“ He was sweet, no matter who he talked to. He wasn’t a strange kid, though he wasn’t completely normal either. The ‘why’ just seemed to elude him. ”
can’t remember who requested young Time with warriors since they met in hyrule warriors and then i <<;;; got carried away
Twi’s a dork
Fi can have a little cursed. as a treat
I haven’t posted art in like a month! you know what that means! :D memes!! inspired by that one Skyward Sword side quest :DDD

@lemonlurkrr I had some TP AU thoughts
yes, i do this on purpose. no, i don’t plan to stop. based from this
On childhoods and holding hands
There's gotta be something fun we can do with minish cap and four swords being before the timeline splits and four swords adventure being in the child timeline. Maybe that's why four gets such bad headaches in the portals and its not the colours, his timeline is fucked
How the chain smiles
Time
Smiles rarely, even less so with teeth
Soft, closed mouth smiles
Even when he's laughing, his shoulders shake and you hear him chuckle, but he hides the smile behind his fist.
There's a running bet on if Time has something wrong with his teeth to make him so reserved in his expressions of joy
Warriors has his rupees on a gap. With how wild Time was as a kid during the war, he wouldn't be surprised if Time got a tooth knocked out at some point as an adult
Wind placed his bets on one of Time's teeth being stained, like how his face is stained from the fierce diety mask
Four jokingly said that the group probably just isn't funny enough to get a full smile out of Time, especially after all the grey hairs they've given him. Time gave him a closed mouth smile at that.
Twilight
The exact opposite of his ancestor, Twilight is all teeth when he smiles.
Thanks to the pronounced canines and other changes that came with Wolfie, Twilight feels like his teeth barely fit in his mouth.
In theory, he could help this by letting his jaw hang open a little, but the more natural and better feeling option is to smile frequently.
His face hurt at first from smiling so much, but he's gotten used to now just existing with a perpetual smile or small grin.
When he smiles for real, it's face splitting. Full on, ear to ear, bright as the sun in all his crowded teeth glory.
One of the most comforting things Twilight ever heard after his adventure was from Colin in the village. He told Twilight that he was happy his smile felt just as warm as the day he left, even though it looked a little different.
Twilight holds that comment close to his heart.
Sky
The most normal smile of the bunch
Straight smile, white teeth, but not blindingly so
His smile doesn't change much either, his eyes are what really tell you what kind of smile it is.
If he's smiling at a lover, it's the hearts in his eyes that let you know how soft he's feeling. If he's smirking at an enemy, it's the dark focus in his eyes that let you know he's feeling confident
On the rare occasion that Sky is pissed but can't do anything about it, it's really easy for him to fake being in a good mood. He'll just flash that same ol' lovely smile of his and close his eyes to hide how he's really feeling.
Most of the chain has picked up on this habit and tend to find a way to let Sky take a nap or go cool off when they see a closed eye smile. When Sky can look at them again, they know he's back to feeling better.
Four
Smiles often, but only if he's given a reason to.
Crooked smile, but teeth are straight and white
His nose will scrunch up when he smiles if he's being a menace
His smile also changes a bit when he's split into the colors
The crookedness in Four's smile actually comes from Blue. Blue has a wide, confident grin that pulls up higher on one side than the other. All teeth, all snark.
Red has the most even smile of the colors. It's a wide, beautiful grin that lights up a room, and perfectly stretches from cheek to cheek
Green's smile is relatively even, though it will tend to pull up on one side if he's feeling extra confident or pulling pranks. He claims it's Blue's bad influence physically manifesting
Vio prefers to smile without teeth, though even a closed mouth smile is rare to see. It usually only comes out when he's reading and it's quiet, and silence is a rare luxury when it comes to the colors.
Legend
Legend doesn't smile much. His smile is practically a myth.
But when he does smile?
Blindingly beautiful. It's perfect. Straight, pearly white teeth, even smile, it's positively radiant. It enchants everyone who sees it.
Most people who see it feel their heart skip a beat. Their eyes are blessed.
Ravio once dramatically fainted with a blush at the sight.
If only his grumpy ass would smile more often. The world would feel like a much more beautiful place if he did
Too bad he left his reason to smile back at Koholint.
Hyrule
Hyrule will frequently give soft, closed mouth smiles
He learned pretty early on that looking sweet and polite leads to less danger. People are less likely to be aggressive towards someone actively being nice to them, and people are more inclined to help him if he's friendly looking.
So, Hyrule keeps himself cute, weaponizing his adorable fluffy curls and big hazel eyes by pairing them with a sweet little smile to look harmless.
