‘Whiskey, like a beautiful woman, demands appreciation. You gaze first, then it’s time to drink.’
Haruki Murakami
cherish.
cherish what you have when you have it because it won’t always be there or in that way.
instead of embodying jealousy or ambivalence, practice free love and pure appreciation.
you will feel much better and at peace about losing said item/relationship having known you had spent more time cherishing the window it took place in your life than testing it with negativity—your own insecurities and fears personified.
i have come to learn that acceptance of the impermanences in life is quite difficult for most people.
people look for longevity and seek a “forever”. as a consumer, we value quality. as a lover, we stress trust.
as a primitive quality, humans have always sought after the best chances of survival in hopes that their tribe will grow the biggest and strongest for longest.
but, we no longer live in such a barbaric world. we have the luxury of practicing mental/emotional strength and inner peace.
these virtues are first and foremost achieved through the acceptance of the fact that all things in life are temporary, even life itself.
once we come to terms with this truth, we will finally be able to begin cherishing the world around us and live a happier life, full of joy and appreciation.
