Hi!!! Doing a bit of an overhaul on my intro since I really haven’t updated it much.

Current Interests: Sonic the Hedgehog, The Amazing Digital Circus, SMG4, Psychonauts, Project Sekai, Vocaloid, Invader Zim, Undertale/Deltarune, bunch of other stuff that’s also floating in the back of my mind waiting for a turn in the front!

So, g/t has been a concept I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. I’ve always related to tiny characters, and watching them interact with other people and the world around them was something that I wished I could experience. But sadly, I was not born as a fairy or a borrower, so all I can do is imagine it!

But yeah, I was really excited when I discovered the existence of the g/t community a few years back and realized I wasn’t the only person who liked this concept, and slowly but surely, it changed my life in a pretty positive way! I’ve met some really awesome people, written some (mostly unfinished) stories, and found a place where I can be unapologetically myself.

This was a fic that I only ever wrote one chapter for. It’s an AU where Irkens are tiny, and Zim crash lands on Earth but loses his memories, so he ends up befriending Dib because he doesn’t remember he was sent to Earth to destroy it. So it’s pretty much The Iron Giant but with a little guy instead of a big guy. But there’s only one chapter, and I honestly don’t think I’ll finish it.

An OC fic about my character, Bek. She is a Lumin, a race of tiny aliens that glow, and her planet was conquered by the Irken Empire. She’s been on the run for a while, and ends up taking refuge on Earth, disguising herself as a human by transforming her ship into a robotic mech suit. She, of course, goes to skool and meets Zim, and the moment she finds out he’s an Irken she wants him dead. Didn’t get very far with this one either, no idea if I’ll ever go back to it.

Into the PAK

A very angsty fic that I only posted on AO3. It also only has two chapters, but maybe it’s for the best because I was very depressed when I wrote it. Dib is a miserable college kid and Zim discovers his whole life is a lie, and through a series of events, Dib gets shrunk and ends up watching Zim’s memories through a recording inside his PAK, and he learns about Zim’s past and they finally acknowledge that they have similar trauma and bond over it.

Petal in the Audience

One of my longest works besides Borrowed Family, and even though it wasn’t that long ago since I last worked on this story I honestly kind of forgot about it. Kind of a shame ‘cause I liked it, just not sure what I should do with it going forward. Most of the chapters are on Tumblr but I moved it to AO3 and continued it on there since it wasn’t getting much traction here. Anyway, it’s about Petal, a teenage borrower who has grown up watching the friendship between the two human siblings who live in her house and their friend who lives in the neighborhood and frequently visits. Petal sees them as her friends even though she hasn’t revealed herself to them for safety reasons, though in reality, her relationship to them is more like a spectator watching a show. Of course, that all changes when she ends up meeting them for real.

The lights in the Mecha Crab were dim.

I got up from my seat and flew to Lumi, hugging her tight. I wasn’t in pain anymore. Or if I was, I couldn’t feel it. It didn’t matter. Not if Lumi and I were together again.

“Lumi! I’m so glad you’re okay! I was worried I’d never see you again!”

She hugged back, though her arms barely touched me. Maybe she was worried about hurting me on accident.

“I was worried about you too. I heard about what happened with Metal Sonic…”

I could already hear a shift in her tone as she said his name. I couldn’t blame her, though. Out of context, what happened DID sound pretty bad.

“I’m okay, really. It was an accident, and totally my bad. I shouldn’t have flown out in front of him like that. But look, we’re all okay now, so we can go home!”

Lumi paused for a minute, her expression dead serious. Then, she took a deep breath and spoke in a deadpan tone.

“Which home?”

The lights flickered on.

Comet was so happy to see me. Too happy. Like they hadn’t been completely traumatized by this experience. Another red flag.

I saw the fear in their eyes when I asked my question. That was all I needed to know what their answer was.

“Comet… I know you were involved with Starryland somehow. I just… I just wanna know HOW involved you were. I’m upset, but I know you. I know you’d never mean to hurt anyone. So just… tell me whose idea it was. Was it Eggman? My Mom? Both of them?”

They looked behind me at Sage and Metal for reassurance. Those two, of all people. Then, they responded.

“It was my idea.”

I shook my head, sighing. I wanted to believe it was a lie. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time Comet took the blame for something to protect someone else. That was part of why Mom never liked them when we were kids. Every time I did something bad, Comet swept in and covered from me, even if I never asked them to. They were so loyal and selfless. Of course they would do this.

