What’s the best way you could describe adhd
your brain is constantly operating on overdrive and everything is just too much
sometimes you get distracted very easily because your brain is so sensitive to everything happening around you, sometimes if you’re lucky you can focus all of your overdrive thinking into one task and then do it really well, but a lot of the time you want to do so many things at once that your brain cant settle on which one it wants to do and then you just end up doing nothing and feeling awful about it
your brain has slippery walls and thoughts cannot stick to them no matter how hard you try to make them, you forget things that people tell you very easily to the point of everyone around you sighing in frustration because they’ve told you the same thing every single day for years and somehow you still forget it every single time
you end up crying at your computer because you’ve been trying to force yourself to do important work for the past half an hour but your brain literally will not let you do it and you’re falling behind schedule but you can’t do anything about it
it takes you hours to fall asleep because you can’t stop thinking about absolutely everything and even when you try to empty your mind, emptying your mind will remind you of something else and then you’ll be thinking again and you can’t stop thinking for hours and then you’re always exhausted in the morning because you still have to get up at 7am for your job but you’re running on 5 hours of sleep
essentially your brain is in a constant state of understimulated OR overstimulated and it switches between those two at complete random
you’ll have days where you barely eat, not because you aren’t hungry, but because every food in the house is too boring, and you’ll spend the whole day refreshing tumblr instead of doing chores because you don’t really want to do them so your body just shuts down and won’t let you even try, and your laundry basket is overflowing but you know that there are at least 10 steps to doing it and it’s too much effort, and you have over ten art projects you want to do but you can’t pick which one you want to work on first so years go by with you doing none of them at all and then you feel useless and a failure as an artist
or you’ll be twitchy and irritable and just want to work on your own thing while being in a very specific environment that’s the exact temperature and volume and size you need it to be or else you won’t be able to focus because the discomfort will be too distracting
bad brain disease
adhd is so funny it's like being possessed but with myself
the demon that controls my body says we have to watch bob burgers for five hours today and that demon is me
Everyday is leg day when you’re running from your problems
sitting here thinking about how stupid americans are at geography yup
Is that actually a thing? like do Americans not learn that stuff??? I am confusion
it is actually a thing, and it is frightening
I was really curious about this so I (from Spain) took a quiz to see how I did and got a 98%… Kinda wanna start a thing sooooo..
take this quiz I took, reblog and comment where you’re from…, I’m tryna see sumn lmao

OH FUVK I ONLY GOT ONE OF THEM
Why do so many Americans think Iran is IN AMERICA?
I got 9 out of 12, which my homeschooled heart is not proud of.
So...
Reblog if you think demisexual is a valid sexuality. I'm trying to prove a point.
(if you can't reblog this unfollow me)
this is totally appropriate and necessary to start teaching
adhd is so fucking stupid its like “i wanna do this thing. i need to do this. it is vital that i complete this task.” and then you read wiki articles for 3 hours
ableism is still ableist even if you don’t know the person is disabled. you shouldn’t be being ableist at all in the first place, “not knowing” is not the acceptable excuse you think it is.
How religious conservatism harms asexual people
Let me count the ways:
By teaching people that good girls do not express sexual initiative or desire, they make it more difficult for asexual girls to realize that they do not experience sexual attraction in the same way most young women do. This hinders their personal growth and denies them the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their own sexuality.
Because of religious conservatism, celibacy among unmarried, non-clerical people is almost universally assumed to mean “waiting until marriage.” This creates two problematic ideas: first, that asexuality is a choice, not a natural sexual orientation; secondly, that asexual people will change and become eager for sex after marriage. As a result, people believe that asexual people can be “changed” and that asexuality does not need to be accepted in the same way as other sexual orientations.
The sex-positive movement is largely a reaction against the sex-shaming attitudes of traditional religion and conservatism. Sex-positivity is chiefly concerned with encouraging people to have sex and enjoy sex. But for historical/cultural reasons, it puts much less emphasis on the value of non-sexual lifestyles and activities. Asexual and celibate people, particularly those who are sex-repulsed, often find the sex-positive movement alienating and invalidating of their life choices. Sex-positivity does not adequately address the culture of compulsory sexuality that harms asexual people, and in fact often reinforces it. This tension between asexual people and sex-positivity is utterly unnecesary, and is ultimately caused by conservative religious attitudes that shame people for sexual expression.
Religious conservatism is the chief reason why asexual people find difficulties with acceptance from sex-positive people and progressives. The association between asexuality and celibacy, and between celibacy and religion, leads otherwise open-minded people to become suspicious and defensive toward those who claim not to desire sex.
