Kale Chips for Dummies
Welcome to my very first cooking entry in a food only blog!
Here is the best part: I'm really not a great cook! So when I nail something, I feel like I'm ON TOP OF THE WORLD. And when I screw up, I'll be the first to share with you so you can learn what NEVER to do (e.g. see my recipe to The Worst Chia Seed Pudding In The World).
For the last few days, I've been snowed in. My little car won't make it out of my driveway and my pomeranians who almost resemble that HHR of mine are too busy lounging around to pull me around town. I suppose they aren't actually huskies, afterall, but I digress...
I wanted kale. I wanted warm and crispy and salty greens and after browsing probably 3045 kale chip recipes on Pinterest, I dove in. I began with a complex recipe including tahini and maple syrup and some other ingredient that I had never heard of and also did not have...and they were...not at all as I hoped.
Then I remembered: when it doubt, simplify it, you dummy.
So then I remembered someone who made it so easy for me...a product that was the perfect seasoning for anyone who had no idea about seasonings...Karenz Krazy Salt.
Now. If you are anything like me...no professional training, find it difficult to follow recipes exactly because you are sure you know better only to find out that you don't and would prefer a salt lick over anything else...you need one single product that does everything...and salty!
So that's what I did. I used only Karenz Krazy Salt (salt & pepper variety), EVOO and Kale! Here's how!
Preheat oven to 300*. Meanwhile, rinse and dry kale. Devein and rip into "chip" size. Lay across baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle Karenz Krazy Salt on top...whether it be the Salt & Pepper flavor, Original or even the MSG FREE version!
Pop in heated oven. Check after ten minutes and turn over. Replace in oven and check periodically to desired crispiness! (Mine was perfect after 16 minutes!)
Indulge in your perfectly healthy snack. Mine washed down well with a cold beer!
Enjoy and stay warm!
