“YOOOOOOOO MAN! Help a monster out, I gotta charge my jam before my world FADES to grey, ya hear what I’m throwing down?!”
It’s kind of hard to hear when your internalized MP3 system directly hooks up to your audio receptors– a custom modification to the android he’d created himself, but was still very much in need of tinkering. Optics flickering twice, the flash of blue out of the corner of Andy’s eye had him glancing up from his Metashop project at the lunch table and pausing his tunes. A series of unfortunate circumstances for Holt Hyde, to be sure. Slightly autotuned words chimed up apologetically, though certainly too late. “ Sorry– couldn’t hear you over Skullex. Did you need something? “
“Man you gotta help a monster ou… no, no…!”
The battery died. Holt could feel the color draining from the room, from the new kid’s outfit fade out like the end of a music track.
Jackson blinked and looked up at whoever was before him. OK, he was in the creepeteria, his iCoffin was dead, and he was with…
“Sorry um,” He adjusted his bag, “Are you new to Monster High? It’s nice to meet you.”
For a moment, the synthetic manster was stunned by the swapping display. Setting down the Phillips screwdriver he’d been using for general modifications to the miniature automobile, a spark of curiosity lit up his eyes– curiosity, but not disgust. No, this seemed more like…delight? If the unfamiliar student didn’t have his attention before, he certainly did now. “ That…was super next gen, “ he half-laughed, half grinned. The noise came out more of a mechanical process than anything. “ I didn’t think I’d see a human…er, ‘normie’?…go full-fledged transformer for at least…another few decades, with current mainstream advancement. What chemical process…” He suddenly fell silent as he realized what he was doing. Nuts and bolts. There he was, processing data like a PC again. Whoops. A dull teal glow of light bloomed under the mechanical teen’s synth skin, and he ruffled his hair, managing to look sheepish. “ …Sorry! I’ve got a bad habit of not leaving the Lab Talk back at the Lab. I’m kinda new, yeah! Visited a while ago via exchange out of Horrorjuku, Japan, before relocating to the States. The name’s Andrew Droide– nice to meet you. I didn’t catch yours…? “
“Jackson Jekyll,” He introduced. He didn’t understand what he meant by Transformer (that was what normies liked, right?) but he understood lab completely clear.
“Nice to meet you too Andrew. And did you say lab? My dad is a mad scientist, but his specialty is potions and chemicals.”
Andy lit up– in the most literal sense. The neon streaks in his fiber optic hair and optic sensors took up a glow. Jekyll…Jekyll…? Why did that name chime an alert with him? It was definitely one he’d heard before. He’d have to look it up on the A.I.nternet later. Fact checking could wait! “ Yeah! Heh, that makes two of us; my Crea– “ he paused, redirecting himself. “ –er, rather, Momster is a mad scientist as well. She’s a robotics and artificial intelligence specialist…though that’s kinda obvious, huh? “ From his bookbag, there was a soft squeak of protest– apparently, someone inside didn’t care for all of the noise. After a moment of wiggling, an albino rat, modified with cybernetics, appeared and scurried up the back of Andy’s shirt to perch on his shoulder. Jointed fingers moved to give the little beast a scratch behind the ears. “ She did all of the work on me and Nanobyte here. …Or, most if it, anyhow. I do my own modifications. …And the occasional explosion, but, it wouldn’t be mad science without one, am I right? “
Jackson nodded and chuckled, sitting down with the new manster and his cyber mouse friend. At least mom packed his lurch box today. He hoped for mac and cheese~
“Toadally,” He agreed, “Unless something mutates or goes horribly wrong, where’s the fun? It’s just trial and error. And Nanobyte looks very well made!”
Nanobyte sniffed greedily at the air, pointed nose and crimson gaze making a direct arrow for Jackson’s lurch box. It didn’t go unnoticed though– the android managed to scoop him up before he could prepare an assault on the cheesy goodness. “ Oh no. Not today, young explorer. We both know you’ll gorge yourself on cheddar until you get sick, and besides– this isn’t yours. Why don’t you go bother Gory’s fanged feline instead, hmm? Get your fill of dramatics there. “ Honest to bolts, the rat seemed to huff at him, as if it understood what he was saying. With much reluctance, he scurried off for the day. That done, Andy turned his attention back to Jackson. “ Fright! The occasional call to the Dire Department is just a hazard of the subject, “ he agreed. “ And thanks!! “ The synthetic paused, gaze going to his work. One could almost hear the ‘ ding! ‘ of a lightbulb go off. “ Hey, Jackson…maybe your next-level Chemistry ties could help me. I’m trying to make a miniature monster truck for Metalshop– but had to scrap the original booprints. I wanted to make it rocket-powered, buuuut…” He winced, deadpanning. “ Heath sometimes helps out during that class. Scary rad guy, but he’s…got a mad habit of accidental pyrotechnics. I need an alternate source of force, and electricity is only fun if you get to play with lightning. Any ideas? “
“He’s… my cousin, so I know what you mean,” He felt bad for Andrew. Of course he’d help! Not to make up for Heath being… well, Heath, but because of mad science and friendship!
“Hm… no electricity, no fires… have you considered using ice? If you can make it powered off low temperatures, like a car battery made from a huge ice cube. Part of mad science’s fun is being well… mad!”
“ Ah. I take it from Blue’s side of the family? “ he asked, before putting his hands up in a gesture of passiveness. “ No worries– you toadally don’t need to explain if you don’t want to. Somemonster’s alternate self can be a touchy subject– trust me, I know. “ Idly, his fingers seemed to go to the dog tags laced around his neck, and for a moment, his glow seemed to die down a bit. Seemed there was some some unpleasantness there. Clearing his throat, he forcibly brightened. “ –Anyhow. Ice, huh? I hadn’t even considered ice. Generally we electronic types don’t get along with water. “ Andy paused, throwing up the same holoscreen from his forearm he had earlier to pause the the tunes. Within a moment, a blueprint of a scary cool monster mini appeared. “ I’d have to move some parts around, buuut…I think it’s do-able.” He flashed the chemist a grin and offered a fist bump. “ Thanks, Jackson– you’re scary brilliant. “
Jackson wondered what he meant by that, seeing him touch those dog tags. Did he know someone with a manster inside of them also? He pushed the thought to the back of his head.
“Hey, anytime Andrew. It’s cruel having someone interested in mad science like I am,” He said with a smile, “You need an extra pair of hands? One that doesn’t make things combust on contact?”
Glad for the change in subject taking root, the robotic teen nodded. “ That’d be tech-cellent. I’ll meet you in the science hallway after school-- sound good? “ Lunch in the Creepateria went on pretty uneventful after that-- the synthetic letting his ( hopefully ) new friend finish up his meal in peace. He spent the time catching up on Clawculus, having re-charged his energy stores the period before in his window seat in History. The scream of the bell in the hallway marked the end of the period, and with the rest of the student bodies, the android moved toward the hallways. In the crowd, it was easy to get tripped up-- so many monsters with different bits and appendages sticking out to lose your balance on. So it was that Andy stumbled-- and ended up throwing a shoulder into Manny Taur. There was a great gust of breath as the minotaur snorted, hoof scuffing the tile as he whirled upon what he considered a challenge.

