Toa Zhara of Lightning.

Unfortunately her blue parts didn't show up well in this lighting, but they are there. She's my tallest Toa, though maybe not the largest overall (mass/width). I used the Hero Factory figure Von Nebula as a base, which is why she has do many black parts. I wanted to try using the bohrok faceplate piece VN used as armor as chestplates and a belly.

Picked up the key to ny apartment today. Moving in tomorrow... I'm already exhausted today. This should be... fun.

I do like it, though. Going to be interesting figuring out where to put things.

I kind of want to make another big and bulky Toa, using Hero Factory's Von Nebula as a base. I'm thinking use his "back of the neck" plates as chest plates, and maybe use parts from Oonorahk for a lower gut plate.

I also want to give Nidhiki more humanoid legs and maybe arms, I've got the green Vahki I can use for parts.

This would leave me with four Rahkshi, the blue Vahki, and two Bohrok Kal intact from my original/official sets

Observation: of my unique G1 Dragonoid-family Bakugan (Excluding Helios, Wavern/Naga, and Apollonir), most of them are Pyrus, followed by Darkus and Subterra. None are Aquos/Haos/Ventus.

Pyrus: Neo Drago Vortex, Commandix Drago, Battalix Drago, Neo Drago Maximus, Sky&Gaia Drago, Turbine Drago, Quake Drago

Darkus: Chance Drago, Iron Drago, Infinity Drago, Dartaak (Dart Drago), Spin Drago

Subterra: Ultra Drago Typhoon, Blitz Drago

I've got the kind of tired going on that makes me feel depressed. Wheeee.

What do you think, should my partner bakugan be one that's unique in my collection?

I suppose "unique" needs to be defined.

I'm thinking it would have to be something that is a distinct species separate from the rest of my collection, a one-off type (i.e., Orbit Helios is a distinct species of the Helios genus. I only have one Orbit Helios in my collection, though I have quite a few Helioses)

Then that begs the question. Is, for example, Turbine Hades a distinct species from Hades, even though they are incredibly similar? Or is that a subspecies? Technically, I have one Turbine Hades, two normal Hades, and two Myriad Hades. Hades and Myriad Hades would be different species, but would Turbine Hades effectively be Hades hades turbina, as a subspecies of Hades Hades. (Myriad Hades could be H. myriades under this nomenclature)

Or Alpha Percival would be Percival alpha, while Alpha Percival Cyclone would be P. alpha cyclo.

What I mean is: is a Special Attack version of a Bakugan that was released originally as a non-Special Attack Bakugan considered different? If no, that narrows it down a little bit.

Hold on, now I'm trying to think of a whole taxionomic system for Bakugan, at least the ones from G1. More on that some other time.

Anyway, back to original point: should my partner Bakugan be something that I have only one version of that specific species?

Something slightly silly and important in no way: the attribute symbol on my Haos Primo Vulcan is rotated ~144° clockwise. The Haos symbol is a five-pointed star, with a ring connecting the ends of the star and a structure in the center. The central structure is like a circle with three equidistant bites taken out. The cut-outs are arranged on in the top, one bottom right, one bottom left.

This thing. See how the top cutout perfectly aligns with the top point, as opposed to the slight misalignment on the bottom sides? On Primo Vulcan, those are pointing to the bottom right instead of top. So the outer structure of the star is fine, but the center is misaligned.

Now I wonder how many of my Haos bakugan have this QC issue. Subterra and Aquos' symbols are both vertically and horizontally symmetrical, Pyrus, Darkus, and Ventus are just vertically symmetrical, but Haos appears to be radially symmetrical without closer inspection.

The idea of dragons in modern times is so fun because imagine a hot summer day on your vacay and go to use the hotel pool and staff is like "valued guests we regret to inform you that the pool area is out of service at the moment, we apologize for the inconvenience"

And people like "wtf why" looking out their hotel room window and there's this. This dragon just curled up in the pool chilling, literally, cooling itself down

Some of the staff are trying to gently shoo him away and the dragon does a soft little "rrrrrr" like a grumpy cat and a warning puff of smoke and they're like "fuck it i don't get paid nearly enough for this" and no ones using the pool today sorry!

There's a Bakugan live action movie that's been in the works for a while now, the most recent iteration announced in February 2025. If so, that's probably around the time that Bakugan gen 4 happens, considering the 2023 G3 was cancelled so early.

I decided to join in the Tennocon art showcase last Sunday because I'm insane and thought I could paint something good in less than a week. And wouldn't ya know it, I was right? Here's my eldritch wife!

One weird thing G3 of Bakugan did with the toyline (other than hybridize with Beyblade but that'sfor another time) is in regard to Titanium Evolution.

So in the show, Gold and Titanium Evolutions are manually-activated power ups. Gold gets you weapons, Titanium armor. Both of these are represented in the Special Attack type of Bakugan (the ones with the flywheels and ripcords).

However, for some reason, Titanium Evolution were also released as standalone, non-Special Attack Bakugan. From what I can tell, the artwork is either the same (black Titanium Dragonoid, black B.A.M. Boost Titanium Special Attack Dragonoid) or depicts the same character (green Titanium Trox and green Titanium Special Attack Trox) in a different pose.

Both Cyberworld Galvatron and Megatron (the bull one) can have a semi-beast mode, by simply not transforming the legs. This results in a minotaur for Megatron or... just a different dragon mode for Galvatron. I think Snarl uses the same fundamental engineering, and thus also as a semi-steggo mode.

Uniquely, because of the wingpack and tail, Galvatron can stand upright (in terms of legs, not torso) fairly well, but for Megs you have to sorta make him squat to shift his center of balance. Snarl might be in the middle. Snarl's plates and tail will probably put him more like Galvatron.