“Comet, it’s okay. You can tell me the truth. Whoever it is you’re trying to protect… they took advantage of you. It’ll take a lot of time to explain, but I’m sure we can work this out once we get Sonic back and go back home. To our REAL home.”

To my surprise, they actually looked irritated.

“I just told you, it was my idea.”

I let out a nervous laugh. “C’mon, quit playing around. I know you. You wouldn’t do this.”

They folded their arms. “Oh yeah? And what makes you the expert on what I would and wouldn’t do?”

The lights flickered off.

I could say without a doubt that the Starryland Lumi had been fully erased. All of her memories were back. I had expected her to be angrier. To hate me. I thought I would break down crying as she told me she never wanted to see me again. I thought that would be the worst case scenario.

This was somehow much, much worse.

She denied my ability to think and make decisions for myself. She was convinced everything I did had to be the result of manipulation, and not the genuine hurt I felt when she left me. I was incapable of doing anything that didn’t align with her.

“H-Hey, I didn’t say that. It’s just, we’ve known each other since we were kids, and I know you’re a good person and would never mean to hurt anyone.”

I scoffed. “Yeah. But before I fixed the world, you hadn’t seen or spoken to me since we were ten.”

The condescending sweetness quickly faded from her.

“I’m sorry, ‘fixed’? You call what you did ‘fixing’? Outside of that theme park, our world is in complete shambles! Not only that, Blaze and Silver told me if we don’t get Sonic back and restore the original timeline, our universe will rip itself apart! You didn’t fix anything, you just forced everyone into an unstable fantasy!”

“Fine. If that’s what you wanna call it, then yes, that’s what I did. But did you ever stop to think about WHY I did it? Or do you think so little of me that you only ever chalked it up to ‘poor, stupid little Comet doesn’t know what they’re getting into’? Because believe me, I wouldn’t have done ANY of this if you’d given a crap about me in the first place! Tell me, after you ran off with Sonic, did you ever stop and think about the rest of us on the island ONCE?!”

The lights flickered on.

Comet’s words stung, because they weren’t exactly wrong. I did want to go back to Starry Island and try to resolve things, but I kept my distance in fear of what would happen if I went back. It was a deeply traumatizing place that I wasn’t ready to return to alone.

But Comet was also alone.

“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to leave you behind. I have no excuse for that. But believe me, Sonic and I always intended to come back for everyone.”

They shook their head. “Right. It all goes back to Sonic, doesn’t it? The Speed Demon. He’s your real best friend. Forget about everything we had, you ran off with him and didn’t look back at the first chance you got!“

I was trying so hard to be patient. I didn’t want to fight with them. I really didn’t. But they were making it harder and harder to keep my composure by the minute.

“Sonic is important to me. But that doesn’t mean you’re not. And he’s not a Speed Demon. If you’d just trusted me, let me come back on my own terms, taken the time to get to know him, I guarantee you could’ve been friends. But instead, you went and did this. Just… I just don’t get it, Comet. What possessed you to do this? What made you think ANY of this was okay? You tore so many families apart just so you could have me all to yourself! It wasn’t just me, your actions affected everyone and it doesn’t even seem like you care!”

The lights flickered off.

This. This was really getting to me.

“Okay, and what was I supposed to do? Sit around and wait indefinitely for you to come back? How was I supposed to know that you would? It doesn’t exactly help that everyone around me was calling you a traitor, which I never believed, by the way! I did trust you, Lumi. I waited for you. I vouched for you. I hoped and prayed that it was all lies. That Sonic wasn’t using you and you’d come back and things would finally be normal again. And I did it all because you were everything to me! You were all I had after my Mom left! You stuck by me when no one else would! I thought for sure you felt the same way, but now I see just how little I mattered to you! I wasn’t your friend… Just some sad little fix-it project you took on so you could feel better about yourself!”

It happened so fast. Right as I’d finished speaking, Lumi slapped me across the face. I stumbled back, holding my hand to my cheek and staring into her eyes.

The lights flickered on.

I stared at my own hand in horror. Why did I do that? They were making me angry, sure, but I’d never hit anyone before. Especially not someone who I considered to be my friend.

“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”

Comet didn’t let me finish as they delivered a strong punch, making my nose bleed. The shock on their face had worn off and had been replaced with silent rage. They were unrecognizable to me.