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER. Tagged by: @wickedbadwolf
– BASICS. NAME: Dri PRONOUNS: He/Him or They/Them SEXUALITY: Pansexual Panromatic TAKEN OR SINGLE: Taken and very much loved, but poly.
– THREE FACTS. i. I’m a practicing witch, non-affiliated with any one faith. I only preform what is considered ‘ White Magick ‘ ( magic without the intent of harm or destruction ), with a personal creed of ‘ never use your magic for anything you could accomplish by punching someone in the face ‘. I’m especially good at protection and calming spells. ii. I’ve been writing since my pre-teen years, and my passion for literature is life-long. I hope to some day become an accomplished author, and largely dabble in the Modern Fantasy/Horror genres ( with a little Steampunk on the side ). iii. I’m a huge audiophile, and I have a bad habit of making playlists for literally everything. That being said, I’ve been known to do a little voice acting of my own from time to time ( notably as Karkat Vantas from Homestuck, and Peridot from Steven Universe ).
– EXPERIENCE. HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): 12 years or so? I’m 24 now, so about half my life. PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: Tumblr, Gaiaonline, Skype, AIM, IMVU, Deviantart, Roleplay Aminos, Neopets wayyy back in the day.
– MUSE PREFERENCES. FEMALE OR MALE: I tend to write best as male or non-binary characters, but I have a handful of females I use.
FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: All of the above, though I have little chill in any of these areas. I’m especially notorious for dropping angst bombs on my friends. I regret nothing.
PLOTS OR MEMES: Both, definitely!! Sometimes you don’t have the energy to plot, and that’s when memes become useful tools ( or just good grounds for shenanigans ).
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: My replies tend to be on the longer side, because I am a wordy motherfucker who likes to use descriptive text. However, I’d like to think I’m a pretty casual roleplayer, and while I expect some literacy from my partners, I don’t mind smaller replies. -w-
BEST TIME TO WRITE: Either evening or late at night. I’m a night owl-- I’m not really awake until the sun sets. Being a chronic insomniac doesn’t much help.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): In certain aspects, definitely-- but we’re all individual people. OC’s are often imbued with different fractals of their writer’s personality/viewpoints/life experiences. So they’re little pieces of self given new form as something completely different. Tagging: Whoever feels like doing this.~

"Hey! Watch it!"
– The rockstar had chosen some -very- poor timing to bump into him, heading into school. The cycle racer had been removing his helmet, rumpling his undercut to rid himself of any helmet hair, when the minor collision caused him to bump into his all-time favorite creation; his hovercycle. Immediately, his attention went to the vehicle– scanning it for scratches, dents, loss of paint. Luckily, the force of his titanium hadn’t done much damage. More of out reflex than need, he cooled his processors with a deep breath. “ Watch it yourself, “ he grumbled.
“Excuse me?”
Uh oh, Ember heard that, fire in her eyes as she floated back to the bot.
“Do you got any idea who you’re messing with you bucket of bolts?” Bad enough she’s stuck in this damn school with… teachers, of all things.
But this techno-dork wasn’t gonna give her sass, “I’m a rock idol dammit!”
“ Listen, I didn’t glitch, did I? “ The robotic teen didn’t seem to bat an eyelid at her display of aggression. This was someone who was either too stupid to known who he was dealing with– or too confident in his own abilities to be intimidated. Either way, he didn’t seem particularly impressed. “ I don’t scare who you are or how you spend your afterlife afterschool. But while I’m here? I don’t have to put up with anyone’s imput except Bloodgood’s. Including yours. “ The bell rung, signaling the 5 minute mark before class. Shouldering his back, he moved right past the spectral musician, up the steps to the infamous high school. “ I’ve got bigger circuts to fry. Later.~ “

-- “ Oh! Thanks-- I installed it myself, “ Andrew chimed. As if on cue, the neon pieces of it lit up with an electric glow, fueled by his energy core. Seemed as if the automaton was pretty go-with-the-flow for a manster made of metal. Not bothered by her outburst at all. He flashed her a grin. “ Yours is pretty boltageous too-- I’ve always thought bright colors were next-level. “
