Magnolias are so ancient plants that almost every other plant and insect who came to being around the same time as them has gone extinct by now. They are the loneliest plants in this world. Does anybody understand how much grief it gives me that the symbolic flower of Kuras is magnolia.
reminded me of dinosaurs smelled magnolias by dalton day!
i am climbing a magnolia tree & you are telling me that magnolia trees existed before bees did which means that dinosaurs smelled magnolias & that maybe that was the last scent a dinosaur smelled before it all went bad & dark & bad & when i am safely in the tree you put your hands together in the shape of a bowl or a magnolia & that is where i would like to sleep & so i do & so i do.
Egg and Spoon by Gregory Maguire
“The doctor pulls back his pointing finger and grasps his own hands, makes a loose fist the size of his heart, the size of a Firebird’s egg, and pumps it a few inches at them, for emphasis. They know what he is saying, they hear it without words, they understand his instructions to them. The same thing Elena’s father said to her in the starry crown, and what Baba Yaga will say to Nikolai, come summer.
Live your life.
Live your life.
Live your life.”

[ID: the "they don't know" meme. the people dancing are labeled "everyone referring to gregory maguire just as 'the author of wicked'" while the guy in the corner thinks "they don't know about the kids' book about a train carrying the Russian royalty getting stuck in a starving peasant town and so the princess and peasant girl become friends and it's normal historical fiction for fully 200 pages until Baba Yaga shows up and tries to eat them and it only spirals from there". End ID.]

How do you process grief?
by running from it until it finds me in the middle of a sunny street on a beautiful day

It would be cool if when I die people I love could paint flowers on my coffin, like a little painting party at my funeral. And then I could sleep in a bed of flowers.
poem
“Such an ordinary sight, thirteen people walk by, hardly giving her a glance as if she were a rabbit dead in a field, or an old dog who died by the fire. Just another piece of drek on the cobbles to be taken away by the garbage collector. Three hundred calories a day, such rations could not sustain a growing child, so she stopped growing. Her feet, her legs, her face stiff and cold like pavement, and as gray. This child who once danced about in her mother’s kitchen, a bit of afikomen in her hand, the four questions so lately in her mouth. Dance, little Hannahleh, Chaya, Gittel, Rachael. Whatever your name was when you were alive, dance on the streets of Heaven, for you shall never dance here again.”
written by Jane Yolen, in her book: Mapping the Bones
hi!!! idk you but a thing that helps me when i don’t feel great is looking at the people or things around me and choosing one thing i like about them in my head! if you’re out in a public place you can look at the people around you, and if you’re alone choose something like the nature, the sky, or the things in your house!! complementing people is sooo good for everyone! kindness is a trait we are born with and a trait we can never forget