“Whoa, whoa, hey, time out, guys! Things are getting pretty heated right now. Why don’t we all take a breather and try and talk this out in a more constructive way?”

I could appreciate Tails trying to keep the peace, but we were far beyond that point. They wouldn’t listen.

Comet stood in silence for a solid minute, then they spoke in a chilling tone.

“You have an emerald, don’t you? That’s how you got here by yourself.”

I took a step back. “And? Why are you bringing it up?”

They abruptly lunged at me, pulling the Sol Emerald out of my pockets and holding it up triumphantly.

“BECAUSE WE’RE GOING HOME!!”

I tackled them right back, grabbing the emerald. They held onto it tight, so we pulled on it back and forth, desperately trying to get it away from the other.

“Comet, stop that immediately. The Sol Emeralds are not to be toyed with-”

“STAY OUT OF THIS, SAGE!!”

I kept a strong hold on the emerald, focusing as hard as I possibly could within my agitated state to locate Sonic. I knew I didn’t stand a chance. Not even Blaze was able to find him with her own precious gems. But in this moment, more than ever before, I needed to have my brother back.

The emerald started to glow with a blinding light. Comet gasped but still wouldn’t let go.

“Lumi?! What are you-?!”

In a flash, we were gone. Everyone from the previous world was left behind, including Sage and Metal Sonic. It was just us.

Us and a barren wasteland.

I thought the state of our home world was bad, but this was so much worse. It didn’t even look like it had been devastated by Eggman. There wasn’t any pollution, nor was there a sign of any of his facilities. Just dark skies and wide, open space.

“L-Lumi? Where did you take us?”

I continued to scan the area to see if there were any signs of life around.

I came to immediately regret that decision.

A horrific black and red abomination unlike anything I’d seen before suddenly pounced out of nowhere, looming over us as it growled hungrily.

“WHAT IS THAT THING?!”

I wrapped my arm around Comet and flew off with them just before the monster’s jaws could snap shut around us. We both flapped our wings as hard as we could, the creature giving chase. There was no way we’d be able to outrun it.

“W-Where do we go?! Lumi, I don’t wanna die!”

“We won’t. Just keep flying.”

I… wasn’t actually sure if we would make it. But I also wasn’t one to subscribe to a defeatist mindset. I had to keep flying. Keep fighting until my very last breath. It was what Sonic would do.

We went on in a straight line, no place to take shelter in sight. I could feel myself running out of steam with each passing second. Still, I carried on. I refused to go out like this.

Suddenly, something snatched us, and we both screamed and clung to each other. Despite everything, we were each other’s only source of comfort in this moment.

“I-I can’t look! Are we being eaten?!”

My antennae brushed against the thing that grabbed us. It felt like fabric. Gloves.

“No, I don’t think so. Wait a minute…”

I opened my eyes. It was still too dark to see clearly, but there was a familiarity to this. I’d been held by these hands many times before.

I squirmed a little until I got closer to the chest we were clutched to. Soft fur. Rapid heart rate. It had to be him. But I’d already come across so many. The likelihood that this was the one I knew was very slim. Yet at the same time, there was something different. An instinctive feeling that was certain this was my brother.

We came to a sudden stop. Sonic opened his hands, revealing he had taken cover with us in some sort of underground bunker. He took a minute to catch his breath, then flashed an exhausted smile.

“Good to have you back, Lumes. Who’s your friend?”

Shadow stood before us, not saying a word. Clearly he was the one behind these attacks, but I couldn’t figure out why.

The Shadow I knew was distant and brooding, but he wasn’t overly violent. At least, not that I was aware of. Something was wrong.

Sonic, of course, was the first to speak up.

“Hey! Why do you look like me?”

Shadow huffed. “I don’t look like you, you look like me. Why do you look like me?”

“I dunno! But could you maybe stop smashing up cars before someone gets hurt? Also, have you seen any evil robots around lately?”

“I don’t have time for this. If you value your life, stay out of my way.”

Knuckles chuckled. “Is that a challenge?”

“Uh, Knux? Maybe don’t-”

Sonic couldn’t even finish speaking before the echidna lunged at Shadow, who evaded him by teleporting out of the way, only to reappear and kick Tails in the head. Something in me snapped upon seeing that.

“Hey, don’t attack the kid! He didn’t even say anything to you!”

