What other people think and say about you is none of your business. The most destructive thing you would ever do is to believe someone else's opinion of you. You have to stop letting other people's opinions control you.
— Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
Closing your eyes isn't going to change anything. Nothing's going to disappear just because you can't see what's going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That's the kind of world we live in. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won't make time stand still.
— Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
ripples go on forever..
I want to get and a tattoo one day of something that honors my story. It may sound shallow but I am proud of who I am, who my parents are and where i come from. Trouble is I don't know what to get. So here is my story maybe I'll find inspiration in it.
I was born in Sept 1995 to a 16 year old teen mom and her boyfriend at the time (my birthdad) was not in the picture when I was born. I was put up for adoption and found my parents 9 months later. Since day one I have been their daughter and that will never change. I was officially adopted in August 5th 1998 (ironically my birth mothers birthday). We moved to Los Angeles and I never really thought about meeting my birth parents unless it was brought up in conversation, because well I already had a mom and dad but I was curious about where I came from other than San Francisco and I was definitely Mexican. I grew up in a French home where my parents were called Maman and Papa. Papa owned his own distribution company and maman worked at another. Well maman got diagnosed with cancer 2009 and passed away in January of 2010. Papa sold his business and we moved back to San Francisco because my dad had a job lined up for him.
In 2016? I put a post on a Facebook group that helped find birthparents of adopted children, I didn't think much of it until a week later I get a message saying that they have found my birth mother and sent me a link to her facebook page. I nervously got in touch with her. We talked and I told her I worked at a local farmers market she stopped by and suprised and now we talk a few times a year.
The story of my talking to my birthday is mostly because my half sister on his side got in contact with me on Facebook because she had my information ( how? I do not know) she then called me and my birth father simultaneously and I spoke to him for the first time.
And now I think I have a partial idea but I'm not sure...