When he's actually happy though? Smiling genuinely? It's a reminder that he may be sweet, but he is a fierce hero just like the rest of them.
Grins big and bright, a couple off-white snaggle teeth jutting out from behind his lips. Tilts his head back a little subconsciously and straightens his spine.
His real smile looks nothing short of victorious, confidence and radiance rolling off of him. No matter what it was that made him smile, he'll look like he just won a tournament.
One of the safest places in the world is next to a smiling Hyrule. No matter what it is, Hyrule's got this.
Warriors
The easiest smile of the bunch. Pretty, pearly white teeth, straight and even, it looks effortless
It's not effortless in truth, it's practiced to perfection
It's a genuine smile if you can see a dimple in his right cheek.
He's tried for hours in the mirror to figure out which muscle to flex or how to twist his smile to either force or hide his dimple, but he can't figure it out.
Most people in his home hyrule don't know about the dimple. His brothers though?
Everyone in the chain has brought out the dimple at least once. Even Legend
(Legend, in the middle of shit-talking, slipped during a rainstorm and fell ass-first in a puddle of mud. Warriors was doubled over laughing so hard he almost fell in the same puddle. Still counts as Legend earning a dimple)
Wild
Clean white teeth in a straight smile!.... Several teeth are chipped, but don't worry about that!
He really should just be happy he hasn't lost his teeth yet. The fact that he's running around like a maniac, falling off cliffs and landing face first, eating anything that fits in his wok, and has only chipped some teeth is nothing short of a miracle.
His smiles feel the most genuine. Since losing his memories, he hasn't really faced any situations that would warrant faking a smile. With no social expectations bogging him down, he only smiles when he feels like it, and everyone around him can tell it's genuine joy.
He wonders what Mipha would write in her journal if she could see his smile now.
He's learning unfortunately quickly that most people like his smile and that he gets in less trouble when he smiles. Baby's first pretty privilege
Time is the last person to remain immune to Wild's smile. The chain prays that Time can remain strong, otherwise they're all done for.
Wind
His teeth are all different colors.
He's got an adorable, vibrant smile, don't get me wrong, but the effect starts to get lost when you see that half his teeth are a clean white and a couple teeth are a buttery yellow
Baby teeth are falling out and adult teeth are coming in typically from ages 6-13, so some of Wind's teeth have been exposed to pirate standards of dental hygiene for about 7 years, while others are just now joining the party.
Time and Warriors are working on teaching him the importance of dental hygiene because "These are your permanent teeth, Sailor. I know you just grew them, but you need to make these things last for at least half a century. With your habits, you're gonna lose them in a decade"
He started listening after Twilight pointed out that cute girls don't kiss guys with bad breath.
Give him a couple years to course-correct, he'll have a clean mouth and healthy, milky-white teeth by the time his wisdom teeth come in
If you don't mind sharing, what are your headcanons for everyone's ages? We know Wind is 13, "almost 14," and Wild is "117" (tbh I call BS on that, hair doesn't grow that fast, that boy is 118 at least I'll die on this hill), but everyone else is pretty ambiguous. What do you think the Chain's age order is?
I wasn't sure if I had an exact age for each of them when I started thinking about the response, but apparently I do! Buckle up for my favorite big guy, I have a lot to say about him in particular heheh... And the not-so-big guy too. But most of them are just based on vibes, behavior and my own experiences
Time - 32
Obviously the oldest, but not old by any means. He's still quite young, but already an ADULT adult if you know what I mean. As for his mental age, he's not much older imo, he just likes messing with the others. I often see people just adding 7 years to his physical age because of the OoT time jump, but he wasn't a 16-17 year old returned to the body of a 9-10 year old by the end of the game. He was still mentally a kid, which is exactly what makes his story so fucked up. And as for Majora's mask, I don't think he's spent this much time stuck in the three day cycle, certainly not enough to make him a few years older. Now, it is possible that he had used the ocarina again afterwards which would also add to his age, but, well, we don't have any evidence to prove it (at least not yet.. or not that I'm aware of??), so I'm just going with his games. And his Old Man talk™? Great Deku Tree influence. As simple as that
Warriors - 27
Similar to Time, he's already an adult adult, but still young. Being in his late 20s just feels right for him, I don't have much to say here tbh
Twilight - 23
Also no comments here other than 1) he is a little older or "not too far off in age" than Four; 2) he reminds me of a friend of mine who is the same age, so I just assigned it to him subconsciously
Sky - 21
Logic makes me want to make him the same age as Twilight, but he just SEEMS younger than him, I'm not sure how to explain it. It might be because he seems a little less serious than him, but yeah, they're still close in age
Four - 20
I will die on this hill. It feels like a perfect age for Four - still young enough to be a little bit of an idiot, to not want to settle and just explore the world instead, but old enough to have this emotional maturity and (slight) sense of responsibility that he's got. I also like to think that he was at the peak of puberty (16-17) during the FSA events, because if going against everyone and constantly arguing with yourself isn't a perfect metaphor for that age - I don't know what is. Another thing I wanna mention is that I saw people saying him being offended by being called a kid is what makes him younger in their eyes, but as a young adult who's constantly mistaken for a 11-12 year old I want to say - it was really annoying at 16 and it doesn't stop being annoying in your early 20s
Wild - 19 (well, 119)
I agree with you about Wild's age, he just doesn't seem 17 to me at all, and tbh in my eyes he wasn't even 17 during the events of BotW. HOWEVER, the way I think about it is that he just... doesn't know/forgets how much time has passed since he woke up? I guess at some point he remembered or found out how old he was, and later he just couldn't be bothered to count
Legend and Hyrule - 17
The recent update. I rest my case
And then there's Wind, who is such a 13-14 year old that I just don't have anything else to say
It always cracks me up when LU fics go “Time blinked (winked?)” like it never gets old for me it’s so funny bc he’s definitely the type to wink with his good eye and it just looks like he’s blinking.