Shadow disappeared again, and before I could look for where he went, I felt a fist close around me. I gritted my teeth as I looked up at him, stone cold and unamused.

“L-Look, I know this probably doesn’t mean anything to you, but in another world we’re friends! Kinda…”

He chucked me at the ground, Sonic zipping by and catching me at the last second before I hit the concrete.

“Whew! That was close! What the heck, man?! You almost killed her!”

Shadow walked off towards a motorcycle and climbed on it. “I told you to stay out of my way. All you’re accomplishing is wasting my time. Now leave me alone.”

He drove off, Sonic watching him with razor sharp focus.

“I’m gonna follow him and make sure he doesn’t hurt anybody else. Tails, Knux, stay with Lumi and help her find her friend. I’ll catch up with you guys later. This shouldn’t take too long!”

With that, he ran off after the motorcycle. From what I knew about Sonic and Shadow, they were on pretty equal footing. I wasn’t too worried. Though, it still concerned me that Shadow was acting this way. Was the one I knew ever like this?

Tails scanned the area with a small electronic device, then checked the results on the screen.

“Okay! I think I’ve got a location on the two robots. It looks like they’re… oh no, what are they doing at a Chao Garden? I hope they’re not wrecking the place!”

I remembered hearing about Chao Gardens before. I’d never visited one before, though I definitely wanted to. They sounded like such peaceful places. The thought of Metal and Sage terrorizing one made me sick.

“We’d better go before it’s too late.”

Tails led the way to the Chao Garden. Instead of an actual garden, we arrived at a building with a big sign on it displaying an image of a Chao.

When we went inside, we were greeted with some sort of themed restaurant. Apparently, this dimension’s definition of a “Chao Garden” was very different from mine.

Everything appeared to be normal. No one was screaming or panicking, and performers in mascot costumes were singing onstage to entertain everyone. It didn’t look like the robots had been through there at all.

Then, I spotted them.

They were seated at a table in the corner. Right away, I noticed something was different about Metal. He was taller than before, and appeared even more threatening. I narrowed my eyes as I watched them from a distance.

Sage was shaking her head, looking frustrated, while Metal picked apart an empty foam cup and attempted to stick the pieces on the tips of his claws, only to repeatedly break through them.

I pointed my antennae towards their table to see if I could hear what was going on.

“Are you done with that yet?”

“They are far too sharp. We need to bring Lumi back alive.”

“I already told you, I can handle her. We can’t afford to waste any more time.”

Metal ignored her, poking through another piece of foam. Sage sighed.

“Look. I understand that the accident upset you, but Comet is okay. Besides, after this is over, we won’t be seeing them again. There is no reason to safeguard yourself for someone you will no longer be in contact with.”

Metal nodded. “I understand.”

Sage’s voice took on an almost sad tone. “I’m going to miss them, too. But they are too dangerous of a loose end to keep around.”

I growled from my place on Tails’ shoulder. What did she mean by that? And why were she and Metal talking as if they cared about Comet if they intended to get rid of them?

I couldn’t stand back and listen anymore. Without giving it a second thought, I flew across the restaurant and landed on their table. They both were taken aback by how abruptly I approached them.

“Where’s Comet?! What are you doing to them?!”

Sage clamped her hands around me before I could fly away.

“They are safe, Lumi. This will all be over soon enough.”

I tried to struggle free. Confronting them alone really wasn’t the best idea.

Then, suddenly, Metal Sonic was knocked aside from behind. Knuckles managed to sneak up on him and give him a good punch in the head.

He took on a triumphant stance, only for him to jump back and scream when he noticed Sage. Tails walked up beside Knuckles and scanned her with his device.

“She’s not a ghost, Knuckles. She’s some sort of hologram.”

The echidna raised his fists but still stayed at a distance from her.

“D-Doesn’t matter! Unhand her, you beast!”

Sage said nothing as Metal moved in and punched both of them just as hard as Knuckles hit him.

Right. Silver mentioned that Metal was able to copy his powers when they fought back on the darker Mobius. If he was somehow able to replicate telekinesis, it wasn’t a stretch of the imagination for him to copy brute strength.

“Hey! Leave them alone!”

Just as Metal was about to hit them again, Sage motioned for him to stop.

“We have no further business with them. It is time to-”

She was cut off as several drones flooded into the building and started firing at us. She held me close and teleported behind Metal for cover. Tails and Knuckles quickly followed her.

