I was thought Starfire was tan rather than orange (depends on the clip I guess) but even so, she has huge green eyes. Give a green eyed white girl a bad spray tan and there you go. Only Caucasians have green eyes or red hair so what's the issue?

1) why bother with a spray tanned white person when you could have somebody that actually has naturally darker skin? why go to these lengths to avoid casting a person of colour in such a prominent role?

2) you dont have to be white to have green eyes and red hair

Starfire is an orange-ish alien gal that no one from earth could accurately represent

yeah ok but she ESPECIALLY couldnt be accurately represented by a white person

for the Friends ask Beast Boy- Joey Starfire- Pheobe Cyborg- Chandler Robin- Monica and i don't think any of them would match raven well

nice!! i know that somebody reblogged that ask and had raven as rachel, but other than that (+ having ross as robin), it was pretty much the same as yours. thx for sending in ur thoughts :)

how do you color your gifs?

here’s a quick and crappy explanation complete w pictures. i hope it helps!!

the original:

step one: selective colour. i usually always play around with the reds, yellows and greens if it’s a picture of starfire; since the background in this is purple, i also tweaked the magentas and blues to make it a little bit prettier

step two: curves. i pretty much always use the same amount of curves for all of my gifs

step three: white colour fill set on overlay, 10% opacity. i don’t actually do this for every gif i make but, since this scene is dark, i thought it’d help brighten it up

step four: brightness and contrast. this just makes it look nicer imo? i never use too much brightness since i’ve already lightened it up with the curves or colour fill, so i really only use the contrast. always be careful not to use brightness and contrast or curves layers to whitewash characters of colour (i.e starfire, cyborg and bumblebee)

step five: hue and saturation. this layer just makes everything more vibrant? i mean you can do other stuff with it but this is pretty much all i use it for
