Doodle dump!! Figure drawing + sketchbook stuffs.
Figuring out a character for an action sequence... this is going to be so much fun.
My favorite classical station did a John Williams tribute hour the other morning... Rolling up to campus blasting Raiders, followed by Star Wars, was the best way to start the day!!
PS - Shout out to Ferris Bueller when the two valet guys are going for a joyride in Cameron’s wheels.
Gestures! All of these drawings were based on a model. The kitties were for a lesson on extrapolation (taking the idea/emotion behind the model & translating that with an animal), and then the bottom two pages were drawn with a story in mind. The first one was a magician who’s terrible at her job & then succeeds, and the bottom one I’m not even sure where I went with that... a woman from the 1700′s who’s heart is broken, gets bit by a vampire, turns in to one, and then is also a sorceress?
(Sidenote: my gestures lately have been for Louis Gonzales & Alex Woo’s awesome class, which you can find on schoolism.com! )
Someone at Trader Joe’s is an evil genius.
Working on a story set in the 1930′s about two guys, a girl, and jetpacks. Did some exploratory sketches & realized this guy looks like a flying Ghostbuster. Egon Spengler, particularly.
Last week my new computer bit the dust mid-assignment & took my files with it. Most logical solution at the time... Try not to panic, down a pizza for three, drink some wine while chatting with Apple care, and take a deep breath before starting the assignment over again on my old computer.
Sketches from the Natural History Museum of LA! (Amongst some random old thumbnail sketches.) I had a blast drawing that llama, and picked up a rad t-shirt.
Ah HA! MORE figure drawing!!
Done with chalk and oil pastels, trying to keep them quick at 30 sec & longest being 2 min.
Rough explorations and (super rough) thumbs for my first year film. It’s been fun to get the ideas out of my head, on to paper, and to see where they go.
Film study of ‘Gravity’!! Such a beautiful movie. When I was a kid I wanted to be an artist or an astronaut when I grew up. Since I can’t actually go to space, I would love to make a short film about it at some point.
Some quick little environment thumbs.
This happened last semester... inadvertently pulled an all-nighter & didn’t come prepared with a change of clothes. Of course I’d run into the random good looking guy I had just met the night before, looking like a hobo obsessed with coffee.
I love figure drawing with costumes, 1 - 2 min sketches.
More figure drawing fun! The middle page was done with a feather that we whittled in class to use as an ink pen.
Bottom page is 30 sec - 1 min, and the rest are 1 - 2 min.
Gesture drawing!! I think top was 30 sec, and the rest range between 1 - 2 min.