“Hey! Those look like Robotnik’s drones! But… how?”

“The more important question is why he would send his drones after us. Even if he were to betray us, this dimension’s Dr. Robotnik seems… less active.”

Metal snatched two approaching drones out of the air and threw them across the room, triggering an explosion that blew a hole in the wall.

Outside, someone pulled up on a motorcycle and began tapping away at something on their wrist. Suddenly, all of the drones were disabled. Before we could question them, Sonic rushed up beside them.

“I heard an explosion! What’s going on?!”

The cyclist pulled their helmet off, revealing themself to be a man I didn’t recognize. Everyone else seemed surprised to see him, though.

“The Goat Milker!”

I stared at Knuckles for a solid minute. I was missing a LOT of context.

“What are you doing here, Agent Stone? Did you send these drones after my friends?! Did you release that edgelord hedgehog on the city?!”

The man sighed. “No. Those drones were Robotnik’s tech, but we didn’t send them. Somebody stole them, and presumably used them to bust out that spiky nuisance. I’m here to take back what belongs to him. And… I need your help. We both wanna get that hedgehog off the streets, right?”

Sonic sighed. “Right.”

Stone then turned his attention to Sage and smiled.

“Oh, hey, you got her? Good job, kiddo!”

The stoic hologram girl smiled back at him.

“Thank you.”

Sonic ran over, standing beside us.

“Uh, no, not ‘good job’! Kidnapping people is bad!”

An argument broke out between everyone. I couldn’t even discern what was being said, but it reached a point where I’d had enough of it.

“CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING?!”

Everyone went silent, and I took a deep breath. I really hated having this many eyes on me, but this had to be done.

“I have been through one nightmare after another and gotten no closer to saving my friends! I’m tired, I’m stressed, and I just want all of this to be over! So if you guys have Comet and can take me to them, then I’ll go with you. Just know that this is not my surrender. I WILL keep fighting, and Blaze and Silver WILL find me, so don’t bother trying anything, got it?!”

Sonic nodded. “In that case, Stone, we’re definitely going with you. As much as the thought of working with Robotnik makes me wanna barf, I’m not leaving Lumi alone with you and your creepy robo-kids.”

Of course, Tails and Knuckles were ready and willing to come with us as well, despite the echidna’s lingering wariness towards Sage. So we all followed Agent Stone as he led us to the ocean. At the push of a button, a gigantic clawed robot emerged from beneath the waves.

I froze at the sight of it. I’d never seen a robot that huge before. Just imagining the level of destruction it was capable of was terrifying enough. I didn’t want to see it in action.

Thankfully, I didn’t have to. The mech’s primary purpose was actually transportation.

A hatch opened up and we went inside. What we found was the last thing I expected.

This dimension’s Robotnik was a complete mess. His hair was overgrown, and he was lounging and watching TV while eating junk food.

And right beside him was Comet doing the exact same thing.

“Comet! You’re here! You’re… uh, what are you doing?”

They didn’t turn around. They didn’t look away from the screen as they stuffed their face.

“Not now, Lumi, my show’s on.”

I was relieved to see them alive and not in horrific pain, but at the same time irritated at how dismissive they were. Though, it did hit them after a few seconds as they went into a violent coughing fit and turned around to look at me.

Their eyes widened, an expression on their face that confused me. They looked happy to see me, but also somewhat afraid. Why would they be afraid? And why were they hanging out with Robotnik so casually? He was evil, they had to know-

They didn’t. That was a piece I’d forgotten. In the new reality without Sonic, Comet and I remained inseparable. But in my memories of the original timeline, that wasn’t the case. After I left, Comet was still on Starry Island. Still being subjected to the propaganda.

It all made sense.

That was why Sage and Metal seemed almost attached to them in a way. They weren’t a prisoner at all. They were an ally.

Silver was right. I should’ve listened to him.

But I was still gonna try and get through to them. I knew Comet. They had a good heart. They were just being manipulated. I could bring them back to their senses. I had to.

I couldn’t lose them again.

Puzzles would be an absolutely terrifying giant to deal with. yes yes I'm normal g/t posting for the first time in forever.

But with how unstable he is, I think it would be scary as hell to be in a position where you're that vulnerable around him. He's extremely bipolar, so you have no IDEA what he's going to do or say. And his abilities are horrifyingly overpowered. He's capable of brainwashing and literally shooting lightning from his fingertips.