Writing prompt: The chain needs information from some local lord or noble, and have to infiltrate a party Bond style to get it. They can’t share their identities- they learned that people here really don’t like heroes for some reason after an unfortunate incident in one of the towns- and so they impersonate nobles of distant lands (Holodrum, Termina, Ordona, etc) to infiltrate the party. The goal of the night is to get information out of the lord of the castle, and it turns into a competition for the chain.
Warriors is in his prime element. He may be a soldier, but he’s also spent a lot of time around nobility and governors and knows how to play this game. He talks people up, flirts, and introduces himself to everyone and quickly becomes the talk of the party. Which is really unfortunate, because almost all the targets put up their guard around him because Warriors is acting exactly like the type of person who would swindle information out of you. It also didn’t help that the wine at this party was way stronger than he’s used to. He ends the night (probably definitely drunk) in the chain’s room in the inn with nothing to show for it except some really intricate knowledge about the nobility and a few blood oaths that everyone forgets about in the morning.
Legend and Sky also introduce themselves well into this environment. Both of them have experience in this area, and they generally know the customs and respect they’re supposed to show. They talk to people, introduce themselves, give the formalities. Unfortunately, there’s one inescapable truth: neither of them wants to be here. At all. Legend hates these parties and hates politicians in general, while Sky is uncomfortable because he only went to these parties with Sun and doesn’t know how to enjoy it by himself. They don’t get much by the end of the night.
Twilight and Time are not in their prime environment. Twilight was a ranch hand whose only experience in noble parties was the one (one) party Dusk forced him to go to, and he managed to run out the back door by transforming into wolfy. Time is a little better, but he’s also a kid who was raised in the forest, went adventuring, and then lived on a ranch for most of his life, and he pretty much avoided anything related to this despite being a knight himself. Both of them linger awkwardly in the corner, talking to each other or the occasional passerby, and both get distracted after joining a card game. both of them end the night with nothing.
Wind and Hyrule have pretty much the same luck. Hyrule has never experienced anything like this in his life, so this is all a new experience he’s trying to grapple with and why are so many people talking to him. Wind has a little more luck, he basically becomes the youngest cousin who entertains people with his stories and jokes, and he soon becomes the life of the party right next to Warriors. Hyrule gets a little bit of info; he’s just inconspicuous enough for people to talk without noticing him, and he scores a few bits of info. Wind manages about the same by people making subtle jokes and suggestions to him, and he’s able to cleverly piece a few things together.
The real winners of the night: Four and Wild.
People can tell how smart Four is, but they don’t realize how tricky he is (He’s basically four minds in one after all). He practically grew up in these types of parties being best friends with Zelda, and is able to figure out what he’s supposed to do instantly, integrating himself into the party and inserting himself into conversations seamlessly. He’s also able to subtly trick people into telling him important things without even realizing it, and by the end of the night he has the entire scheme pieced together.
