just a small psa because i’ve seen this reoccuring on my indie a few times the past week and it concerns me. okay, here we go. ROLEPLAYING IS NOT YOUR JOB. it’s a hobby, cupcakes. please, treat it like one. i mean, it’s absolutely okay to be dedicated to your blog, your characters and your roleplay partners – i mean, if you are, then you’re a superstar and you rock and you’re a true treasure hidden in the rpc. but, if you aren’t online every day because you have a life outside of the internet – then you’re just as much of a superstar. i’ve seen so many people myself included have panic attacks and anxiety merely because they owe a lot of replies and don’t want to disappoint anyone. you’re such a wonderful, kind soul, my love… but please keep in mind that it’s O K A Y to take a break sometimes. you know ?? it’s O K A Y to drop a few threads if you aren’t feeling them anymore or the amount of replies you owe scares you. no decent roleplayer E V E R will hate you for that, or like you any less. as i said – it’s a H O B B Y. it’s for F U N. and the second it becomes any more or any less than that; take a break for a while. roleplaying should not jeopardize your mental health. roleplay should not give you anxiety or panic attacks. as soon as logging on and doing replies feels like something you H A V E to do rather than something you W A N T to do, something’s W R O N G. don’t be afraid to say N O then. don’t be afraid to D R O P a thread or two then. don’t be afraid to take a H I A T US until you feel better and more confident again. DON’T BE AFRAID TO PUT YOURSELF FIRST THEN. your roleplay partners would most likely do the same thing if they were in your situation. they will understand, and if they won’t love you any more for caring about yourself the same way they care about you, they sure as hell won’t love you any less either. and if they do – then dump them, honestly, because they’re toxic people. so please, bottom line is, ROLEPLAYING IS A HOBBY. A GAME. A RELAXATION. AS SOON AS IT TURNS INTO AN OBLIGATION OR A REASON FOR STRESS: PUT YOURSELF FIRST. YOU ROLEPLAY FOR YOU, AND NOT FOR SOMEONE ELSE. and never, ever, ever be afraid of losing threads or roleplay partners you love dearly over that. because i’m sure they won’t go anywhere !!