Also, from the few clips we see of him in his giant form interacting with smaller characters, he is NOTT gentle. truthfully, I believe that even if he wanted to be delicate with someone, he wouldn't do it very well. If anything, he seems like the type to dangle someone upside-down by their leg(s), or carelessly shove them into his pocket

Slapping myself on the wrist rn because I forgot to mention that this fic is set between episodes 4 and 5. It doesn't change much, but it does explain Caine and Pomni's attitudes about adventures.

I am so sorry for the wait! I stopped this one at 2.4k words, I'm writing shorter but more frequent chapters so I don't burn myself out.

Also, if you've read chapter 2 before I edited it before posting this, you'll notice I removed the teasing for this chapter to have tickling. For that, I am sorry, I have no idea why I even teased it, I do NOT want to write tickling. Anyway, I'll stop yapping now, here's chapter 3!

Pomni didn’t snuggle any closer, she had gone completely still. Her breathing had deepened and slowed as she finally fell asleep. Caine took a deep breath, or a mimicry of one, to keep himself from fidgeting, his jaws closing with a click.

The room fell into a still, comfortable silence. Pomni remained fast asleep, she’d released her grip on the suit, her hands now lying flat atop it. She wasn’t one to wriggle in her sleep, looking almost lifeless with how limp and peaceful she was. Caine however, wasn’t so still, his legs shifting slightly on the mattress. He urged to feel her more, pin her to him with his hands. Not to trap her, he wouldn’t, but to be able to truly shower her with all the affection rushing through his system. Fingers twitching, he forced himself to take another deep breath and steady his hands, not wanting to wake her. In truth, he hadn’t seen her so peaceful before, or peaceful at all for that matter. In her short time in the circus, she’d almost always been on edge. She was adapting fairly quickly, far faster than any of the others had, but the nervous energy surrounding newcomers still haunted her. However, she was literally sleeping on top of him, fully relaxed and looking truly at peace for the first time since entering the circus. She’d looked him in the eyes in their conversation leading up to the situation, she had been so willing to reciprocate his affection. But most significant of all, she was happy, at peace and well and truly trusted someone. Caine’s jaws opened slightly as he peeked down at her resting form. His pupils began to enlarge as he realised, he’d been able to make her feel happy, make her feel safe.

Caine’s finger shifted, about to pet her head when he stilled. Just one of her fingers moved, a little twitch, but it became evident that any touch could wake her. Caine’s hands tensed in an effort to cease their twitching, before going limp once again. He worried that he could accidentally put her on edge again if he were to wake her, that she’d want to leave his side and go back to being a nervous wreck.

I can’t ruin this.

He resisted squeezing her lovingly or petting her, instead attempting to match her and fall asleep. He took longer than Pomni to drift off, his thoughts slowly but surely relaxing from a whirlwind of questions and suggestions to a gentle breeze of occasional adventure ideas and memories. Caine’s jaws slowly closed again as finally, he managed to drift off.

There was a soft clicking sound as Caine slightly parted his jaws, closed them again before opening them fully. For a moment, he just stared at the ceiling above, pupils flickering across the corners of the room. Slowly, his eyes drifted down to the person still resting on his chest. He lifted his head a little to get a better look at her. She was shifting slightly, her legs lightly kicking against him as she began to stir. Her eyes fluttered open, quickly finding Caine’s. With a push of her hands, she pulled herself onto her knees before flopping back down again, limbs spread out.

Pomni felt the gentle rumble of Caine chuckling beneath her. It was strange, it reminded her of how colossal he was compared to her shrunken self, how much power he could inflict with just one flick of a finger, but chose to be gentle anyway. His size and power didn’t frighten her at all, if anything it was incredibly soothing. The weight atop her was removed as Caine lifted his hands away from her resting body, dropping them to lay on the bed on either side of him. It was one of those naps where you can tell a general idea of how much time has passed, but can’t be sure.

‘The others will probably be up by now.’ Caine stated plainly.

Pomni slowly lifted her head from his chest to look up at his eyes. Caine laid his head back on the pillow. One of his fingers found Pomni’s head, starting to gently scratch her cheek.

‘As much as I’d like to stay here.’ Caine started, and for a moment he looked like he wanted to cuddle her close until she fell asleep again. ‘However, I am really looking forward to showing you all today’s adventure, I’ve been cooking this one up for a while.’

