to realise he was, essentially, being called out to, pulling him out of his made up reality and turning. A beautiful blonde was watching him, and he had to check there wasn’t another ‘him’ stood behind him, but he was at the end of the bar - no one else there.

“Me? I uh,” he chuckled, sliding a little closer (purely just for volume, no other reason…) and tapping his glass, “I’m a whiskey kinda guy, myself.”

“Whiskey it is.” Tia’s eyes met the bartender’s briefly to confirm that she was indeed placing her order, but then her gaze traveled back to the handsome stranger. She had to remind herself to stay casual; far from an experienced flirt, she hadn’t come out tonight expecting to even see a cute guy--let alone talk to one. She was impossibly impulsive, though, and when opportunity knocked the choice to let it in came easy.

Now that he was standing closer to her, she had to tilt her head back a little to look at his face. When the bartender slid her drink to her from across the counter, she raised the glass to chin-level and toasted, “Cheers.”

She took a sip, smiled and slid onto a bar chair, making herself comfortable. In the hopes of engaging him in further conversation so he would stay and chat a little, she spoke up again, “Good choice.”

The Whiskey, The Liar, The Thief!

     It’s been said that strict parents raise the best liars. And that was true, at least in Tia Bell’s case; she had twenty-three years of training in dishonesty. The only way she could get by in her family’s house with any sense of personal freedom was coming by it through deception and stealth. She behaved in polite society the way her rich, socialite parents approved of, but at night? Well, when polite society retired for the day, she could sneak out and live a completely different life.

     This bar--she had made several friends here over the past couple years of her expanding night life. It wasn’t the finest or most reputable place in town, that was sure, but that was probably what drew her in. She longed for the opposite of her real life, was desperate for the change of pace it provided. And here she didn’t have to meet any expectations; she could define herself.

     Approaching the counter, she paused to consider her choice while the bartender eyed her, ready for her order. Her eyes flickered down the bar and landed on an attractive young man, standing not too far away from herself. She hadn’t seen him before, not that she was familiar with every patron of the place, of course. But he intrigued her enough that she decided almost immediately on an icebreaker to speak with him. The corners of her lips turned up, and she leaned over to call out, just loud enough for him to hear. “I’ll have whatever he recommends.”

relationship status :  i’m in a relationship (coming up on 2 years) favorite color : i have a really hard time choosing favorites, i like a lot of colors, and i think that says more about my personality than if i just decided to say a random color lipstick or chapstick : neither--i don’t wear chapstick, i just stay very well hydrated (and i don’t wear makeup except for very special occasions. pretty much just weddings. and then i wear lipgloss, i don’t like the way lipstick feels) last song i listened to : idk but I’ve been listening to “the whiskey, the liar, the thief” all day for reasons you might find out very shortly (like in my next post) last movie i watched :  i think it was pixar’s soul. i watched it with my mom top three tv shows : friends, the office, and merlin ig? i’m not a big tv watcher, those might be the only shows i’ve watched in their entirety (i mean since i was a kid and was all caught up on the disney channel) top three characters : tinker bell (icon), barbie roberts (inspiration), tiana (role-model) top three ships : tink/terence, barbie/ken and tiana/naveen obviously books i’m currently reading : "solutions and other problems” by allie brosh, “tales from the hinterland” by melissa albert, i’ve been making my way through the nancy drew & hardy boys super mystery series so i just finished one and am starting another but idk the title rn, and i’ve been reading the harry potter series to my bf so we’re on “goblet of fire” now.
