Kale chips. Boy, I did not enjoy these. I mean, first of all, let’s not call them chips. That’s a lie. It’s just dried leaves. Second of all, let’s just leave kale in smoothies, mkay? It’s healthier fresh, anyway...🙄

Traveling Snacks
Do you ever get the craving to just crunch on something even when you’re not hungry? Or find yourself reaching for a bag of potato or tortilla chips when you’d rather munch on a healthier snack? These cravings are what drew me to seaweed snacks, particularly when I’m on a full-day road trip and just eating because I’m bored of being behind the wheel.
Although I quickly developed a love for…

Oven Dried Kale
Chinese new year is a great excuse to have a party. This is a great snack for the occasion, I will be serving this at my CNY supper club tomorrow night.
I wanted to say happy new year to everyone and I hope the year of the monkey is a great year for you.
This is a healthy version of the so called chinese seaweed you find in chinese restaurants. Kale being a superfood, makes a great snack. For those who don’t like cabbage will surely be converted. For all these years you thought it was seaweed anyway.
I’ve tried many recipes and with trial and error. I believe I found a foolproof way to make it perfect every time.
Recipe
200g / 8oz cut kale (remove any thick stalky bits)
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
¼ tsp onion salt
¼ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp caster sugar or any sugar syrup
1 tbsp rapeseed or any flavourless cooking oil
Pre-heat oven at 140C / 275F / Gas mark 1.
The secret to preserving the the green colour and keeping it crisp is to make sure the kale is dry before it gets baked in the oven. You can use kitchen paper or clean tea towels and then leave to air dry until virtually dry to touch. If the kale in baked wet it the leaves will turn brown and not stay dry when stored.
Place in a large baking tray. At this stage you can add all the seasonings and oil and massage evenly into the kale with bare hands.
Bake for 10 minutes and stir kale for even cooking, bake a further 10 minutes and stir again, leave another 5-10 minutes to fully dry out. You will notice the kale will shrink to a quarter of what you started with. So don’t over season as it.
Taste to check seasoning and add more salt and sugar if necessary.
It will keep for about 4 days in an airtight container.
Got some fresh kale from my backyard and baked it in the oven with some garlic salt and some Parmesan cheese :3

Kale Chips for Dummies
Welcome to my very first cooking entry in a food only blog!
Here is the best part: I'm really not a great cook! So when I nail something, I feel like I'm ON TOP OF THE WORLD. And when I screw up, I'll be the first to share with you so you can learn what NEVER to do (e.g. see my recipe to The Worst Chia Seed Pudding In The World).
For the last few days, I've been snowed in. My little car won't make it out of my driveway and my pomeranians who almost resemble that HHR of mine are too busy lounging around to pull me around town. I suppose they aren't actually huskies, afterall, but I digress...
I wanted kale. I wanted warm and crispy and salty greens and after browsing probably 3045 kale chip recipes on Pinterest, I dove in. I began with a complex recipe including tahini and maple syrup and some other ingredient that I had never heard of and also did not have...and they were...not at all as I hoped.
Then I remembered: when it doubt, simplify it, you dummy.
So then I remembered someone who made it so easy for me...a product that was the perfect seasoning for anyone who had no idea about seasonings...Karenz Krazy Salt.
Now. If you are anything like me...no professional training, find it difficult to follow recipes exactly because you are sure you know better only to find out that you don't and would prefer a salt lick over anything else...you need one single product that does everything...and salty!
So that's what I did. I used only Karenz Krazy Salt (salt & pepper variety), EVOO and Kale! Here's how!
Preheat oven to 300*. Meanwhile, rinse and dry kale. Devein and rip into "chip" size. Lay across baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle Karenz Krazy Salt on top...whether it be the Salt & Pepper flavor, Original or even the MSG FREE version!
Pop in heated oven. Check after ten minutes and turn over. Replace in oven and check periodically to desired crispiness! (Mine was perfect after 16 minutes!)
Indulge in your perfectly healthy snack. Mine washed down well with a cold beer!
Enjoy and stay warm!

After much trial and error, I finally have a delicious recipe for CRISPY kale chips. I have learned that slow and steady wins the race! Try out these simple, delicious, kale chips to satisfy the salty chip desires, but get the wonderful benefits of kale! Ingredients: 1/3 a bag of Kale
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon olive oil
Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Place enough kale on the baking tray to cover the tray in an even layer. This was about 1/3 of the bag I had purchased. Make sure the ribs and stems are gone from the kale.
3. Use a paper towel or dish towel to press down on the kale and remove any excess water! The drier the kale, the crispier the chip!
4. Toss the salt and olive oil on the kale and bake it for 20 min! 5. Enjoy your guilt free munching!