Pomni sighed, she knew she wasn’t getting out of going. Caine was so passionate about them, being his pride and joy. Plus, she hadn’t hated the last one, the fast food adventure, secretly hoping this one would be similar, more grounded in reality.

‘What’s this one going to be about?’ She asked, her voice small and tired.

‘Ah-ah! That’s a surprise, my dear!’ He exclaimed, wagging a finger.

Pomni felt a set of gloved fingers wrap around her with such gentleness that for a moment, she thought she considered cuddling up to them and falling back asleep. She knew she couldn’t, Caine was awake now, and had an adventure in mind. Opening his fingers, he allowed her to sit in his palm once he had sat up. She blinked a few times and rubbed her eyes to wipe away the remnants of sleep. Before she could finish, Caine swooped in with a finger and lightly pushed her hands away from her face. Pomni grimaced in confusion, but before she could question him, his fingertip delicately rubbed her closed eyelids and around them, rubbing her eyes for her. An amused smile appeared on Pomni’s face as she giggled and pushed his finger away, leaning away from it.

‘Caine, you don’t need to do that!’ She insisted, releasing his finger as he pulled it away. ‘My dear, I’m only trying to care for you, you’re still sleepy!’ He exclaimed happily, gesturing with his free hand.

He still seemed eager to send Pomni on an adventure with the others, but seemed to hesitate, his eyes drifting from her and his upper jaw arching slightly.

‘Can we do this again sometime? Maybe tonight? Or lat-’ Caine caught himself, gulping before continuing. ‘Or in a couple days time, wh-whenever you’d like.’

Pomni smiled up at him. ‘How about tonight? I could use something like this after I’m wiped out from the adventure.’ Caine’s eyes lit up and he sat up straight. ‘Yes, tonight is good, absolutely!’

With one last rub on the head, Caine placed her onto his shoulder, closing one side of his jaw in a kind of wink. He teleported both of them to the main tent area. The world lurched violently and Pomni had to grip onto the fabric of his suit for stability. Suddenly, they were hovering above and behind the lounging area where Gangle, Zooble and Jax were sitting. A small distance away, Ragatha and Kinger could be seen discussing something, Ragatha leaning down to talk to Kinger from outside his pillow fort. Pomni felt herself being gently pinched between two fingers as Caine lifted her from his shoulder. She was held precariously in the air before she was set her down on the floor. With a click of his fingers, she returned to her normal size. She wrapped her arms around herself and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to resist vomiting from both the sudden teleportation and transformation.

‘Still getting used to teleportations, huh?’ Caine chuckled, patting her on the back.

‘Ugh…’ Poor Pomni was only just recovering. With one last warm smile at Caine, she took a deep breath and walked in front of the sofas. She strolled to a one, plopping down next to Gangle. When she looked at Caine, he teleported himself away, disappearing into a puff of smoke as usual. He’d be back soon, he never left them alone for long when an adventure had been promised.

To her left, Gangle smiled at her, giving her a little wave with her ribbon arm. She still had her comedy mask on and intact.

‘Morning.’ Greeted Pomni, returning the smile.

A familiar, teasing voice came from the other sofa. ‘Caine had to drag you out of bed himself, huh?’

Pomni held her breath for a moment. She knew she couldn’t reveal the real reason Caine had bought her here himself, she’d never hear the end of it from Jax.

‘Yeah, I slept in.’ She lied, crossing her arms lightly.

Jax rolled his eyes, but seemed content with her response, leaning back on the sofa and folding his arms behind his head.

‘You’re up late, it’s me that Caine usually has to drag out of their room by the ear..’ Stated Zooble. ‘I-I let myself sleep in! I didn’t think Caine would actually come and get me.’ She stammered, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck. Quickly changing the subject, she turned to look at Gangle, who had her sketchpad clutched in her ribbon hands.

‘What are you uh…drawing this morning?’ Gangle didn’t respond verbally, she just tilted the sketchpad so Pomni could see. On the page was a sketch of an anime girl. The drawing was pretty, clearly having taken inspiration from visually appealing mangas and animes.

Pomni nodded, a small smile appearing on her face. Gangle pulled the sketchpad back to herself, a bashful smile on her mask. Using her pencil, she started to draw cat ears atop the girl’s head, the pencil making a small scratching and dragging sound across the page. For a moment, there was silence, even Jax didn’t have anything to say. Pomni’s thoughts started to drift. Although Caine had disappeared, the fresh memory of his hands wrapped around her lingered. They had been so gentle, so loving, Pomni caught herself imagining later, when Caine would engulf her again with her presence, whe-

‘H-hey Pomni?’ Came the wobbly voice to her left. Pomni snapped her head in her direction, pulled out of her thoughts.