Christianity in particular teaches that humans are commanded by God to populate the Earth. Asexual people, who frequently do not wish to have sex or bear children, are thus considered sinful. Like childree people, they are often accused of selfishness, immaturity, greed, materialism, inhumanity, not truly loving their partners, and of rebellion against God. Sexual behavior is considered not only natural, but a duty that is intrinsic to being human.
All extant religions, that discourage premarital sex, encourage it in the context of marriage. Celibacy is only socially acceptable for unmarried people; ultimately, having sex and producing genetic children is a duty for all laypeople. Asexual people are thus pressured into being sexually active even though they may not want it.
The same religions that discourage unmarried people from having sex also teach that women have a duty to obey and provide sex to their husbands. Women who do not or cannot enjoy sex with their husbands are told that they are sinful, and that their husbands have a right to and deserve sex. Women’s bodies, especially asexual women’s bodies, are treated as the property of men. Women who do not wish to marry - many of whom are asexual and/or LGBT+ - are treated as abnormal, incomplete or disreputable.
Asexual men suffer from religious conservatism as well. They are often perceived as gay (regardless of whether they identify as LGBT+ or not), and are thus attacked by homophobia. Also, conservative religious groups teach men that their place is at the head of a heterosexual household, with a heterosexual sex life and genetic children. Asexual men frequently do not want this lifestyle, and as a result their masculinity, heterosexuality, and religious devotion are called into question.
Most asexual people are not hetero-romantic, and thus suffer from the same homophobic and biphobic prejudice that other LGBT+ people do. Anti-LGBT+ prejudice is strongly correlated with religious conservatism in western countries.
When LGB people believe that asexuality is harmful to the LGBT+ movement, this is commonly because they fear that religious conservatives will use asexuality as “evidence” that LGB people can “choose not to be gay.” Enforced lifelong celibacy, silencing, and self-denial has long been the only lifestyle that religious conservatives will accept from LGB people. Religious conservatism is to a large extent responsible for the tensions between the LGBT and asexual communities.
The key issue with religious conservatism, which harms women, LGBT+ people, and asexuals, is that it denies people their sexual agency. It’s not celibacy or asexuality that’s encouraged, it’s chastity, and chastity means performing or abstaining from sex in accordance to strict religious mandates. Sex outside marriage is wicked; sex within marriage is mandatory. Heterosexual sex is glorified; same-sex and non-binary sex acts are demonized. Women (asexual or not) are punished not only for choosing to have sex outside of marriage, but for ANY attempt to control their sexuality in ways that do not follow traditional religious commands or please the desires of heterosexual men.
Asexual people are attacked by religious conservatism because, like LGBT+ people, they tend to act and think in ways that do not fit the prescribed traditional models of acceptable sexuality.
(Note: I use “religious conservatism” to mean traditional, western attitudes toward sexuality, which are steeped in Christianity, and are typically homophobic, biphobic, transphobic and misogynistic. If that doesn’t sound like your personal religious views, then congratulations! You’re not the sort of person I’m talking about here.)
I can personally attest to all of this being beyond 10000% accurate to the T, being an ace Christian myself, and raised by an extremely lgbt phobic, racist, sexist, fascist, etc. family.
“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972
With all these new steaming sites people tend to be like “just pirate it!” when a lot of the titles can be found at your local library!!! Yes the original content might not be there or it might take some time for the library to get copies (pro tip: you can make a suggestion to your library if you want them to buy a copy of something) but why would you spend money to watch all the Disney movies from your childhood when you could just be a little patient, get a DVD player and watch them all FOR FREE, without risking viruses to your computer AND supporting your local library at the same time?
I really am just going to keep going on about this but literally…….. the diviners deserves that huge fanbase that series like six of crows or the raven cycle or any of those ya series has. the atmosphere and the characters and ships and plot and everything is amazing and I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to gain more traction but it hasn’t! and with the last book coming out in February I’m scared that now it’s never going to :( like where are my tragic sam and evie edits? where are my more than two accounts worth of fan art??? where are my people crying over henry and louis????? this book has a canonically depressed mc, a jewish boy exposing a government conspiracy targeting immigrants, a black healer from Harlem who loves his psychic little brother, a native american upcoming actress, a gay songwriter from the south, a chinese ace lesbian who LOVES science, and a socialist girl fighting against large corporations that mistreat and underpay their workers. also jericho but this post isn’t about him. not to mention that it’s set in 1920s new york with elements of horror and fantasy, with that found family trope and themes of America’s hypocrisy vs what America was theoretically established to be. libba bray created such a vibrant world with incredibly lovable character and I’m going to be so sad to say goodbye next year. anyway underrated ya, if ur on the fence or if this has been on your tbr and you’ve just never gotten to it (this book literally sat on my shelf for almost a year before I read but bc I kept putting it off whoops), here is ur message. read it!
Happy ace week! Casual reminder that aces can use queer to describe themselves. ✌️