Wild fairs just as well for a different reason; he woke up with amnesia, and spent most of his remembered life trying to piece together social customs and how he should act (plus he has all the memories and muscle memory on how to act from pre-calamity wild, which helps). Within minutes he’s able to fit perfectly into the party, acting normal and letting people put their guard down around him. By the end of the night he’s gotten info from seven earls and two lords, and is basically tied with Four for how much info he got about the scheme. He also has a few promises of assistance from nobles who genuinely believed he was the son of a lord from the Faron region (even though they definitely didn’t know what that was)
by the end of the night, Wild and Four had the most info, Wind has become the adopted grandson of three elderly noblewomen, Hyrule, Legend, and Sky are exhausted and take twelve hour naps, Time and Twilight are on the verge of drinking, and Warriors is being carried back to the inn by two nobles he’s sworn a blood oath to
Nostalgia poem time (or, one I've posted already)
We lost our innocence When we won a war We lost our hopes and dreams Now they’re filled with blood and gore We’ve played the demon’s game And the only rule is spite So we’ll muster courage up Raise our shields and dare to fight.
I raised above my own Lives of those I love and left I raised my prayers skyward With the Goddesses I pled Grant me hope and grant me safety Let me never lack a friend For this journey, it be lonely And this sorrow needs to end.
I put down sense of self Shrunk my nature with my body I put away my ego Split in four to go stop Vaati Now I’m solid and I’m stable And I’ve seen what Light can do Now I won’t drown in the darkness When it’s time to look for you.
I let my friends all go Time and time again I left them I let the world grow crooked There were always consequences There’s monsters we won’t see until We’re standing in the night And the darkness holds a menace When my futures are all blights.
I saved the people ‘round Never thought of not attempting I saved mementos, items Stock and storage never-ending There’s no reason and no purpose Beyond ‘kill and kill again’ But I excel at causing problems I’ll escape it in the end.
I run from shadows sometimes There’s no shelter from the night I run from monsters often Haste my steps into the Light For all the times I’ve ran I’d think To feel some sort of shame But my heart, it won’t be burdened Won’t be shattered, won’t be chained.
I feel a strange sadness as The twilight turns to night I feel a quiet settle Through my bones that I can't fight There's a calm that comes from knowing There are others have my back And I seek the feeling even As I look for who I lack.
I sense a stiff wind coming Fit to blow a man aground I sense a wave and rolling Grow your sea legs ‘fore you’re drowned The Seas and Winds are fickle, see But they love me best I’m happy long’s I feel the breeze Feel it move at my behest.
I know I’m not the problem Just the logical response I know I’m good at hiding Masking panicked, frantic thoughts From my flesh and to my good name I have lost and lost and lost It’s not enough to win the battle For the war I’ll pay the cost.
I think and then I’m running Racing fear to the next mile I think and then I’m blanking My brain’s a maze’s a trial I’ve been blessed and I’ve been chosen Though I can’t recall the choice But I don’t want to remember Where I am right here is nice.
We fight for those who love us Futures free from fear and hiding We fight to keep our hope up That we’ll go back to our right time We’ve played the demon’s game And his wager’s what we’ll gain We’ve lost our innocence But Goddesses, we won’t lose faith.
(I made this from 1-4:40 AM after seeing a funny reel and wanting to edit Linked Universe onto it help-)
I know this isn’t exactly fitting to the characters but four can be so polite, honest and mature so I thought he’d fit. I put Father Time in the dad role because of his young prankster soul, but also since I can totally see him trying to convince the younger members of the chain to have as much joy and maybe some mischief in their childhood years and do chaotic things with them, since he never got that. No one tell Warriors…. 👀
Here’s the original video that inspired me
Whenever I want to write Four I come back to your art to get his vibe just right. In your work, Four has this maturity to him that must be hard to capture. He doesn't look like a child, he's just a small man, but at least not a kid. Your version of him is the only one I enjoy. Thank you for gifting us with your talents!!
Four is such an interesting and complicated character, it makes me really happy that you like my portrayal of him and that it helps you write him. He does seem like a grown adult man to me, even if a young one. He's still a Link, he can be stupidly reckless or silly at times, but it's those small moment when he decides to stay serious instead of goofing around that make him so mature in my eyes. I also really like this type of characters (serious and quiet with a pinch of mischief y'all see why I'm so obsessed with Time as well), which probably helps me capture his personality just the way I want. So yeah, once again, glad you're enjoying, and I'm ready to provide more >:)
Silly LU Headcanon: How Time Became Group Dad
No one in the Chain saw Time as a father figure (except Twilight, bc Time’s his literal ancestor) for the first bit of their journey. A leader and a wise man, sure, but not a father.
And then they all met Malon. Every single one of them immediately decided that she is Mom.
And if Mom is married to Time and has only ever been married to Time, then that means Time is Dad by default. The boys had an entire logical discussion and debate about this on the Ranch, and this was what they decided.
Time and Malon are both still unaware they have been crowned Dad and Mom, but Malon strongly suspects.😂