‘Hm?’

Gangle wrapped her arms around her sketchpad, holding it to her chest.

‘I was the first to go to bed last night, a-and I accidentally left my sketchbook here.’ She looked away shyly before continuing. ‘Did you see anyone…pick it up, or look through it, or anything?'

Pomni tilted her head. ‘I don’t think s-’ She froze, remembering Caine saying he had been given ‘inspiration’ from Gangle. Did he mean the sketchpad? ‘Inspiration’ could’ve meant Caine talking to Gangle, or overhearing a conversation…or possibly him looking through her sketchpad.

‘I don’t know, I don’t think I did.’ She gulped. ‘Wh-why’d you ask?’

‘I found it open on a page, this page.’ Her ribbon hands held the edge of the pages, she flicked through them until she reached the desired one. She tilted it to allow Pomni to see.

Pomni’s eyes widened. On the page was two mannequins, one giant and one tiny, cuddling,

Gangle quickly pulled the pad to her chest again, looking away with embarrassment. ‘Sorry, that one’s weird, I know.’

Pomni blinked in surprise.

Oh, this was definitely what Caine meant.

Zooble leaned over, gently tilting the sketchpad to take a look. ‘Hey, that’s not weird.’ ‘Huh?’ ‘You shouldn’t be ashamed for drawing what you like.’

Pomni tilted it towards herself, leaning in and eyeing the drawing. The piece consisted of a mannequin with a much tinier one lying upon its chest, the giant one resting their hand atop them. Eyes widening in surprise, she pulled the sketchpad a little closer to herself, after all, that was exactly what Caine had done with her, the memory making her feel warm and fuzzy.

‘D-Do you…like it?’ Pomni didn’t respond for a moment, biting her lip in contemplation. She did like it, something about the portrayed dynamic pulled her in.Gangle would be embarrassed if she knew Caine had looked through her drawings. She decided to keep her mouth shut about it for the time being. ‘I do.’ She looked up at Gangle. ‘It’s cute.’

Gangle sat up straight, a wide, wobbly smile growing on her face as she giggled. Her voice was a little louder than normal, a little more confident.

Gangle slowly sank back into the sofa, slowly placing her sketchpad down next to her. She continued to look at Pomni, lifting her ribbon hands and fiddling them together, a nervous tick she did on the daily.

‘Do you like…’ She started, looking down and then slowly tilting her mask to look back up at Pomni. She leaned in, and lowered her voice to a mutter.

‘Do you like…um…the difference?’

‘In their size?’ Gangle suddenly tensed.

‘Yeah! It’s part of this niche called…’ Gangle’s whole body seemed to be fidgeting now. Pomni tilted her head. ‘This niche called-’

‘Are my wonderful weasels ready for an adventure?!’

Caine had appeared, hovering above the lounging area, hands on his hips as he stared down at them. Everyone had flinched from his booming voice, Jax’s ears stood upright in surprise. Gangle yelped in surprise, Zooble just rolling their eyes at Caine’s sudden appearance.

‘Well, are ya ready? I sure hope you are, because I’ve been working on this adventure for quite some time now, hours, days, even weeks!’

One of Jax’s rabbit ears flicks as he looks up at Caine.

‘What’s this one abo-’

‘Hush, hush! The magnificent contents of this adventure is a surprise!’

As per usual, the colourful, swirling portal materialised nearby. With a huff, Zooble pulled themselves off the sofa and dragged themselves towards the portal. The others followed behind, with Pomni at the back of the line. Once everyone had passed through the portal except for her, Caine quickly grabbed her by the arm before she could walk out of his reach. He lowered to her level, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her in. The side of his jaws pressed against her cheek in a sudden but loving embrace.

‘And you, my charming little honey bee! Have fun, I’ll see you later!’ He exclaimed. Pomni chuckled at his affectionate antics, a small blush creeping onto her face. ‘I’ll see you later, Caine.’

With that, Pomni closed the distance between herself and the portal, causing it to close as she walked through. Caine remained floating, gripping onto his cane in his hands that were shaking slightly from excitement and nerves.
